"Creepy crawlies and the date for the formal, that's classic spanky" Everything that comes out of Tom Atkins is really quotable and the movie is a fun joy ride and it's a hybrid movie of its own charm and beauty
LOVED THIS MOVIE! It was a video rental back in the late 80's, that became a cult classic for our group of friends. "I've got good news and bad news. The good news is your dates are here. What's the bad news? THEY'RE DEAD!"
Fantastic cult 80s film. Great practical effects, especially the beginning with the infected alien releasing the creeps onto planet earth. Also has the always great actor - Tom Atkins, from other classics like - Maniac Cop, Creepshow, Escape from New York and Halloween 3 season of the Witch. And he's great in this film also, witch is a good thing as the lead teenage boy character in the film has no charisma and delivers his line's like he's reading them off the back of a passing bus. But despite the lead character having the charisma and good looks of a discarded slice of ham, the film more than makes up for it with the effects, sense of humour and the likeability & good acting(from Tom Atkins) It's Miller Time!
This movie was 1 of my favorite movies growing up(sh-t, still is today). I usually double feature it with either "the Monster Squad" or "the Return of the living dead" whenever I rewatch it.
NOTC has a certain special fun charm to it that no horror fan can deny. It definitely sits in a class of films within the genre itself that are made up of pure entertainment and sub genre blending perfection. It's such a shame that we can't get more fun horror movies like this nowadays. But I am glad this eventually got proper HD releases, recognition and love that it truly deserves.
Jill Whitlow was one of the most beautiful woman of the '80s IMO. That image of her in a prom dress holding a flamethrower is one of the most iconic images of 80s horror IMO.
I was in 6th grade when this came out, so it was about a year later that I actually saw it, but I totally loved this movie. I’ve seen it dozens of times, and it was one of the first times that my friends and I started calling the actor “Tom Action”, instead of Atkins. We still refer to him as that to this day😆 He obviously thrilled us.
I remember first watching this on Zombie Week '95 on Sci-Fi channel hosted by Rob Zombie (who said this movie sucked). I love everything from the one-liners, the zombie effects, and the wacky humor. "THRILL ME."
I was born in 1987 and my parents raised me on alot of the mainstream horror/thriller classics like Halloween, The Exorcist, Salem's Lot, Duel, Christine, Night Of The Living Dead, The Fog, Creepshow, etc. However, I didn't discover this movie until just a few short years ago and damn I gotta say, I absolutely loved it! Tom Atkins absolutely brings it in this movie!!
I wanted to see this ever since I saw the trailer on the vhs of Monster Squad. Not soon after that it hit cable and I had a new favorite movie. At a single digit age I realized the glorious love letter to B-movies with everyone having the last names of all the top genre directors. I still love this as much as I did then (probably more)💕
Love this movie. Campy, great lines, cool kills and alien slugs "I've got some good news and some bad news for ya. The good news is your date is here.........." "What's the bad news?" "They're dead!!!!!!
Near and dear to my heart - I have turned so many folks on this picture. I hope that Sony or Scream Factory see fit to give this a 4K treatment with Atmos. I love this film.
Indeed...such a fun, entertaining film! I never could quite figure out, however, what JC intended to do with the matchbook except as a convenient way for the movie to show the silver bullet...it's not like he was going to get up and put the match near the fire extinguisher.
This is one of my favorites. I always thought the detective got killed in the explosion or fire that he sets off, but I saw it later and realized it was just some other guy. The detective definitely stole the show.
Great overview of the development, execution and release of this now classic B film, complete with studio executive decisions actually managing to make the final product better. 1986 was a strange year for horror with films ranging from shite to absolute instant masterpieces and Night Of The Creeps easily ranks in the top five offerings, with the very enjoyable Chopping Mall slightly behind it.
What is refreshing about your channel, is on vids like this you don't spoil the movie entirely. So many other channels do and its very annoying. Thanks.
I saw this movie a couple of years ago for the first time and I thought it was great. I love the cast I love the story and I thought it was enjoyable from the beginning until the end.
Night of The Creeps was one of those movies i rented on VHS when I was 12 and fell in love with it. It was fun yet at times Creepy (no pun intended). I see it as an A- movie, it takes 50s crime/Sci-Fi/Horror cliches and Blends it with 70s Zombie movies and 80s Slasher and Teen comedy movies and somehow makes them work by structuring them all together so well. My only issue with the film is Chris and Cynthia don’t really have any chemistry in the movie. Also the ending wasn’t really that great, both of them. Although I would say the spaceship one is more interesting.
Having JC be able to walk but only through having the slugs control him was heartbreaking. It wouldn’t have worked had he not been disabled. That’s how you do a payoff.
The only problem with reviewing awesome movies like this? I just watched a good 10 JoBlo videos and was going to watch a bunch more but, now I need to watch Night of the Creeps again lol Thanks for reminding me of how much I love this movie!
The aliens were hilarious because they looked clearly like men in costumes, but the rest of the film actually has a darker tone which makes me unable to call this film comedy. I just watched and I think I liked it.
Actually, I did see it. A lot better than Animal House. Only lingering moment that always disturbed me: how is it that ALL the frat boys were killed in what appears to be a relatively contained bus accident? I mean, most of them should have emerged with, um, little more than a broken arm or bloody nose? But in zombies from outer space movies, I realize one doesn't quibble silly plot points: this IS, after all, a movie about zombies. Still: The Blob is much better.
I done seen it 20x. Most people watching this have seen it. Your prejudice has to stop. How bout trading that RU-vid plague with, "The movie you haven't seen in a very very very very very very long time". Thanks for the video
I got heavily into 80s horror movies a few years ago. Tapeheads and the community love this film. Me even though born in the early 80s never came across this film before. I was excited since my deep diving into the genre "Night of the creeps" always popped up as a community classic. All i can say is, i was disappointed. The film is too much all over the place, its a zombie film, parasite(slugs) film, aliens, thriller, colllege drama. It is way too much ending up being little at all.
