If you put this song in the context of when this was played it get's even more amazing. This was the last concert with Tarja - which these guys knew, but Tarja did not. So Tuomas was on the edge of a nervous breakdown and Jukka had a heavy migraine and still did play. You see him holding his head during his first break... Still they did it - the keyboard, the drums, Marco's piercing voice and Emppu's guitar solo's. A real masterpiece.
Dude, I seriously cannot recommend this one enough. Amazing song, and you get to see more of his vulnerable side rather than his raw power, as displayed here.
Marko has been in the music business basically non-stop since the early 80s and the path has included alcoholism, so it isn't surprising the covid break triggered some sort of depression/burn out from the music business. He isn't 100% out, he is on a one year hiatus after which he will decide if he leaves for good, or will return I for one support him 100% for putting his mental health ahead of everything else ps. For all my life (65 y old Dutch) I am a Pink Floyd fan. Seen them several times. This is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to an exceptional band.
Notice at 2:15 how Tuomas is mimicking with his head? Telling Emppu to check on Jukka, since Jukka was suffering from chronic insomnia and had massive headaches

Every time I see this video, I miss Marko. 😞 Hopefully he get his emotions stabilized and returns to do what he was born to do. Play and sing from his heart for himself and all of us who love and appreciate his hard work and talent.
Beauty of this os also that drummer had unbelievable pain, cause of insomnia an migren attack. Everybody were worried, and Guitarist was looking "can you did this". And omg how he did. Pain in a face but he gave his everything and more.. Jesus. Fighter. Member's looks to him after a while... And what a show they did. Mr Gilmore said this os the best cover of this song ever. ❤️🫶
It's sad Marco has left Nightwish. Yet as a long time fan. It always amazed me how Nightwish held together and even got better through changes. 3 different singers. 2 different bassist. 2 different drummers. Countless crew changes. Yet Nightwish still is a powerhouse. To think of how many bands that have fallen apart with only one change.

I grew up with Pink Floyd. I love this version. I don't know about you but it hits me because it brings me back to a better time. Marko is such a fabulous singer and will be missed.
Marco can hit you in the feels. try his solo song "Isani anni" . Sung in Finnish. Even before I knew what the song was about , it drew such emotion. The man is simply amazing
YEAH! It's not a cover - it's a tribute to Pink Floyd! Hypnotic, mesmerizing, penetrating.... Magic! Exactly! Even Emppu's tapping feels connected to David Gilmour! Jukka on drums had a migraine and still... this!... I made a life-long Pink Floyd fan into a Nightwish fan too thanks to this track!... Marko is taking a break because he's sick of the crap in the industry, he has not left his friends and family in Nightwish!
I am a life long Rush and Pink Floyd fan. I discovered Nightwish a few months back. They have cracked the top three, as I have found no one else as piercing with music and lyrics. Now I want to see Nightwish do Rush’s Xanadu or maybe Which Hunt.
You are certainly not alone with the emotions you experience with Nightwish. This song is a very emotional song on the face but Marko's vocals are beautiful and passionate. This tribute to Pink Floyd has become my favorite version of High Hopes. Excellent and honest reaction. This keeps me coming back. Kiitos!

Nightwish is magic. Each and every member of the band is a magical entity. We need them together to produce the magic. You my friend feel the music...I do too! Whether it's Floor or Marco or both singing together, along with the music, emotions are felt deep! I believe that is their super power that makes them supremely above the others. The Nightwish Army knows this, feels this and completely supports this....as do I.
Great review. A little tip if I may. Always play Nightwish until the very very end. You missed Marko say thankyou in Finish at the end. There is usually a little something at the very end which rounds off the performance. Floor often says something. I can see you are loving the journey and there is more great stuff to come.
That look as Marco started singing says it all!... I believe the ability to "Hit you in the Feels" comes from witnessing these "Passionate Technicians" at their craft... Or as another great reactor has said... "Nightwish doing Nightwish things!"
Since day one with Nightwish, he has shared his talent selflessly, always checking his ego out the door and supporting the lead vocalist (Tarja, Annette and Floor) while being a witting wing man for Tuomas. His immense abilities are evident immediately whether it is base line driving through his Warwicks or being punched in the face with vocals that are full of feel, emotion and a ton of technical prowess to satisfy even the most demanding vocal geek. He will certainly be sorely missed but he has gained another level of respect from me for being able to face his troubles and conquer them. Farewell for now brother Marko. May you find your Walden soon.
A TRIBUTE, from one awesome Band to another awesome Band 🤗 you see and feel the Anger, in same time the sadness in the faces of Tuomas,Jukka, Marko, and Emppu dont smile. They know, after this show, they fired Tarja.
As I have heard Tarja already had recalled her membership in the band before this concert but for a near future time because she wanted to start a solo career. The remaining band members asked her to leave directly after this concert because they felt that they were no longer able to work together with her. It was only arkward that the band has written an open letter to her in which they officially "fired" her immediately not waiting for the date Tarja named before. This caused a shitstorm to Tuomas because a lot of people believed that he really has fired her. During this concert you can feel the distance between Tarja and the other band members and how hard it must have been for the four men. There is a scene in the beginning of the concert in which Tuomas for a short time was not able to play and hides his head behind his arms. Towards "High Hopes" I believe the men felt every word of the song deep in their hearts and therefore it has become so brilliant.

I don't think that you know how much I appriciate that our heart is open. To be able to recive the magic they bring is a lifeuplifting gift. I know that it has taken a lot for you to keep your heart open. The tragedies life have taken you through. The losses. The shit you have seen during our 6,5 years serving. All that in only 37 years. I'm not your stalker, just an admairer that pay attention to details. You are my absolut favorite reactor. And belive me when I tell you, I'v seen AT LEAST 400 reactors, and thousends of reactions. Yeah man, it´s certainly the passion and amazing vocals backed up by the epic guitar, drums and keys. The whole arrangement makes it emotional. Pink Floyd are one of my all time favourites and to see Nightwish give this song the treatment it deserves makes me so grateful. Nice reaction again..
We are glad to have you with us on the journey, and I haven't given up on Marko yet. If he goes he will be deeply missed, but he has to do what is best for him, we love that crazy guy.
A comforting thought though, is that you have quite a while before you have nothing left to react to. Nightwish has well over 100 songs in their back catalogue, with at least 5 different singers (Tarja, Annette, Floor, Marco, Troy). Yes, Marco will be missed, but he has given us so much already
Great cover. I personally like Pink Floyd's original a little bit more, but still: Nihgtwish did a great job with this song. And Marco's voice... OMG! He will be missed so much. :-(
I highly recommend Nightwish with Tarja Turunen, song called Nemo. That's my all time favourite ever, I just love that song and I'm very big fan of Tarja cause she has an amazing voice💕, other recommendation is Nightwish with Tarja and song called Wish I had an angel, in that song Marco and Tarja have so beautiful duet👍😍👍

After all you apreciated reactions, and after watch "The Greatest Show On Earth" (the end of each show). Surely your question will be "How to recover emotionally after a Nightwish show?" (Julia Nilon words). (The Greatest Show On Earth, Live in Tampere, More than 20 minutes videos, no less, there are shorter versions but without outro. Don't stop to the real real end of the video, and Google about Richard Dawkins work, important to understand the lyrics).
You're feeling some of what they were feeling that night. It was the last concert with Tarja and while she was changing clothes, it was just the guys doing this and the atmosphere was... interesting. You could tell *something* was wrong, but at the same time it didn't even feel like anything was missing with just the guys on the stage. Which I guess says everything there is to say about the situation.
Shhh don't tell pink floyd but I like this version better Emppu with his fretboard gymnastics is just so good to watch & can't Marko just hold space & tell a story?
