I'll never understand why the NFL even bothers with instant replay if they're not gonna use it to get calls right. Just get rid of it if you aren't gonna use it
WHY not have a replay ref up in the booth to handle it? -is where it goes wrong....... WHY let the guy who blew the call on the field be the one reviewing it...?
I’m a lions fan but that intentional grounding call on the Seahawks was something else. I can’t even begin to wonder what the hell the refs were thinking.
yea seahawks fan here and that no call holding in ot was bs. i just wish more fans understand bad calls are bad calls. dont support bad calls just cause they go your way.
Someone above said get rid of instant replay if you're not going to use it. I'm in favor of either getting rid of it, or using it to affirm or negate penalties. Penalties hold massive weight in the game. A winning touchdown can be called back for an error in judgement. It's just not right. This needs to be fixed. The fans are fed up.
@@SixStringSchoolMaybe either during the last few minutes of the game or the whole 4th quarter the NFL reviews all penalties during that time. Yeah, it might slow down the game quite a bit, but it helps to get the calls right. Hopefully 😂.
Man did anyone notice that basically every game this week, all the refs were BAD? like i get it as fans we will always complain, but my goodness EVERY game this week there was bad/missed calls i could have sworn replacement refs were in this week
It's not that they're bad; it's just that the script is awful this year, and the refs are having to work harder to get the game outcomes the way they are supposed to go.
Ref quality dropped once sports gambling was legalized. For legal reasons I will make no accusations, but I will say that it sure is one hell of a coincidence.
I'm not sure on the pressure part but he was in the pocket and the ball was nowhere near a receiver. If you remember, before they were allowed to spike the ball to stop the clock they would throw it over the head of the receiver to stop it.
A lot of games are decided every weekend by horrible calls. No wonder so many are tuning out of the NFL. Just makes it look like the games are all rigged.
2:09 As a TCU fan, I recall a game where Baylor grabbed our receiver's jersey and pulled him back and we were flagged. Thankfully they reviewed it and got it corrected. Other times, the officials just didn't like a player and would call any touching a penalty. Player changed jersey # one game and didn't get called. But damn, that BAL/CIN game the officials seemed to have really not gotten together ahead of time on who they were betting on to win.
Do people think the Bills/Raiders call starting at about 8:55 ending around 10:24 was pass interference? It’s not like there was pushing or holding or keeping the Raiders player for making a play. Bills player barely touched him at all. - a CFL fan
@@iam_kuz I agree, 2 things I look for in a PI call, 1) was the ball catchable ✅ 2) did the defenders contact significantly impede the WRs ability to catch the ball, ❌ That’s why is was picked up. And that’s why I agree with the call
@@AnthonyWagner-x1jyour quarterback was worse. And your last quarterback was a fucking rapist. And there was contact before the ball arrived. That’s a penalty. But we can’t allow shittsburgh to go 0-2 now, can we?
And yet there's far more that wasn't in the video is quite telling. It shows how bad/biased the Refs are anymore. Paid to make certain calls upon certain conditions. All to either make one team the clear winner or to influence high-scoring games on both sides.
The fact that Pass Interference is the most subjective penalty in the game along with the potentially most devastating really makes it hard for me to take football too seriously.
6:00 Good luck getting that call in Pittsburgh ANYTIME let alone the end of the game. The NFL couldn't have the holy Steelers go 0-2 at home to start the season. 😂
@@AJK967there was illegal contact BEFORE the ball arrived. That’s a penalty. But the refs gotta help out the Steelers just like they did in rapelisburgers two Super Bowl “ wins”
They would show sneed clamp play on Ridley but they won’t show Marvin jones choking n pulling Bryan cook from behind to stop a easy interception 🤦♂️ Cook was hurt after Jones choke tackle
It was all I could do to watch this video. It’s bad enough when officials bungle calls on the field, but completely inexcusable when they can’t, or refuse to get it right in the replay booth. Infuriating.
$9 Billion industry apparently cannot utilize all available tools to ensure correct calls by officials. And we really don’t need these referee apologists attached to the broadcast team, that is just pathetic. Really effin’ lame.
6:44 I actually agree with the false start call. The Texans defender jumped, but he got back. Quentin Nelson, rather than flinching as if the play had started or he had been provoked by the defender, immediately gets up and starts pointing fingers at the defender. He didn't even try to make it look like he was drawn into false starting.
Yea but what Nelson did happens all the time. If you cross and it causes an offensive linemen to move it’s a penalty on the defense. What Nelson did happens several times a week that’s why it’s a dumb call. It’s also better to stand and point because it draws attention to the gym and basically asks the line judge to confirm if the defender crossing caused it.
I also agree with the false start, but for a different reason. Nelson lifted his butt ever so slightly, and one could say it's what drew the defender offside. If not for that, Nelson and the center touched the defender while he was offside, in my opinion.
I've said this for years. The NFL has the least accurate play calling ever. When I mean play calling, I'm referring to game making decisions or breaking decisions for that matter are left up to "yea looks like ball should be spotted about here, sure looks good." Things like that. It's not an accurate way to judge a game
With all the bad penalties called this season, someone should make a spread sheet to count which refs and how many bad calls they make during each game. Then you can snuff out the bad apples.
10:00 I really do not get where they are seeing this "contact at the end of the route". From almost every camera angle, you can see that, at most, he touches him a tiny bit before the ball comes. It actually appears to be a well timed play by the CB. Sure, the overturning of the penalty was odd, but its the right call from every angle we can see. Why do people get so mad when they go in an correct a bad original call?
There needs to be more justification around what makes PI vs not. That ball is under-thrown, which means to catch the receiver needs to basically halt his momentum forward… for there NOT to be contact there the corner would have to not be ready to tackle him. I don’t see how underthrown balls can have DPI in that sense.
@@baileyduvall01 the wr is entitled to be able to catch the ball. QBs are taught to under throw rather than overthrow for that reason. Sucks for the defender, but they should have their eyes on the ball and not the wr.
@@TheSjuris I dont know if you’ve ever played corner but it’s fuckin impossible to watch the ball and cover a great route runner. The WR gets all the advantage why does he also get the entitlement of the uncatchable ball?
@@baileyduvall01 because he is entitled to make the play. Why is a cb entitled to tackle a wr without a ball in his hand? The wr is defenseless in that position.
I'm honestly amazed there isn't any plays from the dolphins pats game. Cause There were two that could be argued. The supposed first down the patriots had on their last possession as well as the Very Illegal td that Hunter Henry had where he blocked a DB around 5 yards ahead of the line of scrimmage as well as the fact the entire offensive line was in front of the line as well. On a passing play that would be considered 6 ineligible receivers downfield. I didn't see the TD issue at first, but then it was brought to my attention and I'm just surprised the refs are THAT blind
People forget that an entire half of the pass interference rule is that the pass has to be catchable, I'd much rather refs not throw flags when the ball is 40 yards out of bounds and the reciever has no chance at catching it.
Can someone legit explain to me how the calls get worse and worse as sports betting gets bigger and bigger? I haven't watched a game in 3 years because it's a joke.
What I find most annoying is announcers that comment who have no clue what the rule actually is based on their words. The intentional grounding flag that they picked up for the QB being out of the pocket is correct. The hash marks don’t mark the pocket. The position of the Tackle marks it. 👎🏼
Ref had actually be a little careful on that "I'm talking to America here." That could be reviewed as a small red flag on his record. Or yellow, idk how the ref union works.
It is painful how blatant some of these things are. Refs should be fined for every single blatant call they get wrong. Someone please for god fucking sake put some accountability into these court jesters.
I can see why Defensive PI was called against the Lions on Lockett. The coverage looked very handsy. However, I can also see why Lions fans would question the call because there was not any tugging, pushing, or pulling disrupting Lockett's movement. I am not sure why the offensive PI against the Lions is in this video because it is a clear moving screen and an obvious pick call. The defensive PI call was awful against he Bengals. There is a dramatic double standard on PI calls. Receivers can almost do whatever they want to gain space without much fear of offensive PI being called. I am not sure why the Punt return penalty is in this video because the blocker dove and tripped the coverage man.
If you’re talking about the Bengals one, the blocker put his hands on the back to push the defender doesn’t matter if he was falling down or not it’s an automatic penalty.
13:12 as a Vikings fan that should’ve been flagged. I hate the fact that the Chiefs can go away with pretty much anything these days especially with refs like that. If that was my Vikings, I’m sure they would’ve gotten flagged.
The calls against the Jets were garbage. They always protect the Cowboys even when it's an obviously bad call. They just kept ging the Cowboys every chance to score with these non-penatly calls. Shame.
6:44 Nelson does twitch there before the defender moves I think this is a good call this is a really close one. The Titans Chargers false start was an awful call nobody on the O-Line even moved
1st one he was grabbing the jersey. That is textbook PI when the guy is right there. 2nd one it looked like the kicking team had a guy flop a bit. It looks like he barely even touched him. 3rd one it almost looked like regular contact and the WR fell, so they called a penalty. 4th one it looked like he just fell down. 5th one looked like it was PI, but no where near as #1. 6th one the blocker was between the one who caught it and the corner. There was a lot more contact on the corner's part. So shouldn't that be defensive PI? 7th one grounding is defined in part by "imminent loss of yardage because of pressure from the defense". The def was over 5 yards away. 8th one blatant face mask missed. Not the worst I have seen. I don't think it was intentional, but he got it pretty good, enough to turn heads (or at least 1 head). 9th one the ref was in the blind spot, so couldn't see the jersey being grabbed. The ref there gets a pass as he literally couldn't see the hand grabbing the jersey. 10th one defensive lineman definitely jumped. 11th one I didn't see any movement at all prematurely from the offense. 12th one he was close to being out of the pocket, but he was still in it. 13th one I think the ref let them play a little. There didn't seem to be a lot of contact. 14th one quick hold, refs just didn't see it as happened so fast. 15th one the ref missed it as it happened a quarter of a second before the ball got there, and was on the refs far side. 16th one another quick hold, refs just didn't see it. 17th one looks like a hold in real time, but replay shows the refs blew it. 18th one how in the hell did the ref miss the PI? He was in a good spot to see it and was right there. 19th one a little iffy but i think it could have been called PI. 20th it almost looks like the guy was shoved into the qb, and then barely touched him. 21st he fell into the qb, possibly from the offensive lineman pushing him a little bit. 22nd I disagree with. He forgot to put the feather bed down so the qb has less of a chance of being hurt.
I wasn't pretty happy at the refs that they missed a pass interference against the Steelers at the very end of the game but that's alright Browns will get their revenge against the Steelers come November when the Steelers come to Cleveland Browns stadium
@@hbk314 Still should have been passing interference though it's alright the Browns will get the Steelers back and we will absolutely crush them in November at Cleveland Browns stadium and alot of Browns fans were completely ticked off about that missed call
@@LunarEquity93 Ball appeared to be uncatchable. There certainly wasn't enough there to justify bailing out the Browns. The facemask was borderline, but it would have been offset by the holding call had it been flagged.
