@Natalia Baptiste in a capitalist society, competition is seen as good because if you want to succeed, the competition with other businesses will force you to work harder and smarter. Since CV is allowing western influence in, of course it will be expected to keep up and conform to the ways of the world. Unfortunately, CV is not independent enough to make sure our market benefits it’s people more than foreigners. The corrupt filth in the government will continue to sell CV out of its resources, and there’s almost nothing the average civilian can do, other than vote those people out. I live in the USA, and I have noticed that out of all African immigrants, Nigerians and Ghanaians are the most respected. Why is that? Because many Nigerians will come here, get their education and make connections, then go back to Nigeria and use their western knowledge and education to enrich their country so that Nigeria can compete on a world level. This is something CV can learn from the Nigerians, because from what I’ve seen, wherever Cape Verdeans immigrate to, we tend to stay. We don’t go back to CV en mass to enrich CV. If anything, the US deports CV-born criminals back to CV. So now we have a growing population of westernized criminals who do not love CV, a corrupt government full of greedy and evil individuals, relations with foreign countries that do not benefit us, and all people want to do is complain about “manjacks” as if they are CV biggest problem. With Nigeria’s status in African and how they are seen by the world (not just CV), we have much to learn from them and it would benefit us to strengthen relations with our neighbors on the mainland. I understand your view and fear of CV being overrun by foreigners, but immigrants from the mainland are the least of our concerns. As for the Chinese, they do a good job at assimilating (every country in the world appreciates immigrants who assimilate) the only thing is, CV government must make sure that we are benefiting from them and their business. More business means more revenue created for a country. As long as CV is getting a portion of the profit from these Chinese businesses, I do not see a problem.

I see some Cape Verdean ranting that Nigerians should go. why is Nigerians even going to poor unappreciated country to invest? Sometimes i wonder how Africans think about other africans and they will welcome white peoples with happiness and after they will complain about racism. Poor African countries always make much noise.

The CV's on here saying these things are trolls. In Cape Verde there are many Nigerians and people are not rude to them, CV people are very welcoming, if you go to CV you will see what I mean. It's a hospitable country.

Most capverdeans are mixed people (portugal/west africans). We cape verdeans are NOT nigerians or portugese we ARE CAPEVERDEANS. Yes, we are part of africa but that doesn't mean you guys are welcomed in our country. Plus most foreigners in CV aren't even integrated, they don't speak creole or portugese.

Most slaves that were brought over to the cape verdean islands were from the west coast of africa (mostly from Guinea Bissau, Mauritania and senegal) by the portuguese who discovered and settled on the islands. Nigeria is almost central africa. Therebare plenty of websites or yt videos that can explain clearly to you where and how we originated.
