I'm a big Nike fan. But the re-sell game is garbage. Taking advantage of people because they like a certain shoe. Then charging them super outrageous prices for them. I never bit that hook.
Realistically when you get to a certain age in life ain’t nobody checking out what shoes you’re wearing. I still like shoes and I like my collection but I will never ever pay above retail for a shoe.
At 26...i was a sneakerhead At 36...i bought sneaks that my kids wanted within reason At 46 in 2024...man f*ck all this sneaker madness! I never understood thst resell sh*t or why Nike didnt correct the market years ago whennthey had the resources to do so? I buy sneakers and clothing I can wear to work and as cheap as possible, and thats with everything head to toe. Speding ridiculous amount of money on things like sneakers will only have you WISHING you had all that money back ib the future...its not worth it in the long run.
WE ARE SO TIRED OF THESE RESELLERS!! They’re the ones who fucked up the market. We don’t wanna pay double or even triple retail price for shoes. That’s madness. These companies need to disable apps letting bots buy a bunch of shoes. And limit everyone to 2 pairs a piece
Until I can buy Jordans, air max, Penny's, etc without having to be there right when they drop and still risk not getting a pair, Nike ain't going nowhere.
Need to drop the retail prices. Clearly their price points are too high. Quality and materials have diminished over time. I remember the $10 increases were for better materials. QC has gone to crap.
I think ppl just following the new wave at at the moment. Soccor dad /running shoes are the new trend. Also, if kicks are widely available. Ppl don't wanna buy em. Real OG sneakers heads are happy to get retai/under retail W's. Real OG's are outnumbered by Hypebeast/resellers/ ppl who just follow trends... Only thing Nike need to do now is make collabs obtainable. And resale is officially dead. Appreciate the content bro.
Nike store I know has been displaying running shoes like Pegs, Infinity RNs and Invincibles instead of sports style, retros, and athleisure. This is a realization of a new trend. Nearby a New Balance store didn't front display the Dad shoes but 1080 running shoes instead. The trend now is running and comfort, with trail running close behind. Adidas is still on the retro Samba spin though, but one day it's going to bite them too.
Nike definitely deserves all of this , tried to control both retail & resell markets and it blew up in their faces. Another reason they didn't foresee was Gen Z & young tik Tok going for a more polish look in outfits and cause they were taking L after L on SNKRS they all moved on and haven't looked back
Its sad because even all the shoes they drop where they try to bank on our nostalgia fail and don't even sell out. It's funny because these past few years have probably been the best era to buy Jordans and Nikes in long long long long time. Man just about everything I've wanted I got on sale this year. It's really crazy how reps have taken off since the pandemic, like I remember a time where if you even brought up the idea of owning fakes you got laughed out the room now nobody cares. Nike's quality control has been so terrible the past couple of years that certain reps have better quality than the real thing and that is a fucking terrible. Nike only has themselves to blame.
I’m a big Nike and Jordan fan, I am glad that Nike stock price is dropping like a mug. I’m glad that reseller is dying slowly and bleeding out. I am glad that the market is tanking, is not that we as a retail consumer is tired of buying sneaker, it’s the greed of Nike keep raising prices on the sneaker smh. Greed is their own downfall. Nike have to come back to reality that this is not 1980 anymore where they afford to lose money on the ban 1s or fine on each NBA games. This is 2024, like it’s more of hype than the love of a game of collecting sneaker now.
I can’t lie I stopped buying sneakers years ago, most of my friends to. Resellers fuked the whole game up. Not to mention seeing sneakers for 20k is just crazy. Plus I’m to old now to buy sneakers that I liked years ago. Easy part is the young kids don’t even care about kicks 💩 is gonna hit hard in a few years.
Managed to get a couple of yeezy 350’s for retail or under and two pairs of HOKAs this year which will set me for a real long while. Im all about comfort and I learned a long time ago i could care less about these over saturated Jordans that hurt my feet. Watching resellers hoard and even buyers just buy em to never wear has always made me laugh.
I only buy nike running/walking shoes for work. I would never buy a sneekers past $200. I'll pay that for some timberlands tho. 1 pair last me two years. Plus some dr scholl's to get some extra from them boots. Ooooooohhhhhh boy No 🧢
like seeing resellers buy up the disability slip on shoes nike made a few years back then charge 3x retail for them made never wanna get hyped for a nike shoe again
Retro 1 was 150 to 180. Other retro from 175 to 200 doubt Nike changing for the consumers and what happen to new innovative sneakers all u get is sneakers from the 90s they could sukk 🍆
honestly, nowadays i just want a decent and comfortable shoe that’ll look good with anything without breaking the bank, and nike is none of those four. i’d rather just buy a pair of vans atwood deluxe or any running shoes that are on sale and call it a day.
What people don’t understand is reps don’t look like they did 20 years ago them mf look better than the retail pair 1:1 when I seen that I knew these sneaker companies were in trouble just by the price being cheaper and they look like they came off the Nike production line IJS
paying more than 200 for a pair of nike/jordans is wack😂 and if u do it, do it because you like and appreciate the materials and history behind the sneaker, not because u gonna impress some people
Nike, in particular resellers, were able to come up and really take advantage during the Covid years but now that we’re back to normal and can spend our money on other, better goods and services now they’re getting that karma for taking advantage of the situation. I would much rather spend my money on experiences. You can take a vacation for the price of some of these shoes
I just go inside my local shoe store always got Jordan’s and everything I want for retail not the sneaker app for resellers legit got to get up u fat lards and go buy em in person and not over a phone lazy smh
Buy $1,000+shoe to WEAR- get clowned for spending that much AND barely wear it lol i rather get a rep that I can beat up and wear everyday. We also live in age where we say we shouldn’t care what others have on there feet and let them wear the sneakers,
Resellers aren’t the problem and have never been. Resellers always existed. The issue is Nike started mass producing their highest selling product at an even higher price point. Nobody is buying them because resellers can’t make money on them. The resellers kept sneakers scarce. Which is what makes them hype. Everyone wants the sold out shoe.
