I see where the Nigerian girls got those "buns" from... lots of oil to cook! But you all are gorgeous people!! And the food looks so yummy, bad luck for me I never cook it well, whenever I try one of your dishes it's a mess in my kitchen hahahah I'll keep trying tho. Blessings to all!

Hello big aunty. Thanks for the videos. We still watching and learning years later. I learnt this, cakes and almost all snacks from your site around 2013, then we comment our different questions no matter how stupid you will still answer, you taught me measuring without scale (1 peak tin cup of sugar is 180g). And yes, I made pasteries for sale with your recipees and I got so much good coments. With plenty foodtubers now, I feel I am been unloyal watching their videos, so I stick to yours. Thank you so much for all you do. I LOVE YOU GREATLY MA.

Tried it and it came out yummy 😉. I weighed the mixed dough and divided equally. Good tip not to have oil too hot. Thank you for the recipe I was craving buns so much.

Glad you love the videos! Two buns professionals showed me how to make this, they did not use eggs so I don't know how using eggs will affect the recipe.

I'm glad you love these recipes! Your friend may have customized this recipe to spice it up or she may have prepared a completely different snack. We don't normally add coconut flakes to Nigerian buns but I don't think it will do any harm to this recipe. So feel free to add coconut flakes and see how it goes. :))

Hi, I tried the recipe with baking soda, without cream of tartar. The only observation I made was that the outer part of the buns was very crunchy. All in all, the buns turned out great. Thanks!

Yes, I made another batch yesterday, with less water and it was less crunchy than the first batch I previously made. Thanks for your direction!

Puff Puff is definitely easier on the mouth than Buns! It's perfect for you Nigerians in America that can have puff puff for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Only 6??
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 11 лет назад
You see? It pays to experiment! Well done girl! :) I'm guessing it's very crunchy because the dough contains a tad more water. I find that if I add a bit more water, the dough smoothens too much during frying hence creating a seal and the "crunch". Next time, you can play with using a bit less water and see if it reduces the crunchiness. Good job! :)

Baking powder = Baking soda + cream of tartar. This means that when you want to use baking soda in a recipe that calls for baking powder, you will need to add cream of tartar. But I have never done this so I do not know how the Nigerian buns dough will turn out if a combination of baking soda and cream of tartar is added to it. You can try it and see how it goes. :)

I made this recipe and tho it tastes good but it doesn't come out round n beautiful as this, mine had all different kind of shapes n it was ugly, wish I can share some pix; plus the first time I tried it, it was really hard so this time I had to add a lot of water to make it soft, like I said the taste was original but they don't look as good as yours n they still kind of hard n crunchy. Any suggestions?
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 8 лет назад
Mmh ... For Nigerian buns to have strange shapes, the only thing I can think of is that the mix was too watery. People usually have the strange shape episodes with Nigerian Puff Puff but not with this one because the dough for this one is thick. But if you only got cracks, that's fine. Yes that's right, this is supposed to be very dense inside and the outside crunchy which is why it is sometimes referred to as rock buns. :)

All Nigerian Recipes loll i just made this and i a bit miffed. i was goin for soft on the inside crunchy out but mine came out scary ugly 😂 and its crunchy buns no density.. just all crunchy. i bruised myself eating it, edible sure but so confused why it came out like tht. help!
