True - and Henk actually learned how to growl, to add more grit, and just two days before the performance, too. You can see that in her reaction when he's starting to do that - at 4:23...
In the show beste zangers, they called henk poort ''Uncle Henk'' because he is like the sweet funny uncle at parties. and he is way older then all of the other people there. but when he starts singing, he always sounds so professional and serious. Its amazing because the moment he stops singing he laughs at the people on the couches and he starts cracking jokes again.
Man.... this rabbit hole can get deep. Soooo many brilliant songs from Nightwish and Floor. She has a lot of wonderful songs from Zangers. So many of their songs are so different as well.

Good to know that Floor was a fan of Henk when he played the Dutch Phantom, so in this show she got a dream come true to sing this song from the musical with her idol. And Henk learned to sing with distortion just for Floor.

The clap of thunder at the very start of the performance is not an effect but the real thing - very appropriate. The ensuing storm resulted in water pouring through the canvas roof of the set. Nature adding its voice to the song.
Damn Henk is amazing and the perfect person to sing with her. The talent on that song is incredible! I just remember when this came out and all my lady friends were in love with this original song. Love this version so much more.
Henk Poort has been an established operasinger for over 30 years, also does musicals and now has done a great show with Floor in Amsterdam, All sold out, but cos of Covid lock down, 4 out of 10 concerts were cancelled.. Floor saw him live when she was 8 years old and is a big fan. Andrew Lloyd Webber once called Henk one of the greatest Phantoms ever. Greetings from Holland , tx for the video 🍀

Been catching up on your journey. Floor is. Any adjective falls short of her. I've heard this dozens of times, and still get choked up a little. Floor is a Valkyrie, come down to Midgard to show us poor mortals what singing was supposed to be. And Henk is also amazing. They did a few duets. The folks on the stage there reacting were also professional singers, and you can see how blown away they are. She's mesmerizing. Just...yeah.
I have seen a number of reactors have a real physical & emotional experience with Floors voice. We understand. ;) Henk played the Dutch Phantom on stage for many years and Floor was fan girling over him, so this was special, & I think we feel that. :) Do check out the Nightwish version with their first singer Tarja too as it is special as well, & you get a taste of their original singer. That version showcases Marcos great singing as well. :)

They used Tuomas Holopainen's arrangement here. Since this 2019 performance on Beste Zengers, they were going to have Henk join Nightwish to do this in concert, but postponements happened when the world shut down. Nightwish did this on their 2002 album 'Century Child'. Check out their performance from 2005's End of an Era concert. Just to be clear this is Floor by herself, no Nightwish. Everything from this show is amazing but her cover of Shallow is just fantastic. Nightwish did do a version of this song with their first singer Tarja Turenen and Marko as the Phantom that is equally amazing. Definitely worth checking out as well. Marko kind of steals the show.

Marben, Henk Poort was THE Phantom in the Netherlands and a big idol for Floor. She said, he influenced her way to music. Watch the show, there are even episodes with subs.
Oh no. You said the words: "Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite musicals of all time." That right there means that right after this you must check out Tarja's version with Nightwish from the End of an Era. This would be your first introduction to Nightwish's first singer. You would also hear more Marko! You need to do this. As good as this version is, as amazing as Floor is, Tarja's version with Nightwish, in this particular case, is hands down my favorite rendition of the piece I have ever heard. I say that loving this version dearly, mind you, but it loses a little not having Nightwish behind them. You will be blown away, and then you can continue your Nightwish journey as originally planned. :-)
I find anything from the End of an Era concert very uncomfortable knowing how much venom existed at the time. Yes the Tarja/Marco version is stunning, and has to be watched, but this version is so full of love and friendship, in my opinion it is the ultimate version.
This is the reason why my pet name for Floor is The Soul Piercer.. As she is able to portray every emotion that’s within a song and finds a straight line into your heart with it.. You don’t (only) hear her singing, you feel it.. On this show she also did a cover of Gaga’s “Shallow”, which she gave a couple of extra levels of depth with her performance.. Same goes for her cover over Heart’s “Alone”.. Floor is just such an empath..

Queen to D6 - checkmate. The music part of this was a watered down version of the Nightwish Version of this. They did it with there first singer Tarja (Tar-y-ah). That one will also blow your mind but maybe not for the reason you think. Enjoy the rabbit hole that is Nightwish in all their era's. They are their own genre after all.
'Shudder before the beautiful' The Wembley opener or 'Yours an empty hope' are the right follow uppers I think. Both great, impressive up tempo heavy metal songs that will blow your socks off. Or stay for a moment at 'Beste Zangers' and experience 'Winner', a very emotional song, you will notice.

Love your reactions, keep going on your Nightwish journey, I'm following you :) A small advice: you can pause/restart the video with the space bar, and you can rewind/forward with the left/right arrows. Try it, pretty easy and convenient, and you don't have to precisely target with your mouse.
Your reaction was pretty much the same as everyone else's when they heard this totally astonishing performance. I like that you're exploring some of the branches of the Nightwish tree. Floor has released quite a few videos recorded from her home during Covid and they are all complete bangers. Favourites for me are Let it Go (yes, that one from Frozen) and Euphoria. While exploring these side passages check out Auri. It's a project involving Tuomas, Troy and Johanna Kurkela (Tuomas's beautiful wife). She has an extraordinary voice too and I think you'll enjoy her distinctive sound. I think The Space Between would be a good place to start with them. I have lots more suggestions for you but I don't want to overwhelm your suggestion box.

I so so wish, I would see the day, when Marco and Floor would duet this. I just loved Marco at the 'End of an Era' with Tarja (who was outstanding on her own and absolutely owning this musical masterpiece) but I love how much emotion Floor did put into her role. Perhaps you want to check out Marco and Tarja doing Phantom of the Opera with actual Nightwish? I love both renditions. And whilst your'e on the end of an era selbst, please check out Nughtwish doing an Pink Floyd cover with High Hopes.

Henk Poort was also the Phantom throughout his career, and Floor has been a long time fan of Henk Poort. This was her dream come true. Now they are best friends, and collaborate musically all the time. When either of them does a solo concert, they invite each other to sing at their shows. You should check out their other duets.
