Caufield got much attention for his performance as a rookie for the Habs during the playoffs, but it was Tampa's rookie Ross Colton who got the Cup-winning goal ultimately at the very end. :-)
Congrats Tampa, you are the best team in the world. Montreal you have nothing to be ashamed of, it was a pleasure to watch the magical ride and I look forward to seeing you compete hard again next year. Allez Montreal
@@reesej8719 don't think they got good young players and the veterans are good too for some of them plus lightning had a salary cap to high but hey i'm a canadiens fan after all next season we'll see if your true
@@rogerskitt1542 I’m sorry, I don’t think pulling a reverse sweep on a favorite, sweeping a team that everyone said they were going to destroy the habs, and outting the second best team in 6 is lucky. This is the only elim game where they’ve only scored 0 goals this year.
Thanks for the sporting congratulations, and congrats to the Lightning and their fans! What a powerful team they have! To the people who can only post vitriol, please grow up and learn to be sportsman and support your team without having to try tear down an opponent team... that’s not what hockey is about... it’s about respect for your opponents; cheer your team to victory, but respect the other team - they bled to get where they are too!
Congratulations to Lightnings. You, guys, deserve it. Thank you Montreal for this spectacular final. It was astonished. Price must be credited for pushing the whole team to the championship, i even feel sorry for him
As a Habs fan in my sixties, I was raised to be respectful of the winning team, and so I will first extend my congratulations to Tampa for their win and the great exciting hockey entertainment they brought to the playoffs. Next I must congratulate my team for proving in these last two games that they can dominate this impressive opponent when they put their minds to it. If they conquer their problem with lack of confidence and the jitters in the initial games of finals next year, there's no reason they cannot win the cup. That being said their entire division needs to raise the bar throughout the season and into the playoffs to be ready for the likes of Tampa.
They have a good core group! The Lightning were just overpowering with their weapons! Congrats to the organization and their fans! To the two childish replies here, grow up and show some respect... it’s not like you were on the ice lol
I’m believe Matt Murray has the same clinching shutout streaks. But yes I feel like Tampa wanted to come home and win. Throw Montreal a bone after game 1 Tampa knew they had it lol. Really wish they had better division set up so we could’ve seen a more competitive series. I feel like there’s maybe 5 teams that could’ve put up a better fight. But there is no doubt Tampa is a Juggernaut. Hopefully the salary cap will do its job and break them up a bit. Isles actually faired much better.
Lifelong Leafs fans here, congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning 2021 Stanley Cup champions, you deserved it! Almost makes me want to become a Lightning fan, lol.
ECONOMICS it wasn’t luck, it was heart and skill. The Habs were like the 18th seed in NHL standings. And dead last in the playoffs and they took out the Maple Leafs, the Jets, and the Golden Knights. Remarkable effort.
@@AcesWildMMA well the Canadian teams were luck all of those teams dont show up in the playoffs and someone had too and vegas was just too worn down frpm Colorado nevermind fleury played basically a whole season and pushed him over the edge
@@museymonkey6807 the refs were on the Golden Knights side for so many of the games against the Habs and the Habs had an assistant head coach coach them for the whole series.
I think the Habs need to defenseman that have offensive capability and attitude and they need a real offensive leader. He doesn't have to be the guy that scores a lot of goals. He he needs to be a guy out there that just goes 100% from whistle to whistle. He's not afraid to take a hit he'll give a hit he plays defense he plays offense. Just that kind of energy. Your stars will look at him and say well if he's doing that we're going to have to step it up. The defenseman are to shore up the defense around Price. They really aren't that far from being a power team. I firmly believe that. You look at the lightning diving to block shots in this game five. They sold out. You had a few plays like that from the Habs. You can't save anything for the next game because it may not be there. You got to leave it all out there on the rink.
I call that the "Trail of Defeat". Last year, the Blues lost to the Canucks who lost to the Knights who lost to the Stars who lost to the Lightning. This past season, the Blues lost to the Avalanche who lost to the Knights who lost to the Canadiens who lost to the Lightning.
Congrats Lightning fans. You guys have yourselves a really special team! Keep your heads up Canadiens fans. I'm really impressed with how far your team made it. The 2021 Playoffs were really fun to watch.
That bad luck of touching Conference Cup is no longer valid. Not that it ever was because it is superstition. But Stamkos has touched last two years and Ovechkin lifted it up in 18 on the way to the cup.
A Redwing fan here and i always liked when Yzerman picked it up in the 90s. A stupid tradition i think of not touching it. U won!! U earned the conf champ trophy!! U aint gotta skate around with it but touch the darn thing!!! Sometimes i feel teams psych themselves out too much with superstitions
I wasn't even into hockey until heard how well Tampa Bay was doing. A Florida team beating Montreal at an ice sport? The irony of that is too good for me not to become a fan.
@Jack Black football season is right around the corner. Not expecting a Bucs repeat, but definitely not counting it out. Not to mention, the Rays are playing pretty well!
I'm happy the cup was decided without a referee controversy. I hope the Habs have not damaged their relationship with Kotkatniemi by scratching him for the most important games.
The Nhl Stanley Cup finals were good as the Tampa Bay Lightning were stacked with talent on all levels. In order to win and advance in a NHL playoffs series and continue, an organization must create and maintain Excellence through Communication, consistency (mental and physical), play hard and intelligent, play as a Team and each player must do their job in order to succeed. The Montreal Canadiens performed all of this and honoured their uniform, fans, city, management. As the Tampa Bay Lightning are back to back Stanley Cup Champions. Well Deserved Champions and are an Excellent Hockey team.
@V P that 1st round sweep changed their mentality in postseason play. They've been contenders for quite some time. Fun fact: salt is bad for your blood pressure.
If you are comfortable in believing this then go with it. As per last year and the current year of the Worldwide Pandemic Nhl regular season and playoffs, Finals the Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley cup.
@V P I disagree with you but we will find out next year in the NHL regular long season and the Playoffs. Yes, you are correct that it takes more than just talent to win, it takes what I mentioned previously.
Congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In back to back years they have shown that they are clearly the best team in the league. If they can manage to keep most of their key pieces for next season, they I wouldn't be surprised to see them win a third cup in a row. They are in a league of their own. Congrats to the Montreal Canadiens. In a year where most did not expect much from them, they shocked the hockey world and had an amazing run. They proved that regular season results don't mean anything once the playoffs start. The future is bright for this team with their young players. gg to both teams. It was a lot of fun.
@@deehenderson3963 cap is not likely going up for 2 years. This is the end of the Road for a very long time for the TBL. Their team will be good next year but dismantled. They were nearly 25% over the cap during the playoffs (22%). I'd expect the NHL to change the rules to close this loophole- calling it the Lightning clause
@@good2goskee *clause not claws. Tampa and St. Louis tried to have the "loophole" closed after Chicago set the precedent and beat them. Tampa used that rule in their favor, and so many people lose their minds. Oh karma.
Congrats to Tampa. There’s a reason they have won the cup again and have shown to be a dominant force for years to come. Despite injuries through the playoffs and regular season, they got the job done. As for the Habs, one hell of an underdog story. 3-1 deficit to Leafs has turned into making it to final and surprising us all. Well, onto a what should be crazy offseason!
@@muckhorse9687 Tampa and St. Louis were the only 2 teams who voted against the rules that allow for the LTIR/"cap circumvention", after the Blackhawks beat Tampa and set the precedent. Now that Tampa used those rules in their favor so many people are all butthurt about it, and I think it's hilarious! Go Lightning!!!

Habs fan here we are so proud of you .. you did your best .. I felt too bad to all of you guys can’t move on till now . I finished the bottle of tequila ..from Alberta ..
This lightning team going for dynasty status. Talent wise they’ve probably been the best since 2015. Now they have elite chemistry with one another, championship experience, and an elite goalie (all due respect to Ben Bishop but he was holding us back)
Next years team will look a lot different given that they are already 5 million over cap with the contracts already on the books for next season and still would need to sign some of their depth from this season.
@@snowfan0521 if we can somehow keep the core of stamkos, kucherov, pallat, point, Hedman and vasilevski together I think we’ll always be competing for cups
@@snowfan0521 and honestly, they should be allowed to keep their key players regardless of salary cap, because they drafted nearly all of them. Traded for a few. Not like they signed marquee free agents. They’re organic. Just my opinion but I’m also bias
Clicked on this video to watch the highlights (can’t watch games live as I’m in Ireland). The recommended video below showing Tampa lifting the cup. Actually gutted. Completely ruined 😡
Tough series for Hab fans. A few of the players looked fatigue. Tafolli had a bad last few games (bad bounces, losing battles). Many beautiful memories made during this run though. Build off of it for next year. Go Habs Go! Forever!
Back to back champs like Golden State warriors, Tampa Bay lightning just send the canadiens to a holiday, let us take a moment to honor the canadiens for an incredible performance this season and wish them luck next season👍
Hey Montréal; remember winning the Clarence Campbell Bowl 2 weeks ago? The award is one of the most respected tropies in hockey/sports. It was the first time in the storied history of the franchise, it took over a century to accomplish, and when they finally succeeded they just treated it like a pathetic speedbump that they couldn't care less about! Well you got what you deserved, sadly 😥 enjoy your accomplishments!!! ALWAYS
Yeah, that's a trophy that Montreal wouldn't have won if it was the usual division. We'll remember that for sure. If we manage to get the Stanley Cup (before Price retires PLEASE), we can be at ease.
So much hype and celebrations during the series like the habs actually won but the end tells the real story, the Bolts are just simply a really good team..
Congrats to Tampa on a second cup! There is most likely not going to be a 3peat however since this group will lose some key components starting next season according to coach Cooper. Cinderella won't be coming to the ball next year like MTL did but still, there are some pretty good suitors waiting for their chance. Bruins, Avs, Knights, Leafs, Caps, Isle's and maybe even the Oilers etc etc. We shall see how it plays out next year. Again, Congrats Tampa for another cup, you deserve this cup and all the accolades that come with it for another great run!!!
Congratulations New York Rangers, Islanders, & New Jersey Devils fans! Your 2nd team, in your retirement community won. Enjoy this Cup like it’s your last. Also, enjoy your golden years! Go Bolt-ons!
@@Midasty Montreal riots every day due to losing a game. Over the past years many homes have been terrorized and injuries have been frequent in these riots. This is why Montreal is hated due to its insanely toxic and brutal behaviour in these riots and tantrums.
According to Sportsnet there were no noteworthy highlights from 16:38 remaining in the 3rd until 7 seconds remaining in the the third. Of the final Stanley Cup game, no less.
Agree, and it's no wonder. Canada's passion for hockey is extraordinary but any sports is a business. Still I'm pretty sure you'll have a holiday in your street soon
To me I thought it was between Vasilleski or Kucherov to win the conn smythe and I was right because I'm sure Kucherov was the second candidate but really there is a few other players who could have won it too no doubt..
@@bolo5190 Yeah it’s been a while. Carey Price deserved it though, the Canadiens would’ve gone out in Round 1 had it not been for his excellent goaltending.
Congrats Tampa It took all lines whole team effort. Habs kept Point pointless for 4 straight games a feat no team did this playoffs, ill be proud of that as a Habs fan. Hell of a fun year!. Till next year.
Great game! Better team clearly won. Just hope they realign the divisions correctly so we don’t end up with such a mismatch at the final. I truly believe we would’ve had a much more evenly matched series of these divisions weren’t so lob sided. All the best teams played on the first round. But all that aside congrats on the win Tampa. And congrats on being runners up. Canadiens put up a fight but really couldn’t hang with Tampa. Would like to see the 16-17 Penguins vs the 20-21 Lightning. Can we time travel yet and see that? Since Tampa got 2 shortened cup seasons.
You know what, we did it back to back but I think the Habs played great, and have a bright future ahead of them. Let's not hate, and also the 18 mil over the cap, is actually legal right now, therefore isn't a credible or logical debate. Gg Habs, go Bolts go!!!
@@SamGautreau7 I know it's just that I was watching the Steve Dangle stream and all I saw was clown emojis, and ppl making fun of them for not winning in 4 or going 16 - 0, because the team is 18 mil over the cap.
Do you even watch hockey??? Habs are a terrible team. They got to the finals this year because they just got by to make the playoffs. Next year they won't make the playoffs. You won't see a Canadian team in a final now for like maybe 10 years now. Some bright future.
@Edita Ševčíková It is possible for every team in the NHL to end up in the same situation as the Lightning cap wise. The NHL investigated the circumstances around kucharov and found absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. No rule infraction or circumvention of the league rules. To complain about it doesn't make sense. Every team in the playoff was over the cap let me rephrase that every team the Lightning played, the Panthers, the Hurricanes, they were all over the cap. So did they help the Lightning by being over the cap? I personally don't care for the cap rules. That being said the team played within the existing rules. Complaining about it is pointless. It's like saying someone's piece of birthday cake is bigger than yours. Get a few more players in the Habs will be hoisting the cup over their head
Deserve-schmerve..... if you are talking about deserving a cup 1) the Vancouver Canucks have been to the finals 3 times with 2 game 7s and never won in a half century. Their fans are insanely passionate and knowledgeable. 2) The Buffalo Sabres have crazy loyal fans have never won a cup in 50 years and were robbed by the league blowing a call where a kicked in puck by Brett Hall and won the Stanley Cup. The Habs fans have MANY cups and old stories to reminisce about. There are many more deserving teams than Montreal with Shea and Carey
