Jets fan in the UK here. I literally stayed up all night for this game, ignored the sunrise because I couldn't tear myself away. How can you condense a 3OT game into 8 and a half minutes!? What a game this was, and what a sweep! On to Rd 2 boys! #GoJetsGo
Epic comeback last night!!!! Incredible Scheiffle tying goal!!! And Kyle fkn Connor KFC, with the BEAUTIFUL SERIES SWEEPING GOAL!!!! Omg I’m so happy :-) ✈️🏒🥅♥️♥️♥️
@@Cobra85291 Draisaitl's better than McD. Two goals and a pretty assist in game 3. McDavid a bunch of secondary assists, cheating on offense and sneezing up the puck everywhere.
@moggykirby Thank the refs. There were many surprising numbers from Winnipeg’s shocking sweep over Edmonton, but none more utterly outrageous than this one: Connor McDavid drew zero (0) penalties during the four-game series. Zero. Nada. None. Zilch. ZERO. ... The funny thing is this isn’t new. This actually happened last year, too. Four games against Chicago in the play-in round, zero calls. That’s eight straight playoff or playoff-adjacent games where the referees watched McDavid battle through constant abuse and essentially said “suck it up.” This is, of course, The Playoffs, after all. ... This past season McDavid took 1,182 shifts, drawing 29 penalties. That means that, based on the standard set for his play, McDavid had a 2.5 percent chance of drawing a penalty on any given shift this season. Already that seems ridiculously conservative, but again, that’s the standard. McDavid took 121 shifts in these playoffs over four games. Based on a normal distribution, the chances of drawing exactly zero penalties over a four-game series is just five percent. Not impossible, but highly unlikely that it happens by random chance. We can all use our eyes to see that “random chance” and “ignoring it” were the same thing in this series. McDavid had an eight percent chance of earning six or more calls over the series - which he had every single right to earn. ... Combine both playoffs though and here’s what you get: A 0.9 percent chance that McDavid would earn zero penalties drawn over eight playoff games. ... Referees don’t want to decide the game, but by not calling the rule book they do just that by allowing the team without the puck to bend the rules. It creates a different flow at five-on-five that caters to grinders over skill players, bringing the stars down a notch in the interest of fairness. I didn’t turn on the Jets-Oilers series to watch some random no-name defenceman repeatedly hang off McDavid because they couldn’t keep up. If a player can’t stop a player within the confines of the rules they should be penalized for it, not allowed to do it on every single shift because they know for a fact they won’t get called. ... McDavid somehow drawing zero penalties in back-to-back postseasons should be the final straw. The league’s best and brightest player, its most marketable star, allowed to be manhandled against the rules every night and every shift, forced to fight through something he shouldn’t have to. It won’t be as the league continues to willingly make its incompetence an annual headline rather than allow the best the sport has to offer the ability to thrive on the biggest stage. As it stands now, they’re being continuously hooked and hauled on their way to the spotlight.
@@expls Except McDavid didn't get manhandled or get "hanged off" by the Jets during the playoffs. Demelo and Pionk had his number but they weren't roughing him up, just simply outplaying him defensively. Sure there was hooking, show me a team that wouldn't make that defensive play when McDavid is flying down the ice. All I took from this is that you're heavily biased towards McDavid and think he floats above everyone else when it comes to playoff reffing.
They were crazy during the regular season, even though it was easy they still crushed the Jets. I guess Its not the oilers if they don't choke the playoffs. I think I need a new team
I don't know why people would think the Jets wouldn't have a good chance against the Oilers? They have more foward depth and a really good goalie and decent defense.
@@UzumakiNaruto_ because mcjesus don't you know dude hes the best not even a contest so good he can score play defense and when needed will take over for the goalie and stop 60 shots a period the oilers are called cup favorites every year by the same delusional people that keep lying to everyone and themself about 3 good players and a decent goalie is going to win them a cup absolute joke
An assist and a screen on the tying goal game three, and a give away by leading to the series ending goal in game four. All compliments of the greatest player in the world....
This is the best place to watch highlights. You can hear the players, the play by play the slapshots. You can feel the energy of the game NOT being drowned out by a horrific guitar riff.
To think Winnipeg won against Edmonton in the playoffs for the first time since the WHA back in the 70s... I can't imagine how that feels for Jets fans Hopefully we meet you in round 2 Sincerely A Habs fan
I wonder if Sportsnet will continue to broadcast games if Matthews and McDavid are out? I mean who would they have left to HYPE up once Betteman's Desert Flower and the Golden Boy are out?
As a goalie coach id have to disagree. The goal to win game 3 should have been stopped. He plays way to deep, too often. His set up on the faceoff guaranteed that he wasnt in proper position. Always next year...
Your commissioner was sleeping peacefully until this goal woke me up!!!! Big mad as the young people like to say!!!! No good! But congrats to Winnipeggy - Gary
@@algrundau9441 You call that slewfoot "Weak" because he got away with it a dozen times before making it so obvious they had to call it? How about McDavid holding and pulling on Lowry's stick so he couldn't get back and all his other hooking, holding and interference? How about all the hacks, crosschecks and cheap shots from Draisaitl? Did you not see he was busy taking down Copp, after 4 or 5 crosschecks, while Winnipeg was scoring a goal to go up 2-1? It's in the highlights. But sure the Oilers fan whining about non-calls against "MY PRECIOUS" McPoutyface and Leon "Cheap Shot" Draisaitl.
Much appreciated. So tired of broadcasters going on and on about dynamic duo...shut them down and you win. Jets are a very very DEEP team! Bring on the Leafs
Congrats Winnipeg! As mad as I am right now that we lost 3 overtimes i have got to Congrat Winnipeg. Hope you guys get yourself your first Stanley cup.
@@FCT70 From what the media was saying it would be shocking if either the Jets or Habs even won a single game. Well the Jets won 4 and the Habs have won 2 so far and are going home to the first fan attended game. If they can get to game 7 the Leafs love to blow those games.
Oilers' McDavid and Draisaitl remind me of the Ducks' Kariya and Selanne of the late 90s. High end talent on a team without enough depth to have success in the playoffs.
@@onlydbrasko He wasn't a one hit wonder , he got the Ducks to the finals all by himself in 2003 and was Cup MVP then 4 years later got them to the Cup again and the Ducks won because of him
Bear gives puck up middle and mcdavid shruggs and gasps and complains .....he then goes gives up the game winner in 3ot and shows no emotion and just turns around and skates
@Mohamed Beydoun And a major reason why they lost both games was because of him. So what's the point in scoring all of those goals if you're lazy in every other aspect of the game, and cost your teams critical games?
@@trevmac8362 lol My Oilers fan friends before the playoffs when I reminded them the regular season is over and doesn't mean anything now. "Just wait until Wednesday" After they lost game one. "Just wait until Friday" After game two "Just wait until Sunday" After game four "Just wait until NEXT YEAR" LOL
What a nice pass from McDavid for the series winning goal. Propably some one else mistake. Puljujärvi make one mistake and then he is on the 4 line, because captain said so.
His contract doesn’t end until 2027 and he said he wants to stay with Edmonton as long as possible because he believes we can do good things one day. I’m not making that up he said that himself
@@bc1173 it’s not a rule that you can’t say you want a trade is it? If McDavid wanted a trade trust me we would know by now. And the way he was encouraging everyone on the bench the whole game to play and that he was upset after the loss shows that he genuinely wants this team to go far
As a Jets fan I expected the Oilers to beat us in 5 or 6 games. I'm very impressed how well we played defensively all series. Especially Logan Stanley. We do have some areas to work on in our game to prepare for the second round, but this was a great series to watch.
@@andrewpersaud4144 Read the post: I said entertaining. Each of those team have great coaches that have a team that play very well in all aspects of the game.
@@deonal RU-vid people are notorious for misinterpreting comments and coming up with their own conclusions. By the way I agree with you about the Blue Jays being entertaining 😂
These comments are brutal. Both teams played extremely well. Hockey at its finest! Edmonton has an amazing team, series could have gone either way with so many OTs.
Jets should feel fortunate theyd not have made the payoffs in two of the three divisions they might now make it to the semis thats how poor the canadian div is sadder
I like how some people are blaming Ethan Bear for the "poor" change but if McDavid rimmed the puck around the boards like he was supposed to instead of that limp wristed effort than the REAL Connor wouldn't have had a break away.
That was as good a time to make the long change as it get's. It's not Bear's fault McDavid gave the puck away on a dinky pass. But it seems McPoutyface is beyond reproach so the blame can't go his direction. SMH
what an amazing series by the Jets! If someone had predicted there was going to be a sweep in this series I would have thought it would have been the Oilers winning! I think this is great for Hockey and the City of Winnipeg and they way the Jets won this, I would not be surprised to see the Jets in the finals! mia sententia 🦂👍🥂
Last Oiler to touch the puck before golf season was Connor. If you wanna win the cup in the summer you need to look at how your contract is going to affect the depth of the team.
@John Johnson You would think other teams would learn after Toews and Kane's contracts started and the Hawks crashed and burned. No team has ever won a Cup with even one $10M player nevermind 2 or 3 like the Leafs. Sure Drai only get's $8.5 but he and McD are still $21M combined. I'll take Ehlers and Connor for the same price as McDavid.
@@sebbysavage8448 I never intended to be in the NHL as I have never played ice hockey in my life. So your point is kinda invalid. Have a nice day though.
Was watching it at 2:04 am in the morning kyle score the winning goal and the jets sweet the oilers just an amazing series jets deserve to go on just wanted it so much more then the oilers and you can see it.
Year after year I wonder if a Canadian team will ever win the Stanley Cup again...it's been 28 years. I hope the Jets can bring it home this time, they've got a solid team. Good luck to 'em! -An Oilers fan
It will never happen. The closer a Canadian team comes the worse the officiating fets. The only way that will change is when Canadians quit watching hockey when their team is out.
@@coryjohn4057 That's basically what I do these days. Bettman knows he has the Canadian market down, so why bother when all the money to be made is in the States...
So happy for the Jets. I'm neither a Jets fan or an Oilers hater, so I always cheer for the franchise that hasn't won it the longest and that's definitely the Jets. If my Canucks can't win, then I want the winner to be Winnipeg, Ottawa, Quebec (if they can get a franchise relocated there), Minnesota and San Jose. Also so glad they swept the Oilers for their first and did it after an amazing Connor McDavid season! Haha... you guys shouldn't get Connor McDavid. I wished he and Draisaitl had been successful (individually and team) on the Senators instead. They shut McDavid out 2 games!
I’m an Oilers fan and even I’m laughing at the Oilers 😂 this was easily one of their biggest chokes in franchise history. Getting dominated by the team they dominated in the regular season. 😂
Oilers as usual poor goaltending and not much else after McDavid, Drai, Nurse and RNH. Jets have more depth and deserved this series. I also see the Jets winning the North Div.
Three consecutive OT losses. Yet Oilers dominated Jets 7-2 in regular season matchups. It's a perfect demonstration that playoffs are playoffs, not a continuation of regular season.
Winning six 1 goal regular season games is no more dominating than losing 4 straight 1 goal playoff games. It's just a matter of winning those 1 goal games when it counts. Something the Oilers have been woefully bad at.
@@anythingvideos1250 I don’t know about that. McDavid said that he wants to stay as long as possible, and his contract doesn’t end until 2027. By then the oilers could be a strong team. We were headed in the right direction this year
That's what you get for having players that care more about their own statistics than the teams success. 6 seasons with the Oilers & here's what McDavid & Draisaitl accomplished for Edmonton. 0 Stanley Cups 0 Stanley Cup final appearances 0 Conference playoff championships 0 Conference playoff appearances 0 Presidents Cup trophies 0 Regular season Conference titles 0 Regular season Division titles
Those aren't McDavid accomplishments; those are TEAM accomplishments. Ergo, he needs a strong team behind him and that became glaringly apparent against a much deeper Jets team. Not really his fault.
Last year being curb stomped by the last place Chicago and this year being swept by the Jets. McDavid and Dras deserve more than this. You had some people step up this game but it was too late. Can only carry a team so far. Jets played one hell of a series too, want to see the Jets and Habs play next round.
Thank you sir :) All four games were a thrill to watch Last nights epic comeback was one for the history books and tonight’s triple OT win was another. We Jets fans are beyond happy right now! Will you cheer for us over the leafs/habs?:-)
@@bigem2166 I'm taking the jets to go out of the north but lightning are second favourite team so I'm picking the lightning for the cup. I wouldn't be mad of Winnipeg got the cup there one of my favourite teams too.
It's almost criminal how the commentators completely overlooked the Highmore effect. "Oh Hellebuyck this, Ehlers that, Schiefle this, Stasny that..." What about HIGHMORE?!?
