Our boys fate was suffering an incomprehensible madness for 8 millennia. He tried to save a broken world, only for the deep impact of an emotion, of a long gone memory of the people he cherished deeply. Tragedy is the an absolute understatement I am glad that he at least remembered Kaine in the end. Bitter sweet salvation
Emil deserves his suffering. He's a monster, after all. Destroying thousands of innocent lives. Then, killing destroying humanity. I like how Emil always loses in this series. Especially here, to two random androids. So much for the "ultimate weapon "

The Fact that Pod says: Alert Magical Weapons from the Old world detected. Magical Elements have a High Probability of penetrating all defense systems. Proposal: EVADE. Wich means that the Magic wich was Used in NieR Replicant seems to be so strong it can destroy the modern defense system. Its insane how strong NieR must have been with Grimoire Weiss.
i can imagine... i still havent really played much of the first game. but when i came across this, i still felt something. i felt the anguish behind the clones. i outright shiver when i hear emil speak out kaine's name.
No matter how many times I go back to this sequence, it breaks me more each time. The reason Yoko Taro never writes off Emil from NieR is perhaps because Emil is supposed to represent Yoko Taro as a character in the game. He's always there to oversee the events that unfold throughout history - the only other person besides Emil that can see those unfold are the player and the author/director.
Even more than that...in drakengard you can even hear emils song. Emil existed way before nier...because drakengard was where it all began....the beginning of nier replicant....
I’m so glad I accidentally skipped SOMEHOW this whole quest while playing the game for the first time. Now, after I played through Replicant 1.22 as well, I can finally accept these tears and emotions with all myself.
I remember my first and only death during this fight. Died because the tears legitimately blinded me for a second and I didn’t notice the attack that killed me. I refused to heal the whole fight.
One thing I never see mentioned in analysis on this fight is how Emil’s clones embody the worst aspects of NieR in Replicant/Gestalt He engages in otherization, framing the opponent as someone whose problems are entirely irrelevant, almost seeming to tell them that they’re a fool for even believing that they could understand his suffering, despite the fact that both Emil and the androids have been fighting this war for literal millennia In this moment, his clones become the hero he so looked up to, and Emil can’t even realize that what NieR did was wrong as it stares him in the face A+ character writing right there
then again the machines did ruin the surprise as they used guns, magic and a bio engineered god like thing..... to keep the war going with the androids, that and the dark side of the earth has dragons manufactured by the androids bleeding with maso {or how ever you spell it} the source of such magics in the world
This hits so different after Replicant…To think his grief and despair while trying to fight for the world he and his friends lived in, the same friends he loved and lost. But he still kept fighting, but he crumbled from his own heartaches and pain; hearing him describe his journey and friends made me cry…
5:26 what makes this more interesting, is that 2B was made *from* Kaine. Well, Number 2 was made from “a woman who loved her grandmother very much”, and A2 was made from Number 2, and 2B from A2, so yeah, when Emil says “isn’t that right Kaine”, he’s speaking to what little remains of her.
The "I want to... see you again. I want to see all of you again... just one more... time. I'm scared. I don't want to... die..." we got in Replicant only to see him alive and well after ending B to "Oh... hey! There you are... I'm so glad... I got to see you all again..." and subsequently dying will always be a contrast that will never not make me shed a tear. At the start, he was filled with so much innocent hope that he sacrificed himself even though the thought of losing everything he'd worked towards in the process scared him beyond all else. All in an effort to return the favor to the friends who supported him through it all by being a good friend in their time of need. Because of the hope he held in his heart that he would one day reconnect, even in the face of certain death, he endured to live on with purpose in him yet. Despite losing everything else in that moment, that intangible hope was enough to keep him going. But even when that wasn't enough to save his friends and the value he found in them, he selflessly sacrified even more of himself until nothing was left. He sought to become greater than just a weapon of war, to share kindness and find peace in belonging, but because he only knew how to fight for what he loved, he found himself helplessly dragged into the very purpose he was designed to fulfill. In the war, he lost his friends, his body, his individuality, his memories, his world, his purpose, and with it all his hope. In the end, all he became was a commodified weapon of war, and all they were driven by was pain and despair brought about by loss and isolation. Aged and disparaged, at this point, all of the aspects of himself that motivated him were a pipe dream in the world he lived in now, the remaining memories of which becoming so hurtful to consider that they may as well have been anathema to his current self. But through his enduring selfless nature compelling him to give back to a world that gave him so much, he found connection through his role as a traveling salesman. Through the kindness and belonging of 2B and her hope in him triumphing over the demons of his past, Emil overcame his fear of death and came around to accept his end, satsfied in how he finally regained everything he desired and sought for all this time. (And yes, that was because he finally was able to reconnect with you, dear player.)

6:30 this might be just speculation and I'm probably wrong, but that sounds a lot like a flatline. Which solidifies the fact that even though he doesn't look like one, Emil is human and has a big heart.
The real tragedy is that Emil's account of Nier isn't even correct. The only thing he cared about was getting Yonah and killing Shades. They never tried to save the world, in fact they accomplished quite the opposite.
For at least most of Replicant, and possibly all of it, the main character thought he was saving the world from shades by defeating the shadowlord. Remember, only Kaine could actually understand shades.
really 10s hardest time, It took me second to stop him from suicide. It almost impossible to locate his position by look on screen and get close within 10s. I had to rely on mini map.
What I ended up doing before this fight with Emil, was finish Replicant and then I came back even after finishing Automata. This was before I knew that Emil was more or less a post-game boss.
other then the weapons maxed, what do you have to do to get to this fight? there is nothing on how to get to this fight on the net. they all point out the emill lvl 99 one but no this one....
After first fight near Emil hide out, a sub mission mark will appear in abandoned shopping center, following it will lead you to this battle in desert but have to be in later chapter play as 9S or A2, I seen people fight as 2B but in I cant find this quest available with 2B so in my playthrough I beat him with 9S
@@kanapham1210 once you max out every weapon, you can use chapter select to get this fight with whichever character you like. If you want to play as 2B, start any of her chapters, and get to this mission
