Sexy Nikki O'Daniel was a popular nightclub dancer in Harlem in the 1940's, she danced at the most popular nightclubs and in stage musicals. She also was a popular dancer in the first black soundies (music videos) appearing in close to 20. She's probably best remembered as the original Caldonia, a big hit for Louis Jordan, who he sung the hit song to while Nikki sat on a piano in the popular soundie. R.I.P. Dancing Angel.

Hi, I'm looking for one of my distant cousins by the name of Lulu Ledbetter-Williams. She committed suicide 1928 at the age of 22. She was a member of Show Boat, singer with Ziegfeld, singer at Connie's Inn and other night clubs. I was wondering if you had any advice on how I would be able to locate her in any clips audio or video. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi. I just looked her up and I did find an article on her passing. I will do some extensive research by looking through some of the old black newspapers like New York Amsterdam news, Chicago defender, Pittsburg courier, to see if I find anything else. Do you have any photos on her or any info on her daughter? I’m very interested now. I do research on vintage black performers. Anyway we can keep in touch, in case I find more on her? Thanks

@@MusicandDancing4Ever Hello again, thank you for replying so quickly. I too found that newspaper article on newspapers.com. I've been researching my ancestry for 10 years. During my research I met a woman who's hobby was ancestry and was assisting her friend (my distant cousin). My cousin did not know much about her family and wanted to know more about her aunt Lulu. We do not have any photos and I've been hoping I would a find a video clip or something. Did you want to keep in touch via email?? If so what is your email address?

The pianist has ten fingers . . . on each hand.

This is a reverse-image of the original film. The piano is curved the wrong way. The alto sax man is holding the horn with his hands in the reverse position. The trumpet player is playing with his left hand on a horn which is clearly reversed. *But the girl is just fine.🤩🤩🤩🤩

What we hear is not what we see, we hear a trombone solo instead of trumpet during the first solo, and a bass player…
@leelarson107
@leelarson107 Год назад
But remember that that trumpet is muted. That makes a difference. And sound recordings back then were more primitive than today's equipment.

I always say that when I see old clips I’m intrigued by the past! Especially the 20s

One thing I've noticed----and I watch a lot of these old film clips----is that black girls 'back then' had prettier faces, smoother skin, and nicer legs than their counterparts today. I have no answer for that question.
