I agree, it's pretty annoying... but it's because we can actually tell... the dialogue isn't flowing naturally. Bill Burr does the same thing with Conan. They have topics, jokes in line, etc... but they're both so good and professional that they know how to make it seem natural. All that being said... I love Nikki Glaser. She's done very well for herself and she's pretty clever. She has a cliche schtick that can grate on you over time but I feel like she's one of the few comedians that stays true to her craft and actually understands her criticism. There's a difference between hating your criticism and bitching about it (Schumer/Netflix) and embracing your criticism, even honing accordingly... and I think Nikki does it very well. I'm a fan... Last note, Nate Bargatze is the best stand-up comedian alive.

Nikkie Glaser's act is that she can write a bunch of jokes and then go deliver them through an interview throughout the flow of conversation. Punchline after punchline, one flowing to the next. Even when the host asks her questions that aren't what she originally anticipated, she's always able to bring it back into her material and deliver the jokes. Super talented.

That's what all comedians do when sitting down on a talk show. And that's been the case for as long as I can remember, going back to the great Jonathon Winters' umpteen appearances on The Tonight Show. Nikki's great, but what you described is nothing new, and needed no description.

I believe the movement has to do more with how the show business industry blatantly and aggressively promotes female comedians for equality reasons, forcing us to watch average performers at best (e.g. Amy Schumer) whilst others like Nikki are well less known. So, to further clarify, it is about money hatting subpar female comedians to meet equality instead of finding true female talent (because there is) and support it.
