You can see Yoshio Kishi's editing style in this one. Man was definitely avant garde and I'm glad they did that segment on him and his contributions to NFL Films in the "Lost Treasures" series.

21:15 his weight training shows a lot about him too.. at his age, he approaches it with a ferocity seldom seen even in players of that era because weight training was relatively new to sports even like football. If he had such equipment when he was a player, he would have been even better, and would certainly have been an early advocate for its use in player development

It's interesting to note that some Packer fans believe that loss was a blessing in disguise, because it kept the Rams in the Coastal Division race with the Baltimore Colts. A week later, the Rams beat the Colts to win the division, and would face the Packers again, only to lose 28-7. Some Packer fans believe the team was happier to face the Rams, who were talented but inexperienced, rather than the Colts, a veteran team led by Johnny Unitas.

It's kind of interesting to see what's emphasized and what isn't. Landry and Lombardi were the two coordinators for the Giants at the same time, but that isn't even mentioned. Unless I missed it, there's footage from both Super Bowl victories at the beginning of the piece, but neither are discussed, either; this reflects the time (1968), when the NFL still didn't consider the AFL an equivalent league, so the NFL championship was "the prize"...an attitude which would last only for a few more months, until the Jets victory in Super Bowl III. We also know the ending wasn't the true ending for Lombardi, as he'd take on the Redskins coaching job within a year in '69, only to die of cancer after one season...and being succeeded by the Rams' coach we see in the feature, George Allen.

The best ever. The best coach ever. The best team ever. One reason. 3 straight. The only team to ever win 3 straight world championships. The video shows how hard that 3rd one is. Impossible except for this one team. To this there is no doubt.

Well, the Packers won three straight way back in the 30's (I think). But I still have to agree. I wish the dumba$$ DAB's today would quit talking 'Super Bowls' and talk about what really matters: NFL Championships.

7:17 - Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons didn't just train three Derby winners, he was the first trainer to train two Triple Crown Champions: Gallant Fox in 1930, and his son Omaha in 1935, the only father-son Triple Crown combination in history to date. Lombardi was around people who reached for the stars right from the beginning.

@rush__man

I predict the team was gone for sure either by moving or folding. In fact Lombardi wanted the Giants job and who knows why he didn't get it. It was a stroke of luck for everyone involved. The NFL used the Packers as the flagship team when the merger went down. The merger brought a huge amount of fans and what better team to represent the whole league then the excellence of the Packers.
