Hi Ken, thanks a lot! Back in the 1970s and 1980s you were a Minolta guy, weren‘t you? So was I from 1983 on. As a Christmas gift from my parents I got a Minolta XG-M with the Minolta MD 2/50mm. Unboxing under the Christmas tree was likewise the unboxing you did in the video except the box was white with the blue Minolta logo ;) I‘m still using some ancient Minolta lenses on my Canon RP and Nikon Z6. Hi Ken what portrait and things picture controls settings do you personally use? Sharpness contrast saturation etc?

I personally use Adorama as I have contact who gives me a nice discount which always feels like a good deal and will hold things with, at most, a small payment towards the order. And everything I buy is always in better condition than I'd expect based on their ratings - the few times I've gotten the ’good' quality it's been more than acceptable and the 'very good' typically looks almost like new, with something small I'd never complain about being wrong. Anyways I just wanted to ask for your recommendation on older full frame camera's and figured with one of the cameras I'm looking at being the D700, and this being the D780 - why not? It doesn't look like you've released any videos on any of the ones I'm looking at like the Nikon D800, D600, D3/D3S or Canon 5D or 5D MkII and most of these haven't had updates on your website since 2012.

View finder cover is important while doing timelapse. Timelapse can get ruined if light changes and view finder is not covered.

I really missed the golden boxes even for my Z6...

mine didn't have the bubble wrap only the white covering. is that bad?

Would you recommend a D850 or a D780, as of current they are relatively similar in price if you buy a used d850.

Where is the SN in the body ? They also remove the label in the bottom of the Camara...

Hey Ken. Wanted to report that I received by D780 today from BH and the box the camera was in was sealed.

Shoot video on this using AF-D glass

Always like reading your posts on your website and now watching these videos. Usually very informative and valuable information. However I have to disagree with your opinion on the connector for the charger. While I understand that people in the US might prefer the foldable connector, it is a safety problem here in EU. A small yet insulated IEC-C8 connector is a great compromise for anyone outside of the US, because any 110-240V plug can be safely adapted in either solid or cable form. Of course it might be better if each region in the world that uses it's own wall plug, could get it's own charger, It's understandable that Nikon would want to optimize and at the same time adhere to the standards worldwide.

Battery life of this is about 2260 shots per charge Vs about 650 shots for the Sony a7iii.

Our Nikon products are sealed by Nikon 🇿🇦 South Africa. Outlets here don’t sell unsealed units..

i am surprised that this camera is made in Thailand and not in Japan. Most Japanese companies still reserve production of their higher end products in Japan, and leave the manufacturing of the lower end to overseas countries where labour is much cheaper.

Nikon USA is to be blamed for not sealing the camera boxes. It's not the norm in other countries.

Really, Ken , this is the best you can do? I normally enjoy Ken's thorough reviews even if i don't always agree with his opinions. But this video has no reason to exist, at all. I mean we get about 10 minutes of useless babble about how hard it is to open the box, unwrap the battery, look inside the camera card slot, wowie! Ken should have used the time to actually discuss the camera's many features and important specs. Instead, we get 10:48 of irrelevance. Go to his website for a better look at this great camera.

dslr is already history ... don't believe me ask Kodak … it will worth next to nothing when you decide to sell it … why cause by then nobody wants a dslr

Over $2000 for a camera that is kinda... weak. I don’t know... and no battery grip?! That’s kinda “consumer” if you ask me. I am looking at getting a 2nd Fuji body for the mirrorless side of my gear and I can get a X-H1 that I think is a superior camera for $1200 and it comes with a battery/booster grip. Why is Nikon jacking the prices up on “dated” DSLR cameras? They’re in trouble when they’re putting “new” cameras like this out and charging TWICE as much for it than better cameras out there... I’m worried for Nikon, it’s not looking good. Nikon, don’t die!!!
