Keyshawn is racist he is hoping that Murray can be FMVP hes crying on the inside😢😢🤣🤣 poor Keyshawn will drown himself in his tears when Nuggets repeat and whenJokic grabs his 2nd Finals MVP next season😂😂 Nuggets are the new dynasty they are like 2014 spurs and 2015 warriors mixed
I dont get how people can say watching jokic is boring. There is absolutely no way to get a boring 30/20/10 game. To me its exciting to watch someone kill his opponents with skill, fundamentals, cleverness, soft touch, utilizing angles to make up for not being very athletic. There is no way you can be a bball fan and think he is boring to watch.
These are some of the same people who say NBA players are so much "bigger, faster, stronger" than guys of the 90's and somehow think that translates to them being better at basketball. Jokic plays like an old skool superstar big, and Butler plays like an old skool guard. All the new skool stars are at home watching those two play for the title.
There is obviously hate towards Jokic from mostly the black analysts, I'm black and i can see it 😂 but i respect Jokic for not letting all of the criticisms get to his head, he doesn't care as long as his team is winning he didn't cry or complain about not getting his 3rd MVP when its arguably that he shouldve won he just kept playing ball and is on his way to potentially getting his first ring and Denvers first championship, bro is definitely a different breed among alot of todays players.
What are you talking about? There is universal hate towards Jokic. Kellerman, Skip, Bucher, Bontemps, Windhorst, Cowherd, Patrick, Eisen, and many others who are white have all been a part of trashing Jokic. Too many people have empowered Perkins. The guy is a moron. Stop putting someone braindead on a pedestal. The entire mainstream media has gone after Jokic.
Why do you think that is? Because I'm white and I feel like the reverse racism when it comes to jokic is so obvious and frustrating but yet it's almost never talked about.
@@Rams8148 the way I see it basketball and the NBA has been a black mans game and league for decades now and even though there have been successful white ball players like Bird, Nowitzki and Nash no white player since them has had a big impact on the game so maybe the black analysts/former players feel the white Serb is getting too much spotlight, at the end of the day its petty hate and some jealously
Here's my thoughts on Embiid vs Jokic: Today's NBA regular season is played at like 80% effort. Dame has talked about this. Wade has talked about this. I think PG has talked about this. Their primary focus is getting their numbers and staying healthy. So then you get a guy like Embiid and he's able to score 30-40 a night because he's largely able to get to his spot, catch the ball, and as soon as he puts it on the floor and starts to turn the corner, people give him token defense. You might get a Gobert or someone trying to be a rim protector, but for the most part, it's a lot of just riding his hip, getting a hand up, and letting him get the shot off and hoping you can be enough of a distraction that he misses. When he catches on the perimeter, you might get someone jogging toward him or making a half-jump with a hand up, but rarely is it a full-effort close-out. But then the playoffs happen. Suddenly, players are downright FIGHTING to keep him from his spot, they're sometimes battling to keep him from even catching, he goes to drive and he's getting bodied, he's getting met with a hard help-side double team, EVERY drive is contested HARD. When he catches on the perimeter, he's getting AGGRESSIVE close-outs and high-effort hands in his face and his outside shooting is cut in half. And he goes from getting 40 a night to suddenly struggling to make half that. He isn't allowed to just dominate and so he has to kick it out and rely on the rest of his team - and that's why he whined after being eliminated "Me and James can't win alone". He also doesn't really make the rest of his team better. When he is struggling, he kicks the ball out to someone, then just kind of stands or maybe makes a screen. He's not moving all over the place trying to get open, trying to hit someone cutting, or otherwise. While Embiid is a good regular season player, the tough, hard-nose defense during the playoffs massively impacts Embiid's game compared to Jokic. So when Key says he'd take Embiid over Jokic, the follow up question should be "Do you mean against regular season defense or playoff defense?"
Id also say if each center only takes 8 shots all game who can still dominate the game offensively. jokic can score 10 points all game and transition his game to get 15+ assists and still keep his team offense at a high level. i cant say the same for embiid. Denver can score 115+ with Jokic not scoring over 10 pts and still consistently win. Philly cant say that.
i think the point he was making was that in the bubble Murray took his game to another level or maybe even two. Jokic had a very good post season that year but in the playoffs hed didnt elevate his game as drastically as Murray did.
@@patrick553 Nash was far more agile. Jokic can't jump over a quarter. There's a reason he was almost picked last for the all-star game. But yet, he will dominate for years to come.
Keyshawn Johnson, at the 3:26 mark, implies the only reason Jokic is really good is that he is tall and that's why he is dominating. What a crock. There have been many tall players but none as good as the Jokic. Admit it, he is the best current player there is.
@@0007tadhe didn't say it like that he was talking about passing the ball. I don't think people care about his race usually centers aren't looked at as the best. They don't say wilt was the greatest and look at the stats he had. It's just people like guards and forwards as the best for some reason
The best current player and player possibly the GOAT it’s between Giannis and Jokic now, Jordan and Lebron have now been overshadowed by the real 2 best players ever.
And it’s not remotely close. Just because Embiid makes one or two splash plays a game defensively people blow it out of proportion when comparing the two.
@@1253ge the only real thing Embiid is better at is blocking and we're not even talking about Olajuwan or Mutombo level blocking here he averaged less than 2 blocks a game.
That’s the best description of his game I’ve heard. It’s like a grown man playing with kids. He’s slow and looks like he’s not trying. But he can’t be stopped
Max is really misremembering what happened in the bubble. Murray was incredible but Jokic still averaged 24-10-6 on 51% shooting and was a complete mismatch for the Clippers and Jazz. Jokic only struggled against the Lakers. (Edit Jokic’s struggles were primarily from a rebounding perspective averages of 22-7-5 on 53% from aren’t terrible if you’re position isn’t a center.)
And I would still consider him a playoff riser or at least staying at his level back then because at that time he was only averaging 20-10-7 on 53% shooting in the regular season
Key can't even give Jokic a full compliment when he's complimenting him lol. He's gotta sprinkle in a criticism in every rare compliment he gives Jokic.
He can do everything and just takes the best option. If he's open, shoot it, if not pass it, if neither, just make the hard shot. Its a simple principle but extremely difficult to do consistently. All that and monster rebounds. It's pretty crazy. I love watching it.
It feels like he's doing even more than that, though. There's a book about Bill Bradley in his Princeton years called, "A Sense of Where You Are", and he was described as always looking for the player with the better theoretical shot. The problem with this was that he played at Princeton University, and a bad shot from him was often better than a good shot from everyone else. Coaches would get on his case to just shoot the ball more, and when they were losing late, he would. The one time he let loose was in his last game of his collegiate career in the Final Four against Wichita State in the 3rd-place game (because they had those back then), and he scored 58 points on 29 shots, a Final Four record. Jokic is also looking for the player with the best shot. The difference is that he knows the percentages, and his teammates can hit the shots. He's not gonna take the 70% shot when he could dump it off to a cutting Aaron Gordon for the 90% shot. If he has a 50% shot and he sees a player in the corner with a 40% 3-point attempt, he'll pass it. We get on Ben Simmons' case as well as some other guys for making silly assists that don't mean anything or just making a pass because they're "supposed to" when they should really just take it themselves... but Jokic doesn't do that, at least from what I've seen. As Coach Malone has said many times, he takes what the game gives him. He's not concerned with what you think the best play is, or if he's close to getting a triple-double. He's just concerned with piling on point after point and rebound after rebound and assist after assist and win after win.
Max Kellerman obviously didn't watch the games in the bubble where Jokic was the key player with his assists, especially against the Clippers, not to mention clutch shots.
I think it is unfair towards AG to still call MPJ 3rd best player on Nuggets. Gordon has been 2nd best player for Nuggets and basicly the only somewhat star help Jokić had for previous 2 seasons(while MPJ and Jamal were injured) amd this season dude has been really decent offensivley and is by far the best player defensivley in the entire squad.... AG deserves some rsspect, he is not a super star player, but he is deffinitly star player, great defender, great dunker, solid rebounder... He'll get you 7,8 to 15, 16 points a game, alongside 6,7 to 10 rebounds and some great defense.. And that is extreme impact in my oppinion ...
AG is not the 2nd best player, that's Murray and you have recency bias like a little kid. AG is up and down inconsistent worse than MPJ if not the same.
@@patrick553 Can u read bro ? I said 3rd best, not 2nd ? He was 2nd best player during past 2 years, while Jamal and MPJ were injured. But it is undennyable that AG has more impact than MPJ on both ends of the flor ...
@@patrick553 Very false, AG was better during entire play offs and an entire season. Check numbers if you don't belive me, and don't forget about defense , AG has been the best deffender for our team in a long time. Plus the space he makes around the rim for Jokić is insane. He also has impact that is not shown in numbers. AG > MPJ currentley. Potential wise, MPJ might be better and he might be overall the player that scores 25 a night in a year or two, but currently AG is our 3rd best player and it is not particularly close
Folks don't realize this but this is exactly how Wilt played. We call him the most dominant ever and picture him dunking on everyone like Shaq. Back in those days, any kind of contact created by the offensive player was called an offensive foul. Most of Wilts points were fadeaway jumpers. He had several seasons averaging 20+, 20+, and 8
Wilt wasn't near the shooter of jokic though. He shot like 48 percent from the foul line and never shot anything outside of like 10 feet. He did have a nice post fade though
Also add in 8 blocks a game a stat that wasn’t officially tracked back than because there was no 3 second rule or goaltending they made rules because of what he was doing
Key over here talking “both ends of the floor” like Embiid didn’t just get bounced in the conference semis cause he got cooked repeatedly in Pick & Roll by the Jays and Derrick White.
True. Embiid is a great rim protector, but makes so many bad decisions on defense and if he’s brought out of the paint, he becomes virtually neutralized. I think he’s a better overall defender than Jokic but it’s not by much. And Jokic is a far better orchestrator of the offense.
If Jokic plays the whole 4th, takes a few more shots, and gets some free throws he scores 40 last night. The dude is a walking 40-point triple double.. efficiently. In the playoffs/ finals/ any game you want.
Thats the thing though, thats not his game or his career. (Im trying to find a way to word this withough saying "i know more and my opinion therefore is better than yours." Im saying, being a nuggets fan and living in Denver, I probably watch more purely Nuggets content than most.) Again not trying to invalidate anyone's opinion or comments. But Jokic is all efficiency. It's not just his high FG/3PT/FT percentages or his TO:Assist ratio. He is deliberate in not needlessly overexerting himself so he can play 90+ games a seaon and not wear down or fade off. he wants to be able to have games where he can rest for part or all of the fourth quarter because in the long run that means he is available and ready for the post season.
@@itzjakedawgttvyt3749 It it! But it is also something he works on every game. After every game Jokic does intense work outs. He has made huge changes in his diet and vices. He has taken advantage of the tools at his disposal to get better.
Max, stop with this nonsense argument that you needed to see something from Jokic. He's been showing it for years in the playoffs, you all just never watched.
Hakeem the Dream was very talented on the offensive side, I still haven't seen a big man with foot work like he had. Not to mention his defense was insane
Not even a Nugget fan and I am one of the people who didn’t want him to threePeat but I was soo wrong. I believe Jokic is the best Centre ever (statistically)
It gave him more motivation to not get the MVP with a Triple Double average and the 1 seed. It was racism but it gave him more motivation to "toy" this NBA group today.
Max always be saying that Jokic didn’t elevate his game in the bubble and the playoffs. He averaged like 25 in the bubble and averages like 25 in his postseason career
His career playoff average is 27.5 points 12 rebounds and 7.4 assists on 52.7/41.2/82.7 splits. He has the 2nd highest increase in NBA history from regular season points per game to playoff points per game with a 7.3 increase. Jamal Murray is #1 in NBA history with 8.5 increase. #3 is Dirk with a 4.2 points increase. These guys are the best statistical playoff duo in NBA history and it is not close at all.
Joker proving to everyone that you dont have to dunk to be good at basketball. And they cant stand it! I love it! Dude is amazing to watch especially his passing!
I say Jokic is really fun to watch because he makes it all look so easy and fluid for him. Jamal is really fun to watch because of how intense and explosive he can be even from range he really looks like he gives everything
Max may have been kicked out from First Take and I hated Jay Williams on ESPN, but the KJM section of ESPN is now the most entertaining and wholesome NBA show on ESPN. Apart from TIimLegler analysis probably - that dude is really professional
That is the Racism that Caucasians have to put up with everyday now days in all areas of life. We just have to put up with it all day everyday since obama "changed" the USA.
Statistically the best player EVER. I'm not saying better than LBJ or MJ this isn't a GOAT debate this is literally being the most EFFICIENT player ever.
Jokic story is still being written. Peak Jokic (meaning starting right now) has been better than both of them for the reason you stated and his defense around the rim has been great.
If you're still picking embiid over jokic I respect you for sticking to your guns but also like to point out the fact that your guns have been wrong this entire time and they will continue to be jokic isn't on embiids level he's on Shaq level the gap between embidd and jokic is noticeable we are talking about the #1 best player in the world vs embiid who is at best 4th he's no antekukpo and he's not doncic I'd argue he's not as good as curry. Jokic isn't as good of a scorer but because he's smarter about who he goes against he has the ability to score more points on a higher efficiency just bc embiid can score better then jokic doesn't mean he does it embiid settles for much more shots off dribble then jokic he shoots mor3 deep midrangenshots he shoots more 3s so even in scoring the one area embidd may be better jokic still does they more efficiently and has averaged more points this post season as well
If Jokic can continue to play out his prime, I think we may see him go down as one of the greatest of all time. He certainly has a road ahead, but he could be the next Tim Duncan, a living legend.
No one in the entire NBA can guard Jokic right now. There might be times where you can slow him down, but he is so crafty and smart that he is able to impact the game in many different ways. Also Jamal Murray, when he gets hot, is almost unguardable as well.
Love JWill but his take on Miami role players not getting it done was garbage... The role players have been CARRYING Butler and Bam and are the best role players in the league with Spo's leadership IMO. Those two might be the 2 best players on that team, but the gap isn't as crazy as people make it out to be. They played as a great team with lots of help and support for each other, that's why they won. You need to hold the stars accountable. Jokic and Murray scored 66 points on 43 shot attempts, Butler and Bam combined for 50 points on 45 attempts. That right there could've won you the game. The teams focused on shutting down the role players and played tough defense, they didn't double the stars and bet on which team's stars are better. The stars battled it out and it wasn't close. Murray and Jokic out played Jimmy and Bam.
If Miami shoot over 40% on threes they win, if they shoot below, they lose. They can't stop Joker and Murray, they depend on their role players to shoot the 3 and defend.
This time the Nuggets defended the 3 point shot well, it is not just Miami not shooting great in game 3 it is more that Denver played good defense and Miami didn't have good 3 point looks.
Man is not forcefully dunking over players like shaq, have an signature unstoppable go to move like kareem sky hook or even the best footwork like hakeem But to drop 30/20/10 in the finals is literally dominating
Center yes because Hakeem didn’t really shoot the 3 but arguably could have, big not really sure I mean KG was supremely skilled and so was Tim Duncan for example. I’m the biggest nuggets fan so I’ll say top three for now, but he’s basically just getting started and could get there still.
Jokic is taking advantage of a time in basketball where big BIGs have been phased out. he might have had a tougher time with some of the older guys like Ben Wallace or Shaq or Ewing. His outside shot would have to carry him vs those guys, but Bam or AD aint going to stop him.
All those guys. You. Mentioned Would make jokic play physical basketball he wont. Always be able to shoot. Jokic. Plays. Well in. The old style. 70s, 80s. 90s. It was more about. Skill. Then athleticism. Skill. Is something jokic has. Easily
He played well against Rudy Gobert, Jusuf Nurkić, Anthony Davis, Kevin Love etc. When you put a strong big man on Jokić he still plays well. I am glad that he plays in this era because had he lived in the previous eras people would be saying that he wouldn't survive in today's NBA because he's too slow. Even though there are people like you who make the opposite claim I think there are a lot less people like you now than there would have been people claiming that Jokić wouldn't be a star in today's NBA had he played in the 1960s or 1990s.
best big ever is an stretch but he making an solid case to be refered as the most dominant big man since shaq, once he wins an championship or 2 and him getting another mvp yeah he's the best big ever
"Why was there a lack of effort" is a completely valid question. Its the nba finals theres no excuse for that, just like there was no excuse for denver game 2
I wish keyshawn, perkins, joy and skip had a show filmed from the next falcon shuttle. With that falcon shuttle charting acourse directly into the sun because i wouldn't wish their takes on any other life forms.
And now you guys feel surprised by the Nuggets performance? If the Heat won their next game by 1 point you'd say Denver was done. You guys really are clowns 🤡🤡🤡
Same numbnuts who said "Just make Jokic score hurrdurr!" How you do that? And how you lock up the other four? Those guys are huge and Murray's a legit star. No team has the roster to lock them up one on one and no one's making Jokic do anything he doesn't want to. Their losses Jokic scored so much organically trying to will his team back into a game where ANT and Book were having historic games. "Hurrdurr! Nuggets can't win on the road!" Are you kidding me? Nuggets are the picture of consistency and have played great every single game. Their losses came from stars shooting the lights out not because they sucked away. In fact I'd argue their two weakest games this post season came the first two games of the finals and Heat was only able to capitalize on one by 3 points.
Jokic was literally the best Playoff performer in the first 2 rounds OF HIS FIRST PLAYOFF RUN. But it's okay, lately everything about these people and how much they really watch basketball, is revealed.
MVP is not best player for the playoffs. Its just a regular season award. Embiid had a better season offensively and definitely defensively IN THE REGULAR SEASON.
@@johndarius18 and Jokic had an overall better season, let's be real the only reason Embid won MVP is because Kendrick Perkins went on that rant claiming Jokic was only receiving mvp votes because he's white mind you up until he said that Jokic was the leader in mvp votes and afterwards he started falling down some people have admitted they purposely left Jokic off of their ballots.
