2nd Hand Souls band members react to Nightwish's remake of High Hopes By Pink Floyd. Link to our channel: / @2ndhandsoulsmusic Link to our playlists: / @2ndhandsoulsmusic
Y'all quickly becoming one of my favorite reactors. Marco a rabbithole in itself within the NW rabbithole...they called this a tribute rather than a cover...I saw Roger Waters a week ago in concert, I love PF, and this for me is a better version then theirs, which I never thought I would say on any PF cover
@@2ndhandsoulsmusic not a cover ,tribute yes, also not sure if someone recommended this weird version ? cause this was a fan made video not NW official live. all that added stuff takes away from this Live performance.
Marko is a BEAST. Nightwish has been blessed with some God-tier vocalists for sure. I love this version of the song so much, even more than the original too.
Thank you for listening to this, there is an other version on RU-vid without the distracting nature stuff in between and the original speed, feel free to watch that outside of YT😉 If you guys like a small break from Nightwish react to Epica - Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith Paris
I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, and I prefer the Nightwish version, too. Here's another rabbit hole for you to start: Ayreon. This is not a band, but a musical project of Dutch composer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Arjen Lucassen. Ayreon albums all tell a story, and Arjen, who plays guitar, bass and keys, gets top-notch vocalists from all over the world to sing the parts of the different characters in the story. This particular song I'm recommending has 11 singers in it...at least one of whom you are familiar with (can you guess who?): "The Day That the World Breaks Down" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oFuMKdrzPqU.html
Like Zozo D said and I hope you can find the time to react to this TOP LINEUP OF MANY MUSICAL INTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from *AYREON* , a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen (Ahr-Yun) Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. *_”The Day That The World Breaks Down”_* is a song that features all 11 (quite well known) main guest singers (you’ll be surprised) and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards. Btw. This creative original clip is 13 min. long and I think you won’t regret it !! Official (Arjen’s) clip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oFuMKdrzPqU.html
Great reaction from you - it does not matter if people call this a remake or a tribute - Pink Floyd themselves really like this heavier version, and that's the most important thing. Tell us what you would like to hear next: Incredible ballads Sleeping Sun, Tampere 2015 Kiss while your lips are still red, Wembley 2015. Incredible acoustics How is the Heart, Planet Rock Radio 2020 Nemo, Planet Rock Radio 2020 Incredible Celtic vibes Last of the Wild, Wacken 2013 My Walden, Tampere 2015 Incredible composition The Poet and the Pendulum, Wembley 2015 The Greatest Show on Earth, Tampere 2015 Just incredible All the rest of Nightwish songs - it really does not matter
@@2ndhandsoulsmusic yes and no. Especially 'The Poet and the Pendulum' could need some background - but in my opinion - it's only necessary to know that it is a journey through a deep personal depression (Tuomas). And just by listening carefully to the music, how it is composed, use of instruments, and Floor's and Marco's singing styles - you should get the right experience! It's an incredible masterpiece of music, and only Floor are able to do this song justice.. Go for it! Wembley 2015 - The Poet and the Pendulum!
Awesome reaction again folks! It's great watching other people discovering Nightwish and having to crank their jaws off the ground after each song, like we all have over the years!! Keep it up guys 🤟
Pink Floyd was my first concert back in May of 1994 in Columbus, Ohio. It was great seeing the original of this song live. I love this version too! Emppu's lead work here touches my soul. Marko's Warwick bass in this one is an Infinity.
Great reaction as usual. Thanks for sharing your journey. Nightwish has always said this was a tribute song, not a cover. they did not try to match Pink Floyd and instead put their own vibe into it. I also prefer this to the Pink Floyd version. The drummer (Jukka) was actually ill during this concert, suffering from migraines. At one point you can see Emppu jump down off the drum riser. He had gone to check and see if Jukka was OK. BTW, Marko was rocking a Warwick Infiniti at this time. If you are curious, Tuomas always plays Korg keyboards. Keep rocking🤘🤘🤘
I love this Pink Floyd version by Nightwish. They make it their own, so you forget that it's a Pink Floyd tune. Also, this video is even better without the edited flowers, globe and fish in water. This fan based version takes away from being able to view all of the musicians deeply penetrated into performing this piece. Lovely reaction as usual from y'all great folks. As soon as I see you uploaded something I check it out immediately. God bless and thank you..
Good one guys. 🔥🔥🔥 Tarja was backstage changing her outfit during this one. It is also the infamous concert where she was fired from the band. You can see Tuomas motion to Emppu to check on Jukka. Jukka (the drummer) suffers from migraines and insomnia. The reason he had to step aside. This isn't a cover, it's a tribute 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Keep them coming guys
Crissy; your beautiful smile and the shine of your pretty eyes could illuminate even the most remote dark side of the moon🤗. Great genuine reaction and analysis of this excellent tribute to one of the most relevant and prestigious bands of all time. Thank you and best regards from Argentina!🇦🇷🤘😉
This a better version of this video. You get to see the entire performance without the foreign lyrics and planet, fish etc to distract you. I wish you had used this version but it is what it is. Great tribute to Pink Floyd by Nightwish. Thanks for all of the cool Nightwish reactions!!
Another great cover from this show is Phantom of the opera with Marko and the first singer with Nightwish Tarja Turunen, you haven't seen her yet, also Sleeping Sun with her from this same show, is great. As a big PF have to say this is just amazing. Great again guys.
Sorry ya'll found some busted ass russian fan-made video, the actual live version is unobstructed by all those un-related visuals that are cut in. It really insults this performance that the original uploader would throw random scenery and block off the concert. Check out the official live version of this if you wanna see this song in full glory (from End of An Era) :)
This was a wonderful tribute to a great band. I have loved Pink Floyd for ages but Nightwish and Marko nailed this. As always, you guys had a great reaction. Keep the Nightwish coming.
For all my life (66 y old Dutch bloke) I am a fan of Pink Floyd and have see them several times. A song I always loved and is on my all time playlist. Nightwish did not cover this one, this is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to a exceptional band. Nightwish, by the way, I only started following after seeing Floor Jansen participating in Beste Zangers. Nightwish and Floor now belong to my category of exceptional bands/musicians (Queen/Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, Santana, Bob Marley, Frank Zappa, U2, Cranberries, The Cure). And seen them all in my younger years, and many more. And later on got to know Sabaton, Ayreon, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Kamelot, Toehider, Avantasia. All because of me liking Floor and Nightwish.
When you get around to checking out the song: greatest show on earth by Nightwish you have two options The Tampera version has Troy the multi musician the British fellow in the band plays more Irish bagpipes and wind whistle and Tuomas plays timed keyboard with the fireworks pretty cool. But the other version is at Wembley Arena in the U.K. and has Troy playing guitar with an e-bow with such haunting sounds possibly my preferred version. Choice is yours but either way great song. Thank you all God bless.
Time for next step as a Nightwish lover. Check Ayreon, "The day that the world break down". By the way, he is a very good friends with Floor and Nightwish.
Set list to watch and check out. #1 POET AMD PENDULUM live #2 PLANET HELL live. #3 DEAD BOYS POEM live. #4 EVER DREAM live. #5 WISH MASTER live hope that helps
I am enjoying you sharing your reactions. It brings back sweet memories. I am also looking forward to hearing your own music. Take care, lots of love from Scotland
I am a 64 year old Dutch man and a huge PF but also NW fan I have seen PF several times live in the seventies This is a tribute because NW likes PF a lot PF members reacted highly possitive on this version They felt honored. Keep on going with your journey I will follow it Greetings and great comments again
Thank you for another very enjoyable reaction to Nightwish. This is a great Tribute to a great band. Hope you get around to "Shudder Before The Beautiful" Live at Wembley and/or "Weak Fantasy" Live at Tampere.
Hi. Good reaction. End of Era is the DVD of the last concert with Tarja, the first singer (pronounced Tarria), she was fired right after. You can react to the Phantom of the Opera with Tarja and Marco. They are amazing in this video.
Suggestions will come thick and fast for more Nightwish and all the roads that lead from listening to them. Whatever path you take you will not go wrong. Your channel your choices and I'm in for the ride.
Yes, better video out there, so good to watch them play close up, especially Emppu having such a long solo. It is fun to watch the Pink Floyd first, & then Nightwish, & NIGHTWISH owns it now, & love Pink Floyd.
Hey man fav band y'all the coolest thing on you tube and let Chrissy know she's pretty too love your band and this is a good one you rock roll on brother this is a pink Floyd cover
i absolutely love this version of High Hopes, and I saw the original played by Pink Floyd in the Division Bell tour. Unfortunately you chose a link which included a lot of Fan video images which hides some of this excellent performance. There are better links with just the performance, you should take another listen/look using one of these to see all of Emppu's excellent guitar work.
Well done, y'all! Yes we told you to do this and we would never steer you wrong! lol I'm a 63 yo PF fan from back in the day but I prefer this tribute to the original also.
One of the things that make this performance even more powerful to me is the fact that this was the last show with their original singer, Tarja. There was a lot of turmoil within the band at that time, and at the end of that show, Tarja was going to be handed her dismissal letter, a fact that was known by all members of the band (except her). Thus, this particular show has a special vibe. It could have been the final show of Nightwish, the night their High Hopes were dashed.
🇫🇮 👍 This was a very stressful live show for the male members of the band as they were about to let their founding lead vocalist Tarja Turunen know after the show that she was no longer a member. Marco was also quite sick & Tarja's Argentinian husband asked him after the show how Marco managed to pull it off. There's also speculation that the drummer Jukka has a migraine attack during this song as he's holding his head & Tuomas signals Emppu by nodding his head to check out Jukka, which Emppu also did & you can see him jumping down from Jukka's platform after that.
In the making of Endless forms most beautiful, Jukka said he had been suffering from severe insomnia for years, heaven knows how he kept going at his pace! Previously, I'd thought he was keeping a low profile, with his hands on his head, now, I'm not so sure, maybe he was suffering, Tuomas gesturing seems to indicate a problem.
Thanks, greetings fromm Colombia. Please prefer videos from Gabriel's list, this has so many distractions. Great reaction as always, you remember my first time listening Nightwish.
Thx you guys , love that song . How about Weak Fantasy live from Tampere , you’ll see the new drummer, double neck bass, Troy on the Bouzuki and great harmonies!!keep em coming 🤘🏼💥🤘🏼
The original female vocalist of Nightwish, Tarja (TaR-ya, with a rolling r) had a big wardrobe. And after Marko joined Nightwish they often played covers, mostly heavy metal classics, while Tarja was bqckstage changing. Floor had two outfits in Wacken 2013, but not after that as far as I know. Maybe because she had a zipper malfunktion in Wacken. She went backstage, actually twice, to get it fixed, but it still was not perfect but good enough for the rest of the concert. The first time she had to run for the mic for the next song. She was a little late, maybe one second. Right now Floor has two outfits, but only wears one for one concert. The other one is my favorite, I was glad to see her wearing that one in Helsinki and Tampere, April 2022.
This performance was in Helsinki 2005. Considered more of a tribute than a cover, Marko kills it.🤘🤘 Even David Gilmour loved it. Original lead singer ,Tarja Turunen, sang at this show. She was offstage for a wardrobe change for this song. It was also Tarja's last Nightwish show, but she didn't know it. After the concert , the guys gave her the open letter dismissing her from the band. if you want to hear Tarja, stay with this show and try Wishmaster, The Siren, Planet Hell, NEMO, or their cover of Phantom of the Opera.
You want to hear more of Marco’s incredible voice and Nightwish first incredible female singer, Tarja check out Phantom of the Opera their official video. This is a tribute of Pink Floyd’s “High Hope” Marco loves Pink Floyd and suggested they do this tribute when Tarja had a complicated costume change. ”Love Pink Floyd seen them 3 times thru the seventies and eighties. I’m a very old Metal/Rock Head and love both versions of High Hopes but This Nightwish fan of over 20 years always says, “My Favorite Nightwish song is always the last one I’ve listened to!” God Bless Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
yes ,Marko diggin ite .we would say he nailt ite. but diggin is fine for me , now also use it .keep rocking. For me you can play Planet Hell live in Dichkbrand 2022 this past summer festival. was great., greetings Jan greetings from the Netherlands🤘🤘❤️❤️🤘🤘 Thanks fore doing this👍👍
As others have said, more of a Tribute rather than a Cover, as they are all big fans of PF themselves! Enjoying your musical journey of discovery, and you have soooo much music in front of you. I'm a longtime Nightwish fan and appreciate your response to them, but am looking forward to your discoveries of Unleash the Archers, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and the dual guitar assault from Lovebites....cheers for the journey! And oh, btw, I can't tell you how much valuable sleep I have lost throughout my own musical journey of discovery....wouldn't trade it!!🤘
High there 2nd Hand Souls, Pink Floyds', Dave Gilmore liked this one (audio). Extra special emotionally, as Tarja was backstage, not knowing what was to come, her last show, they all look a bit sombre. These guys are absolutely amazing, you were ready to wipe away a tear... Thumbs up, air-guitar. Animal, the bandana man, really hitting it hard, you noticed the circular lighting reference to Pink Floyd :) Yes, a re-make. Тревата беше по эелена >>> The grass was greener, so: Bulgarian.
Thank you. Please do some Solo Stuff of Floor (Amsterdam) between NW-Songs-Reactions. here Marko kills it. Also take a look to Phantom of the opera with Tarja or one version with Floor and Henk Port.
Thank you for great reaction 🥰. Then when you are ready, thre is angrier NW with song Master Passion Greed sung by Marco. It's against Tarja's manager (whose is hers husband now a days) OR about Tarja's husband. It has never been performed live. The song is great. Live it would blow the roofs and sky for sure
Emppu out-Gilmours Gilmour in his part here, and Marco; Marco at his very best. So far above the original in every way (and I'm a Floyd fan of 45 years!). Nice reactions. Even Floyd linked this on their website as a great version.
One suggestion, and something I made mistakes with in the past, is to always allow a Nightwish video play out until the screen goes completely black. Seems always something at the very end that is just a nice add on, whether a Floor sweet thank you or comment, or even a thanks here in Finish by Marco that you missed.
I am thinking for a very theatrical song you should try Devil and the Great Dark Ocean. It is basicaly a story about a mermaid being amorously pursued by the Devil ...
Those subtitles were in cyrillic letters.Used by countries that were under rule of soviet union and now are INDEPENDENT LIKE UKRAINE and Bulgaria and dozen others.
One of my fav trubutes/covers ever. Pink Floyd frontman liked their version too. :) This video is a strange fan made video - there is one of just the performance without the weird visuals lol why fish? lol
Everything is just perfect in this "cover" (they call it tribute to Pink Floyd) Marko is a GREAT singer, you will hear more sided of him (scream, yell, soft warm voice, folky sound..he can do it all), Empu is a hell of a guitar player (still laughing how you reacted on his tastful but not very technical solo in Ghost love score) And the beast of a drummer Yuka (who became ill, years of insomnia and let his best friend and drummer of Winer sun fill in...Kaj, they call him the human metronome) Most people who apreciate Pink Floys have to admit that Nightwish made this song much more dynamic and emotional. The original, Mark, is singing very monotome, Marko took his own feelings on these lyrics and sung it his way)
Thx a lot again… ❤👍🏆 maybe you could do next: Dark Chest of Wonders (concert opener) & Last Ride of the Day (concert last one - both Wacken 2013) - Links you have from commander Gabriel…
For another aspect of Marco's vocals react to "Kiss while your lips are still red" from live at Wembley 2015 concert. Troy plays guitar with ebow as well, as Empuu takes a break on this one it's a superb ballad you just have to listen to. Love your reactions subbed a few weeks ago thanks for your thoughts on all you do too..
Animal you look like a badass biker🏍 and that is not an insult, but a compliment. This is not a cover, but a tribute to PF and imho this is even better than the original🤘💪. Marko killed it with his raspy voice and the 2 guitar solo's from Emmpu were outstanding💥💥💯
Good reaction again and good selection. I also agree you check out Ayreon. Also check out more Nightwish from there resent gig at Hellfest 2022 it's amazing from Mr Lyn Smith
Great reaction, and glad you enjoyed it! Another one you will love is Nightwish - Bless the Child (Wacken 2013) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VTPXvE6o3LY.html
Awsome and loving your channel. Since your going down the rabbit hole on new band suggestions may I add Evergrey to your list. Swedish Metal I think you'll be impressed with.
