Is the self cleaning function as good as a professional cleaning? My D7100 is 4 years old (or more) and it's never been professionally cleaned. Also, is there a way to find out how many photos you've taken with the D7100?
Hello, John Black. The self cleaning function can remove dust from the sensor it doesn't remove it completely from the camera and it won't remove any type of smudge or stubborn particles that might not fall off from the vibration of the mechanism. If you haven't had the sensor cleaned in 4 years it may be worth doing so. In regards to your second question, there are sites that allow you to upload an image to and it will pull out the shutter count from the embedded metadata. That's if Nikon embeds that info within the file. Do a google search for "check shutter count online." Thanks for watching! Take care.
On my D7200 I keep trying to change the option to clean at shutdown but it won't change. It seems to default to on startup. I also do not see the OK display as you show. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I inserted a fully charged battery. I don't have an ac adapter.Thanks.
Hello, Deb Thacker. That's strange. Are you pressing the ok button to make the selection and have you tried setting it to clean at startup and shutdown? Also, is your mode dial set to a user profile?
Thank you for this video. My setup menu says "this option is not available at current settings or in the camera's current state." Do you have any suggestions, pretty please? There's a black spot appearing in all my movies and it's driving me crazy. Thank you so much.
Hi everyone When I use the sensor cleaner on my nikon d7100 I don't hear any noise coming from camera to indicate the process is taking place. Is this normal?? thanks for your help?
hi i can't click 'clean now' on my d7200 camera why it says ' This option is not available at current settings or in the camera's current state. Please help. Thank You.
Hi there! This is done as a part of the camera boot up and shutdown process. You will notice that it takes a couple extra seconds to start up your camera when you have this option on.
