And Robby fabri wasn’t needed either. He’s a solid player but wings have to many players like him. We need to round out the team which is what Stevie is doing. You need grinders and hitters and defense. You don’t need a whole bunch of little guys.

Yes. Fabbri was traded because he's no better than a 3rd line winger, with a 4mil cap hit. 4.75mil got you Tarasenko, easy decision. Lastly, a bottom 6 winger like Fabbri can easily be replaced by Bergger or a rookie like Kasper, Mazur, Danielson, etc. Walman had a rough 2nd half of the year, and is a LD which we have too many of. Also, Edvinsson proved he'll be challenging for the top pair LD sooner rather than later and was already taking on extra assignments. A Johansson will also be up so more space was needed. The trades were made to maintain cap space by sending players out that don't really have a role. No mystery.

Fabbri was also moved because he wil make 4 million. Vladdy will replace Fabbri's numbers. I think alot of Wings fans are going to like Motte. 1yr at 800k is a steal. Hes a grinder, hes tough as nails, physical and can chip in goals. Him and fischer will make that 4th line hard to play against. He maybe will get 3rd line minutes. He's a really good penalty killer too.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, ..if you're a hockey fan. Interesting take on the caps and pens. biggest mistakes both franchises can make is trying to avoid the inevitable. Mediocre is a bad place in the NHL because you could stay there for years.

Crosby shouldn't sign with the Pens. 87 should get traded at the deadline for a ransom. For example, 87 (50% retained) to Edmonton for Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway, and Sam O'Reilly or a 1st. Maybe 87 for a Ryan Nugent Hopkins package. 87 and 97 win the Cup and bring it back to Canada. 87 restocks the Pens with youth and could return as a UFA. 87 should repeatedly sign 1 year deals with the Pens and get traded for the Cup at the deadline if the Pens aren't in. That would fix the Pens roster and give Sid the best Cup chances.

If Sid wanted another chance at a 4th Stanley Cup then Colorado would have to be considered one of the top candidates if not the top candidate. Sid getting a chance to play alongside of Nathan McKinnon Would tick off a lot of boxes.

@@jonbenjisnomore7935 Boston is the better destination because of less travel. Sid's getting up there and doesn't want to spend most of his time in the air. Colorado has the second most air travel behind Edmonton. That's why the Oilers faltered in 7 games to the Panthers. Travel weariness. If Sid plays in Boston, he'd be in his own bed after coming back from a road trip. Remember these guys aren't just going down the road for a hockey game

You do make some valid points as Boston would be close to both Pittsburgh & Cole Harbour Nova Scotia and the Bruins are a perennial contenders and that & playing with Marchand might be a drawing card. Yet Colorado & Nathan McKinnon would also be a very strong contender for Sid's services.

It’s nice that Cameron is the head Canada coach but it does make me shake my head that the World Jrs. are once again held in Canada. Since the year 2000-2027 that’ll be 13 times the tournament has been held in Canada. I would think the IIHF might want to look at spreading that out a bit more between Europe and Canada. After all it is a world tournament. And I’d like to see the World hockey championships in North America for a change. That would be a challenge what with the Stanley Cup playoffs going on at the same time. As far as the juniors go though let’s at least make it fair to some of the other participants.

The hall rumours to NJ make no sense. 1) as you said. Haula has a NTC. 2) hall has missed 20 games or more in 5 of the last 6 seasons 3) hall has only scored 20 goals in one of the last 6 seasons. 4) hall is 3 million more to the cap if traded for haula and that would leave 2 million to extend foote and mercer.

I find it HIGHLY unlikely that NJ would trade for Hall, especially not for Haula. Haula has been a big part of the heart of this team since he was brought in. Hall wouldn't have a spot other than sitting on IR again.

As far as the Habs and trading for a forward they should. The apparent asks for Necas and Zergas start with Ghule or Reinbacher then plus plus. Due to cost stay away. Liane an elite scoring talent who I personally believe is a guy that wants the spotlight and that’s y he struggled in CBJ. I think the Habs can get him for a package that’s Harris or Barron, Armia to off set a little cost, then a middle 6 potential young forward. That’s the frame work for sure. Zergas only has 2 years left same as Liane so it’s a no brainer

Great report Mike! Re: Habs 1. Loaded with solid young "D" prospects. I could see packaging up Harris or Barron + one of their 1st rounders in 2025 for Necas. I'd be in on that deal. Re: Crosby: 1. As a home grown Bluenoser....I'd love to see Avs sign him....bring the 2 Cole Harbour lads together to make a run for the Cup.....Boooyyyyaaahh!!!!!! 2. Even better is seeing him in a Habs sweater....I've heard it said numerous times that the Habs were his favourite team growing up and he'd love to wrap up his career playing in Montreal!!!! Now....wouldn't that be awesome!!!! Sid still has 3-5 top tier years left in him. 3. Avs need to trade Nichuskin....as unfortunate as his personal struggles have been he has single handedly let his team down in the playoffs 2 years in a row. If he plays in the 2024 playoffs Avs could have been in Cup final vs Panthers!! He's NOT dependable/reliable sadly. Time to ship him out.

I absolutely would love Cindy F’ing Crosby to go to my most hated team the Colorado Avalanche! I’m a die hard Red Wings fan! I have hated Cindy ever since the 08 and 09 playoff runs. He always shows his true colors when he is losing. So I can actually like the Pittsburgh Penguins again and root for them to win when they play most any other team, but my Wings team…obviously! Lol Please God!! Let Crosby get traded to the Avalanche! That is where he has pretty much always belonged anyway! 🙏🙏🙏

I don’t see Sid leaving unless it’s his very last year maybe 2 last years. If he did that he is only going to 1 of 2 places in my opinion. If he did leave it’s almost guarantied that it would be to join McKinnon for a cup run. There’s also a very small chance he joins his childhood team, the Habs, to make a cup run with them as they would be ready by then. I’d say 90% he is a pen for life 7% he goes with McKinnon and 3% chance he joins the habs. Sid seems like a team for life guy so highly unlikely, it really depends on if he wants 1 last shot

Just because Crosby appeared in a Tim Horton's commercial with McKinnon doesn't make them friends. Crosby has more in common and history with Brad Marchand than with McKinnon. Idk if it's just me but I'm confused as to what Detroit had been doing the last couple of years. They make some head scratching moves that doesn't really improve them year to year. They are kind in the same place they have been...but shuffle their roster around like they are Vegas.

The only thing I question is the draft strategy (every year we draft the 200 ft third line player) and yzerman stepping on the gas in the bedard draft. I am kind of worried we will become the new Minnesota Wild

It seems like he trades guys in and out and things haven't gotten thst much better, kinda like the wings are stuck. But I guess I'm wrong. It's not like I want you guys to be bad. Lol I hope you guys can break through and be a regular playoff team again. I actually also really like the young guys you guys have. Especially on D and in the net.

Lots of head scratching with the Wings. 1st case in point - no NHL team keeps a losing coach for SEVEN years unless you're Detroit. 2nd case in point - Blashill was hired without any NHL head coaching experience for SEVEN losing years, and now we have Lalonde in that same experience boat. Good teams rebuild in 4 years time & better teams rebuild in 3. Detroit's rebuild is now in its 8th year. Larkin's career has been squandered during this time. Will this happen to Seider & Raymond? You have to wonder because Yzerman did not make that big splash that we were hoping for with the free agents that were available.

Never said they are a contender, I just said they have made a bunch of changes are on paper at least look like they should be better…at least they’ve made a bunch of moves they are trying. They added PLD, Mangiapane, Chychrun, Roy and Logan Thompson. Good amount of change.

Crosby is the greatest player of his generation, the guy is already a legend. Personally, I think it would be a crime to hockey if he sits out the rest of his career in Pittsburgh. The fans need to see Crosby in the play-offs, he's too good not to. Crosby and MacKinnon on the same team would be awesome to watch 😎
