Now THAT is a promo ! Nick Bockwinkel is the most underrated World Champion in the history of the industry. He may have actually been the best. In the ring , on the mic , his athleticism, his appearance - he had no weaknesses.... R.I.P.
@@damonmcfarland9364 That belt was made by prisoners in a prison lol most belt enthusiasts even refer to it as the "Inmate Belt". At least, that's the story we've all heard.
Nick Bockwinkel was the Greatest of World Champions during his, or any era of professional wrestling. The only reason that Ric Flair is considered the greatest is that the vast majority of people are cretinous humanoids.
@@CP-kb1du Do Your Homework ! Hogan REFUSED THE BELT BECAUSE VERNE GAGNE WANTED HALF OF HOGANS JAPAN EARNINGS BOCKWINKLE PUT EVERY WRESTLER OVER BY ALLOWING THEIR COMEBACKS IN A MATCH IM 60 YEARS OLD MR NO NAME WHEN DID YOU START WATCHING AS FOR NICK LOOKING LIKE A REGULAR GUY AT A BAR HOW MANY DRESSED LIKE THIS CLASSY TOUGH BRIILLIANT LEGEND WHO WORKED AGAINST AN BEAT THE BEST GO BACK TO SCHOOL READ HOGANS BOOK YOU WOULDNT LAST 2 MINUTES WITH NICK .
Total class act this guy. I love the fact he was so well spoken and intellectual in a domain portrayed by many as emptyheads and barbarians. Love his promos and articulate talking
He was very articulate, very much a to-the-point kind of a Wrestler, and, after he spoke his mind, off he went. He knew that sticking around, constantly running his mouth, was like beating a dead horse. He wasn't into that... thankfully!!!
@@MrAitraining You know, people keep pointing to two main Wrestlers, Hogan and Flair, as being two of the best of all time. I personally get sick and tired of seeing Incredibly talented Championship Wrestlers such as Nick Bockwinkel being overlooked... time after time after time after time!!! Nick Bockwinkel held the Heavyweight Championship Belt for many years as a Wrestler, and he should be named as one of the All-Time Greats. Is he named as such? No! It's a load of manure, in my opinion! Nick Bockwinkel-The Man, The Champion, The LEGEND!!!
I was gutted when I couldn’t make my way to Winnipeg to see Flair vs Bockwinkle way back in the early 80s. My mom hated wrestling so trying to convince my parents I NEEDED a to travel the 250 miles to Winnipeg to se a wrestling show ,was not going to happen. But thanks to the internet that match is on RU-vid and it is as amazing as it sounds. Can’t remember if it was belt for belt but wow what a match. Winnipeg was lucky to get alot of amazing wrestling cards.
I love the way Bockwinkel varies his cadence and inflection in order to draw you in. Roman Reigns should be mandated to listen to and learn from promos like this.
@@natmason5528 Yes, it has. I think that Bockwinkel would wrestle up north and in California, but I'm pretty sure that he would refuse the southern leagues and Texas matches in 2024. Why? Guns.
I watched Heenan on some video and he said that Nick was so smart that when you asked what the time was he would respond by telling you how to build a watch.
Why couldn't Ric Flair and Nick Bockwinkel work together in the same group? The answer is simple:Ego! Both of these legends were full of ego, and they couldn't stand each other. They would've been constantly vying for the Heavyweight Championship Belt, and it would've ripped the Legendary Four Horsemen to shreds!!!
When you think about it both Nick & Ric had similar "characters" the I am BETTER than you type, but while growing up I loved Flair I actually think Nick pulls it off so much better. He was more articulate & rarely ever resorted to shouting which comes across as better than you persona. When you resort to the yelling and screaming that Flair used to do it showed you he was getting flustered. Nick never got flustered to the point of screaming.
Awa was backwoods territory, Chicago was promoted by awa, gagne, and bob luce, who I believe was a wwa promoter,Chicago being the biggest city, rest of the country didn't know nick bockwinkel, he traveled some to Japan, Houston and Memphis but wasn't a national figure
The Simpletons. The Humanoid Eight to Five Lifers. Nick Bockwinkel was GOLD on the Stick. Today's Wrestlers need these old clips for Promo Class. Here's to Yesterday. I wish today's product could be this good.
Bockwinkel was, in real life, a very articulate individual with wonderful command of the english language. He was exceptionally intelligent, and no one in the sport could hold a candle to him when it came to expressing yourself. It's a bit of a shame, given his chosen profession, that these qualities pretty much forced him to come off as a snob. Check out some of the interviews of him "out of character". Very impressive stuff.
The genius of old school main event heels is that they knew how to demean top faces whilst also putting them over. You're left in no doubt that Bockwinkel doesn't want to face the unpredictable Brody and want to see what will happen.
ahhh, back in the day when they could rip on a city, a state, or a sports team.....now there are too many snow flakes allowing their feelings to be hurt...I loved the old AWA wrestlers...
