GM mode is fun but if you abuse the game mechanics you can win the cup after 3 years with any team. First year trade all veterans for top prospects and picks. Get a 50 overall starting goalie and your guarantee to come last. Second year sign all the best free agents available and trade them for top end young NHL players. Third year sign a bunch of top end free agents. Trade all your later year draft picks for high overall veterans. By then all the young players you got in years 1 and 2 should be high enough overalls to contend for the cup. If you don't win the cup in year 3 sign more free agents and your young players should be even higher overall

Package datsyuk,Evander Kane Luke schen and a pick for horvat and jueolevi from the Canucks he could play with lillgegrin and horvat could play 1st line

You need to move Willy Nylander up to the first line. He has low elite potential, and the only way I've found to get them to grow is to give them as many minuets per game as you can

You're already 3 years into this gm mode in 5 episodes, maybe this could be a 25 year gm mode.

I'd suggest getting a young defenseman to play with Lil. Someone like Pouliot from Pittsburgh, Shea Theodore, Anthony DeAngelo, Matt Dumba, Jonas Brodin, or Ben Hutton. Just to name a few.

Try to trade Datsyuk and some other pieces for a good defenseman to play alongside Liljegren.

Play Veleno when he's 80 overall on the 4th or 3rd line. That's what I normally do and it works out well enough

I say don't trade Datsyuk. He's helping Domi and Sanford get points. Trading him would only hurt their growth. What I would do is move McGinn down to the third line and move Gagner up to second line center, moving Nylander over to the wing. McGinn can be reunited with his old Sabres teammate and Gagner can get rewarded for their fantastic year he's having.

Also idk how realistic this is but maybe trade Kane to Toronto to get Mitch marner if he's still pissed off there maybe it's kinda realistic if they want to trade a guy who's upset and you want to trade a guy who's struggling and maybe since it's year 3 all there young guys are better so there a better team looking to acquire veterans for the playoffs

Get the blue jackets goalie, korpisalo. He's a great goalie and takes a season or too to develop, but he reaches at least a 90. I've seen him get to 93!

Although deslauriers is going amazing in offense Put deslauriers on defense for a month and look at his numbers then. He was drafted as a defenseman and he puts up good numbers on D. Put Evander on the right wing. And I would make give big Tim the C for his sweater. Young defensive captain who really has an impact on the team wouldn't be so bad. Also look into trading for kovacs from the rangers he can be a deadly player

Joe veleno will take 2-3 maybe even 4 years to be in the 80-85 range from my franchise experience. This is fine, but you need to get rid of Max domi before his value decreases because he doesn't grow.

Trade Kane, Schenn, and Datsyuk to Toronto for Marner and a pick. Marner gets to like a 91 in some Franchise modes, his morale is just down. Call Liljegren lily it's short and is easy to remember

Give veleno 3 years once he gets to 78-80 give him a depth role in NHL maybe some pp time the times I drafted him he gets to 88-91 and is a solid 60+ point guy depending on who he plays with

Kane always sucks in the gm modes that I have had him he just gets disgruntled and sits at like 82 overall every time. it seems like they put his actual personality into the game.
