I’m not sure underrated is the right word. It’s very good, yes. It has been getting a lot of attention though. I think “up and coming” would be a better way to describe it.
Since he started high school, Nico has shown that he not only embraces doing the work but has high running IQ starting with knowing himself. This video shows both.
@@jp05598 One of the staple workouts in the Jack Daniels Running Formula is mile repeats @ threshold (T) w/60-90s rest between reps. It's been around forever and it's cool to see the best distance coach in the US keeping it simple.
@@jp05598he’s referring to Jack Daniels, a longtime and highly regarded distance running coach. “T” refers to threshold, which is the effort/pace the guys ran. If you don’t know what threshold pace is many people say it’s running at a pace that’s uncomfortable but not super painful. Nick Willis says at threshold pace once you finish a threshold rep you should feel as if you can run another mile at that pace if you had to
@@jp05598he’s referring to a threshold session that the coach Dr. Jack Daniels would have employed. Dr. Daniels is the man who theorized that 180spm running cadence is ideal (not sure I agree with him on that). However, he does have some good training methodologies.
Incredible workout pace in between NCAA indoors and the Ten. Now Nico is the fastest collegiate ever over the 10000m distance. Love the insights behind such an incredible group of runners.
Incredible timeliness uploading this video! And great workout by the NAU team as a whole. Young looks like he is in good enough shape to run sub 27 minutes this weekend.
Go Nico. He exudes confidence. Surprised there isn’t a line of autograph seekers. Wouldn’t that be special to break 27 flat. This could potentially go down as one of the greatest weeks in collegiate T&F history.
Absolutely fantastic videos, so darned real. I like how the team is out there in the cold (and the high elevation I have never experienced what thats like, is it like suffocating?) Just curious, would a 15 minute 5K runner be allowed onto this team (XC and/or track) and I dont mean running that as a freshman but like a junior or senior, or would it be too much of a distraction and they're simply not set up for a team size beyond a certain threshold?
