I'm not sure how much use it would be for a car with LED headlights - especially on main beam, but it would then be an okay dashcam! It is probably very good for those people still driving with off white halogen headlights and I love the suggestion for it's use on boats! Boat based FLIR can be incredibly expensive! It might be worth lending it out to a boat testing channel for a future colab or something or just lend it to them. Nick at Aquaholic or the Motor Boat and Yachting channel or someone? I also think about the poor night vision of our reverse camera's, my E-Niro's is fine in the day but terrible at night, so maybe the makers of this could look at a simpler version just for reversing cameras?

I have done a few jobs for the RSPB when I have done some night time patrols on their nature reserves looking for poachers where this would have been very useful. I’m surprised by how good it is. I think it would a life saver for those serving in Ukraine!

And with an EV you could turn off the pedestrian sound and properly creep up on the poachers!

Think this is a great idea for motorhome or campers as when parking you don’t want to have blinding light which could disturb other people ideal for parking at night in tight spaces.

Great video, thanks for posting as its definitely an interesting product unlike any other dash cam I've cone across before. I currently use a rear view mirror type dash cam connected to a rear view camera as well. It records in FHD front and back and produces some great footage, but sometimes as per your test the brighter lights especially from cars behind at night can cause the quality to suffer slightly. The Lanmodo unit might be ideal for the emergency services/ search and rescue teams to use. 🤔

Yes - but it can struggle a bit if there’s lots of bright lights around

We live on an unlit lane with no pavement, and we get lots of pedestrians walking to work to the care home nearby. In the dark it's dangerous as these people don't wear suitable clothing like a hiviz. This could be just what we need. £500 is a small price to pay to avoid running someone over.

Why is the m1 more expensive than the vast pro? What's the difference between the two?

Vast Pro has the camera built into the screen rather than separate. Could be okay depending on how you’re going to mount it.

So many local councils are turning off street lights and replacing those that are left with dim LED lights so it could be useful around town. £500 though ? The price is the problem.

Dim LED lights? The ones in my street are like it's daylight at 1am! So much so, that my CCTV stays in day mode to record everything in colour!

@@computerbob06 You are very lucky then, A few years ago, in Corby, the then county council took out half the lights, instead of both sides of the street they are on one side only and are very dim LED lights. Then thewy keep putting our council tax up by the maximum they are able.

Could you drive by it or would that be going too far ; might tempt you to inadvertently turn off your headlights ? It really is a genuine night vision camera .

Off road sure - not sure I’d recommend that for road use for obvious reasons!

Looks good but I share your concerns re distraction, even legality? At that price I’ll give it a miss I don’t go out enough at night to justify it

Legality wise it’ll be like any other accessory like this - mounting it sensibly is key.

Your comments about not seeing the point of a dashcam are ridiculous. You have obviously never had the misfortune to be forced off the road by an idiot driver , if you had, you would get one in an instant. I obviously speak from experience. Please rethink your opinion on dashcams.
