@@djphlange i guess i kind of see your point. as long as the guy apologizing isn't apologizing just so he can soothe his own guilt and feelings by using the guy he just hurt, then ya i can see that as good sportsmanship, it's a genuine relaxed apology
@@Matt-by3yd high speed sports accidents happen, you can generally feel bad for injurying someone when it wasn't intentional. I've done it, I broke another players hand in a tackle and apologized afterward because its just part of the game. Words ain't cheap if you actually mean them
@@ArkLaTuck To me there's 2 side of the coin .I love sportsmanship like that personally but I can also understand someone with a killer mentality: you're here to win and have no time to feel sorry for anybody.
@@ArkLaTuck Toxic masculinity? Are you some kind of cringe male feminist? Wtf happened to men...The problem is a lack of testosterone, which is what the feminists have conditioned you to think of it as bad to be a male full of testosterone.
It was in the ear, not the face... And I think the stretcher thing was a bit ridiculous... He was stunned and maybe had a slight concussion at most. They were treating it like dude had some massive neck or back injury... Paul Kariya almost dies on the ice to Scott Stevens and dude gets up on his own, and even comes back in the game to help score the winning goal in teh Stanly Cup Finals! lol... Next thing you know, players will have to go apologies to the opposing goalie after scoring for hurting their feelings lol... Like why the heck would Josi apologize for something that was completely accidental?
@@JonHop1 Stunned and a slight concussion? He had a broken jaw and a concussion that kept him out of hockey for a year and a half. Josi knew better than you. And even if you were right and it was just a slight concussion - why *wouldn't* you apologize to someone for accidentally hitting them in the head?
@@user-rf9mx4qf7z He was kept out due to his jaw, not his concussion. And he cleared Concussion protocol 2 days later. That is a very mild/slight concussion. But he did not have any type of neck or back injury. He got hit in the ear and fractured the top of his jaw bone.
@@JonHop1 Well, all I know is what Wikipedia says, but I don't think a fractured jaw takes a year to heal. And according to this article written a year later, "The jaw has long since healed, but the headaches and concussion-like symptoms continue." www.mlive.com/redwings/2012/10/red_wings_patrick_eaves_still.html And no, the stretcher isn't used just for a neck or back injury (although at that point they may have thought there was a possibility of a neck injury). He was in no condition to be getting up and leaving under his own power.
There is no better feeling than a guy's chest and lungs compressing as you hammer him against the boards, hearing him gasp, grunt even; but then going for beers after the game and having a good laugh. Hockey is truly the best sport in the world.
I remember back in High School when I was playing hockey, I accidently knocked somebody into the boards, and when I apologized, he responded with "fuck you", and got a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct xD
There's nothing "weak" about being a sportsman. Play harder than hell within the rules, and yet own your own actions. The muppets saying "this is silly" are those who've never given 110% at anything and arm-chair quarterback everything else lol.
are you blind carter just try to slash keith hand 10 sec before when he was trying to pick his glove ... he slash him back ans when carter was down the ref separate them before he can apologize ... stop talking bullshit lol
@@joecutting4776 to be fair that only happens 1 in a million...u can wind up ur stick like a bat and slash my hand and no fingers would fall off or explode...very unfortunate for the Ottawa player...Crosby wasnt even penalized, I think that was a year before the rule change
It's the only sport I know that you can make a unintentionally devastating hit to an opposing player, and still do the right thing, apologize and go out to the pub later as friends/ Co-workers.
One I saw in person was Gary Roberts of the Hurricanes, don't remember who it was, but he gave a bit of a crosscheck to a guy who was off balance and went into the boards head-first. Roberts once had his neck broken so he didn't take it lightly when he put someone in a similar position, and he gave the guy a low-key apology.
Great video..I like the commentary on one of the clips...where one guy says I like that.... I know you don’t like that.... but I like that...a real macho man.
Josi's face was just pure regret. He didn't mean to do that and he felt like a colossal ass barrel that it did. Just get him a stiff drink after the game, Josi, and I think all will be forgiven.
Did you ever see then Bruins David Backes hit Senators Scott Sabourin from 11/2/19? That one was pretty emotional. In the NESN footage, they showed the crowd crying too.
There is no better feeling then getting slammed against a wall by another man and then going out for a nice drink with him afterwards. Best night of my life.
Puck + head = really scary time. Even happened last leafs vs Canucks game to a Canucks defender, but luckily he only needed some stitches in his nose and was was back a few shifts later. Close call.
Sports are not war. You aren't fighting to survive, you're playing a game. I think you should always try your best to be respectful to your opponent and your teammates. You may be trying to win against the other team but that doesn't mean you can't still be a decent human being. I like this compilation.
The Keith one always hurts even after watching it live and on replay COUNTLESS times... Obviously meant to be a "love tap" back at Carter but still hurts to watch. But class act by Keith to go and apologize after he realized what he did, even if it was accidental
Elroy Creswell ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A7LI-PXOcAw.html you can see him mouth "sorry" at the end of the slo-mo clip, MOST NHL players wouldn't deliberately do that, minus a few here and there bc we know a few players did it fully on purpose 😂
The last one is the way you do it. You are not trying to kill each other, just heated competition. When things go a bit too far, back down, cool off a bit, and apologize. I am the kind of person who would welcome my team and my opponents to a cookout after the game.
I watched the game when Eaves got hit with my best friend and his family. Every single one of us cringed when he got it. I can't imagine taking a shot like that...
What John said. They were already handily ahead and it was a flukey goal. Just kind of an insult to injury. I dunno if you play hockey, but after a certain point, you take your foot off the gas out of respect.
I felt so bad for Kerfie. It's his first game playing against his old team and he boards his teammate and gets a suspension. Honestly I still dont even think it was much his fault
2:55 That Keith play was no "accident". He "apologized" afterwards to make it look like an accident when he realized how blatant it was. You can tell when Keith reaches down to pick up his glove, Carter brings his stick up and over Keith really fast and comes down directly on the glove to either slash his hand or knock his glove away and Keith noticed and didn't appreciate it and then obviously comes up with the stick to the face of Carter. You can tell Carter AND Keith knew exactly what they were doing with their sticks there. Keith was looking right at Carter when he did it. But hey, this isn't a commentary against the character of either of those guys. Just calling it as I see it IMHO.
I think Keith was aiming for the shoulder, but accidentally got his face. Carter then completely flopped on the fall. Neither one was in the right and they both deserved penalties
