Top 20 at least. It's not simply the accomplishments themselves. It's also just his actual skill on the basketball court. Literally the only thing he doesn't do well is rim protection. He can do everything else and does most of those things better than everyone else.
There’s 10 players with MVP, finals MVP, and 3+ rings. He’s on track but not there yet. Bill, Kareem, MJ, Magic, Tim, Kobe, Shaq, LeBron, Steph, and Bird.
He has mastered controlling the game like Jason Kidd 5X better. I gotta admit, I also thought that this series was over after the first 2 games, especially after Gobert was out in Game 2 and Gobert missed the game.
Agree, like i understand the joy u get from a player thats super athletic who just outpaces/out jumps everyone. I mean westbrook is one of my fav players ever. Yes he makes bad decisions at times but his athleticism and hustle is sth else. However, i sure as hell really appreciate players who just know how to play the game even though they dont have the "physical attributes" in the conventional sense. The Joker is easily one of the most entertaining and fun players ever but unfortunately, for so/too many ppl, unless u run/jump higher than everyone and are flashy, then somehow u aint entertaining...
I genuinely don't understand the joy people get from watching explosive athleticism. Maybe there's something wrong with me, fwiw that is probably my best physical attribute
I’m honestly viewing this video as a bit of an experiment. I make my best points working off a script…. but I also sound like an android when reading. Lmao. If people are into this, I’ll occasionally mix in more reactions for big nights like this 👍
Gobert will be, rightfully so, in the hall of fame just for his defense. In game 5 Jokic did everything he wanted, and it was not Gobert's fault, the Serbian is just too good.
Watching this game last night as a wolves believer made me really hate the touch Jokic has around the rim. He’s incredible and it’s so frustrating when you’re on the other side of magic. 40 and 13 with no turnovers is wild. Especially when you’re being defended by the best defence in the league and the DPOY. I want a wolves knicks finals and I know it’s a long shot but man the nuggets are hard to bet against. I got to watch jokic live last season and I recommend if you can to try and see him play live. He’s really that good.
Coming from a heat fan, I can’t but not damn appreciate the absolute greatness im seeing, he reminds me of a prime LeBron or Kobe or Mike… they made the game look easy and effortless, he does it with such an amazing flow it feels so natural you think you can do it too(you can’t, he just makes it seem like it, his flow and effortless dominance feels like he is the greatest right now without question)
For me, jokic should be ATLEAST in the top 11-15 of all time. 3 time MVP, best passing big man of all time, probably top 5 in passing, won a finals MVP and the championship with the team he has been drafted on and STILL is in contention to win back to back finals. Now I don’t know if he’ll win it, but they sure look like they do. He has just been so phenomenal these past few games man and showed why he is such a threat on the offensive side. I know it ain’t over, but after that wolves game, I have no words.
That's what I said about Giannis after winning the 2021 Finals and FMVP because his career and trajectory was just so historic and legendary up to that point. Sad to see his championship chances look smaller since then.
Honestly I think he's better than LeBron, but he won't get the same statistics because his career probably won't be as long He's behind kobe and Mike. I don't know who else you could say was better than. Jokic
@@ianweir3608 jokic and giannis are close to each other, but it looks like jokic surpassed even giannis all-time. He is definitely getting close to that top ten discussion, but he's not quite there yet. Need him to do this for a long time in order to get there, longevity is important, it's still a bit early in his career
Love all your content, Jonny, but it's great to hear you unscripted. I'm sure I'm not alone. Would love to hear more like this (no shade to the scripted stuff - it's all great) And fully agree about Jokic. Dude is special.
I appreciate it! Yeah, if people are into this, I can mix in more reactionary and unscripted stuff. I was just so amazed after the game last night, I just had to talk about it 😂
Good lord that was the most dominant playoff performance from a big that I’ve seen since 03 Duncan (excluding Gianni’s because I don’t consider him a true big). Just doing whatever he wanted with ease.
I'm lucky enough to have lived to see 90s MJ be the gold standard, Shaq damn near break the league, Lebron living up to and surpassing impossible hype, & watch Steph hit consistently hit glitch-in-the-matrix type shots. Watching Jokic gives me those vibes.
Johny I also got the exact same feeling when I watched the highlights of yesterday's game. Some will go down to be classic af. Like Hakeems dream shake on DR
Thanks Jonny! I thought the Nuggets were done too, we shouldn’t underestimate the heart of a championship. Jokic is the real 2020s version of Hakeem Olajuwon, not Joel Embiid.
Jokic is unreal. I wish Tim Duncan, David Robinson, or Hakeem was around to really test how great The Joker really is. Dude was awesome these past 3 games, but Rudy isn't the test those guys would be. Also, Ant needs to watch some MJ or even Kawhi Leonard videos on how they beat double-teams. He can't give up the ball just because two guys are guarding him.
He'll learn to split those double teams as he gets more experience and they practice with him before games. It'll be a bit of time, as everyone has to learn. Too bad for him that it's happening now and not in a game in November.
Ant will probably end up playing more as a pg than a sg. Learning to playmake and learning to pass. That is the evolution of the game and he is too young still to keep improving those aspects
My state does not have an NBA team. I used to be a Spurs fan, but in 2018 I became a Nuggets fan after seeing a Nuggets gane where Jokic made some crazy passes. I had a gut feeling he would be great ine day.
Hey Jonny! The new vid style definitely feels different, it feels more natural. More emotion in your words to get your point across and just share your opinion is great for a type of video like this. Keep up the pro content!💯
I liked this off-the-cuff read. It sounds way more natural, and you sounded like a pro who does this all the time. I've always thought you sounded a little too robotic when you read off a script. I liked this a lot better. Hoping for more "Real Jonny" VO in the future.
My hottest take ever might be that what we're seeing from Jokic right now is the closest we've seen in dominance to an early 90s Jordan's control of the game. I'm not saying they are the same type of player. It's just the way they seem to have figured out the game and get anything and everything they want and doesn't matter what you throw at them.
Tim Duncan, Bird/Magic are great comparisons for this kind of dominance we've seen from Jokic. What Jokic may lack defensively (compared to MJ and Duncan) he more than makes up for with his multiple-threat offensive package.
👍🏼we have the same feelings about this series... I wish 🐜 ANT could take the wolves to the PROMISE LAND but in the end the nuggets are too much of a team... Jokic was on A BEAST MODE!!! Himself alone is too much to handle...💪🏼🏀💪🏼🏀💪🏼🏀excellent content as usual!!!
I miss hanging out with you too man! I think I might come back to streaming in the next couple months, but it will likely be on Kick. I’ll do a goodbye stream to twitch and such, but Kick let’s creators keep more of the revenue, so it just makes sense. I DO plan on coming back to it though 👍
Jokic preform was amazing and wow just wow and his teammates feed off jokers energy that night and jokic proving why his the alpha in this era of the nba
This squad is really tight. AG's glowing praise of Jokic's selflessness and how they all jumped him excitedly when he held the 3rd MVP trophy. They all highly love and respect Jokic!
*_instead of RECOGNIZING Jokic,_* the media and some new media trashed on Rudy' like it was his fault that Jokic is so good. as if AD, Bam, and Draymond, who are not European players, can do much better.
@@abidurrahmannajib4092 yeah. The only time Dray made Jokic struggle "a LITTLE" was in 2022 which is 2-yrs weaker version compare to now, plus having only Aaron Gordon as his best team mate. The rest were 2nd year MPJ, Barton, and Austin Rivers.
It made no sense to me. I watched how Rudy defended Jokic and the defense was great, really great. The footwork was great, hands up, up close, recovery was quick, there even was an 80s style handchecking where Rudy was using his forearm to bar and forcefully push Jokic away from the rim when he was driving. Never once I saw Rudy lost Jokic even until contesting his shots. Jokic just fought through him head-on and kept hitting difficult shots. And somehow these sports media "analysts" tries to spin it as Rudy's fault and not because Jokic was simply playing great.
watched the game yesterday and wow, i have never seen anything like it. Jokic was dominating Rudy like he wasnt even there and getting his team involved. It was a masterpiece
9 years in and he still hasn’t played with a single all star teammate. None of the other all time greats can say that. If he wins a 2nd those 2 rings are worth as much as 3 or 4 of shaq’s rings to me
👏 As always, excellent content Jonny. I agree with you that Anthony Edward’s needs to learn how to split defenses. I think with the way that team is currently configured he would benefit greatly from implementation of the Triangle offense. Would love to hear your thoughts on that.
I love your off the cuff abilities just as much as the scripted videos!! If you did a podcast I’d listen to it, quite happily. You remind me a bit of History That Doesn’t Suck, actually!
Hey, Jonny! Unfortunately, I missed yesterday's game to busyness. I read about it though and wish I saw it. Nonetheless, Jokic amazes me. I like how he is able to use both his size and finesse (and great shooting skills, including from long range) to dominate. He is incredible and I like your comparison to Hakeem (and the Rudy Tomjanovich quote you shared). I also think it's cool how you spoke without a script for this video. Your scripted videos are great, but this one is awesome too. Hope you're doing well. Take care.
I think he mentally broke the wolves in that 3rd quarter by recording 16pts and 4 assits + 3passes that led to free throws. The wolves had 3 7ft Centers on the floor AT THE SAME TIME because of the Joker in the 4th.
After game 2 I saw people acting like Jokic was being all-time exposed for not being able to score against 3 7fters 😆 No excusing Jokic in game 2 but he and Mike Malone made the adjustments since then to counter the 7fters and make them look pitiful
Jokic made it personal for Gobert last night. Ive never seen another big man go another big man like that since Hakeem did David Robinson dirtym I've said that the last 2 games, Jamal Crawford said the same thing last night and now Jonny is saying it.
As a Jokic fan(from Serbia), if he wins another ring and fmvp, he is for me top 15,ahead of guys like d wade and durant. He would have accolades for top 10,but he needs like another 5+ good years to grab stats from other all time greats. Also as a mid defender it's really tough to put him in the conversation with hakeem or shaq.
Jokic is a breath of fresh air. He's obviously an extremely talented AND skilled player contrary to some so-called experts in media. What I love about him is that he's extremely driven and hardworking and a master of his craft. This is opposite of the players today with all their bravado, chest-puffing, and over-inflated egos. He puts his dedication to his craft and work first and doesn't let the marketing crap get in the way.
I feel ashamed honestly. Especially after everything Shaquille O'Neal said. But I'm glad the joker is making him eat those words. In fact, I almost wonder if he's pulling a Michael Jordan here.. using what Shaq said as fuel to get that extra push. Michael Jordan even admitted that he would make stories up just to feed himself the resolve he needed to push through games. And that mentality and that mindset is what makes the greatest separated from the.
@@andybrummel5555 That was Shaq, Shaq was the one inventing stories like how DRob ignored him. Jordan didn't invent stories, he just grabbed any kind of animosity against him and used that top fuel him.
Its even more impressive that he won it without another all star caliber teammate playing significant minutes (ok Murray is but he doesnt have that accolade yet) The 94 Rockets are probably the only other team which is anywhere near them in this aspect
@@jonathand.t.5051 Did you see Gordon’s last game ?! He Red around that Rim he’s too sturdy and you can’t stop him. He’s Unflinchable if that’s a word lol
Hello Jonny, as a french and a long time fan of Rudy, what Jokic did in that game, and especially in the third quarter, was a masterpiece. Because Rudy did an awesome job in defense, but Jokic seemed to be able to make every shot.
No way Jokic isn’t in the top 15 at this point. Should be 4x MVP now. He is definitely knocking on the door for top 10. He may not be the goat but I am taking him as my first pick for an all time team. I have very thankfully seen him in person and He is the only player in history who has a part of almost every legend’s game.
Yeah Jonny, you got damn right he is. I understand that 2 titles are maybe little to put some player in top 10. But considering the fact that Steph Curry won 4 of them and two of them were with Kevin Durant and Steph wasn't even the best player when he won those titles, when you look at the fact that Larry Bird won 3 titles and he is top 10 undeniable, when you look at the fact that Lebron won 4 titles and he won his first 2 after leaving Cleavlend and playing with Wade and Bosh and he is 2nd all time... Jokic with his first 2 titles maybe doesn't have better career than Lebron, but for me he definitely has better legacy than him because he won them without a single all star player and he won them without changing his team and he also has better legacy that Steph who only won 1 Finals MVP and 2 MVPs while Jokic would have 2 Finals MVPs and 3 MVPs if he wins a championship. And his overall numbers in both regular season and play offs are way better than Bird's dedpite the fact that Bird is legend so yeah... With one more title and Finals MVP, Jokic has some arguments for being top 10 player ever.
This dude still has not played with a single all star by the way. If he wins back to back he IS in top 10 for me. He already has some of the best stats in the regular season, but his stats for the playoffs are something else. He is averaging 28pts 12rbd and 8ast per game for his career on the playoffs.
Great video. Ant, never got the double team like he has been getting. Kobe and Michael never got that double all the time and as early as Ant is getting it. The internet and the narrative of Ant being the next Mike is making the nuggets double him lol
Hakeem is my number 2 all time and I also felt the same way when I was watching these games. And he is number 2 with just 2 championships under his belt simply because of how dominant he was in that time on both ends of the court. I was late to the party since I stopped watching NBA and only started back last year and I was saying Joker is the best player right now and he proved me tight when he lost the mvp vote and went on to win the chip and FMVP. I said from back then I want him do a back to back at minimum but now I want the 3 peat He is that good a player and it's that he also elevates the play of those around him since he gives them great opportunities to score. His defense is underrated because he isn't a pure shot blocker he would more likely strip you of the ball when you are about to jump and he positions himself for the rebounds. Dude is simply amazing and it's unfortunate he has to win titles just to make the media look foolish
The nuggets are the chiefs of the nba. No matter how dead they look, you don't doubt them. Because they will prove you wrong. Both teams' best players feel inevitable.
Dear Jonny Arnett, You’ll probably never see this comment and I know this isn’t the correct video to ask this, but I think these would be good questions for your Q & A video since they’re a bit on controversial side: 1) Do you think the reason Catlin Clark is getting some disrespect from some WNBA media folks and former WNBA players is because they don’t want the WNBA to become popular because of someone who’s a white heterosexual? Do you think things would be different if she was Black &/or non heterosexual? 2) How did you feel about Mahmoud Abdul Rauof situation when you first learned about it and has your attitudes changed over time? 3) What do you think about the fact that all the best NBA players are now foreigners? Should the NBA restore the balance btw American & foreign NBA superstars? If so, what would you do I hate doing this, but I’m gonna have to ask for likes so that Arnett sees this. I’d love for him to respond to this in his 200 Questions video as it’d spice it up. Call me Isiah Thomas cause I'm stoking controversy.
@@jonnyarnettPersonally, you can skip the Rauf question since it happened so long ago. However, I think you should cover the Clark question and foreign player questions since they’re hot topics right now. I’m sure someone has already asked questions about Clark & Foreign NBA players, so if you want to be creative you could try and lump my question in with another viewer so that you can cover more ground
Ngl my mind was absolutely blown when the talking heads started spelling doom for the defending champs with the reigning MVP/Best player... and I say this as a LBJ fan/KD Stan. 2-0 lead is regarded as the most dangerous lead in hockey for a reason. It's almost like the NBA is some sort of WWE enterprise where storylines are more important than the competition. Is this a premade storyline being put into action? Push the new greatest in the league while giving attention/respect to the one most likely to compete/succeed them in the future? Makes perfect sense as LBJ gets ready to leave the league. What doesn't make sense was the reaction to the first 2 games.
For sure. If MJ at 22 can lose to Bird and his better Celtics team, and MJ doesn’t have his legacy ruined because of it, then I don’t see why Ant can’t.
if the IBM Award came back and was reworked into a more balanced Offensive Player Of The Year award, Jokic would be winning it every year. this dude is a monster. and i love how he treats basketball as a hobby and not his life. he’s just that good.
Game (episode) 1: Phantom menace Game (episode) 2: Attack of The Clones (Ant-man=MJ) Game (episode) 3: Revenge of the 🃏 Game (episode) 4: A New Hope Game (episode) 5: The Empire Strikes Back
I like off script Jonny arnett also I feel like jokic is the curry of big men where yes his defense is not good but his offense is so valuable that you can overlook his bad defense
I mean, i think this guy is not only challenging those on the top 10. Let's talk about shaq's undisputed first spot as the most dominant player ever; is he also coming for that one? He's cooking the hell outta every elite defensive player of his era.
