I have had my P950 for a few years and it is my go to camera for most everything I don’t do people but, birding, landscape and moon and lately sun shots with a solar lense filter

Great shots. I struggle with birds in flight too. The birds are too quick for me!

Beautiful shots of beautiful birds. I find that Nikon p950 is not made for photography birds in flight. Video them in flight is better once you focus locked. Enjoy a lot your videos and your insights. Thank you and keep the good work. Happy new year

I have nikon P1000, and i am just fan of the camera, P950 is quite capable camera and it can give extraordinary pictures like a P1000. Your photos are very good and just using tripod one can make better pictures. I want to buy latest Canon R7 + others. Plus every time i end up asking if it worth replacing P1000. Great work!

The P950 does take good photos and i must at least try and make an effort with the monopod for the video side of things and maybe learn manual focus video...do you upgrade ? its an itch that s expensive to scratch 😁
@vimalneha
@vimalneha 6 месяцев назад
@@digger360 Didn’t upgrade even if I plan to go for R7+RF100-500, but I tried with P1000 first, and I achieved the same result. Maybe one day I will just spend the money and get the newest gadgets. I always use Tripod, even if it is heavy to carry around; this gives me always a chance to use a 2-3 stops slower shutter speed, a big advantage! Both P950 and P1000 are extremely versatile cameras; all we need is good natural light, or a flashlight or continuous light. You can easily use ISO 400 on both of them, and there is no significant grain but we have a slower shutter for inanimate, wider aperture for bokeh and a longer exposure. Use exposure compensation, it will help. I use Flash extensively with Magmod diffusers.

I enjoyed your video and found the music and intro eye and ear catching. I have owned a P900 as well as the Canon SX50,60 and 70hs cameras. They have an amazing reach but, as you've discovered, really aren't happy above ISO 200. Early on I photographed eagles tussling in a tree. The SX60 had the reach but couldn't really freeze the action. My P900 did a great job photographing nest building osprey, its range keeping me at a respectful distance and a great place to start learning action photos. RU-vidr Stafford Fuhs has also produced some great videos showing what you can do with bridge cameras like the P950. If you don't mind some constructive criticism, try shortening your videos by a couple minutes, add some "Ken Burns" zooming crops and, perhaps, give us some technical data, apx. focal length and, maybe, distance from subject. Your use of music was excellent and the Ken Burns crops, when appropriate, will give more display time for each photo and help you craft the mood you want your viewer to feel. I hope you will find some value in these suggestions and I look forward to your future videos.

Thanks for the constructive critism it helps me evolve so to speak and i have watched Stafford Fuhs videos which helped me a great deal ...never sure how much details people want see so er on the low side ...but its a great learning curve

Awesome shots you got with the P950, but is it still ok to use maximum 4k30 video? I enjoyed your photos a lot, but the video quality and its autofocus hunting all the time is something super annoying. I often use 1080p120, 4k30 fine or 4k60 (crop) with my EOS R7. And if i could afford, i would also buy something capable of doing 4k120 and 1080p240, better 1080p480 I would really recommend you to step up the game a bit, there are decent and much better options than a P950 out there for like 1000-2000$ body and 600-2000$ the lens. My R7 + RF 800 F11 costed me "just" 2000€ in total and its a charme to have lightweight, great stabiliser and 1280mm+ in this combo. Sony A6700 + 200-600G, alternatively a FF body or so. Panasonic G9 II + 100-400 Leica Nikon camera + 180-600 lens Canon R10, R7 or R8 and either one of those: RF 100-400, RF 800 F11 or even 600 F11, or the best pick (in my opinion), the newly released 200-800 F9 but thats 2000$ lens alone and so a bit pricy. Alternatively, have you ever thought about an "older" point and shoot with 20x optical or more? I had one of the newest Sony WX cameras and its zoom capability was AMAZING, even moon was somewhat detailed. Now im at a W830 and "just" 8x optical is fine as well (25-200mm, complementing the 240-960mm i have on the mirrorless camera with 1,6x crop factor)

Thank you for the honest comment 👍 the only reason i went the P950 was the weight and zoom so it could be worn around my neck while i'm out walking ...l have a slightly dodgy right hand which makes holding a DSLR + big lense very hard work and i did try a friends Nikon D7500 + 150 - 600 sport ? + tripod and it was totally impratical for my walks and i didnt get a single decent photo but i did try it in the height of summer 40C ...my local area which is semi arid desert / scrub so not alot of hiding places apart from your car so normally when out walking its just a few seconds before they fly and i did think @ 1st i could get away without using a tripod or even a mono pod and @ full zoom its as shaky as hell😂so its take a deep breath and try to get a few seconds of good footage and in all the excitement i always forget to focus lock !!! im so busy concentrating on keeping the camera still or i could just get some land put a blind and feeding station / reflection pool on it and sit in comfort with a Nikon D850 + prime lense on a gimbal and bang them out all day long or even rent it out 😉....that would make a good video

@@digger360 I got you. I had the same feeling about the150-600C which is just slightly lighter. 2700g at least with R7, more realistic in my usecase with shotgun mic and iPhone as external monitor is easily 3kg+ but thats mainly a tripod/video setup. But what works GREAT is lets say R10 or R7 + RF 600 or 800 F11, absolutely fine for longer walks plus its superior stabiliser allows for rock steady shots with a bit attention. Thats 1280mm on the 800 F11 without crop and in 32MP (R7) or a 1:1 pixel readout in 4k60 video for „native“ 2300mm, 2500mm with additional 1,1x crop by digital IS or up to 3200mm with enhanced digital stabiliser (1,4x). R7 + RF 800 F11 weights about 1920g with 3rd party, arca swiss tripod foot, 1850g without tripod foot. Thats „just“ 500g more than a P1000 Nikon but so much more capable (in the range of 1280mm+ on APS-C) And the Panasonic G9 II + new 100-400 is the most performing, yet compact/light setup nowadays, just the panny body and leica lens are super expensive for what they give in raw numbers (FL, aperture range, „just“ MFT,…)

@@digger360 I have a few sample shots from wildlife to planets and whats possible handheld with my setup in a few clips. Since 2020 and ongoing many manufacturers released more affordable and especially compact/light setups. In fact the only reason i got into wildlife photography and soon after also video was that the gear became affordable and „small“ enough, no way i would go for a 600 F4, FF body and for more reach a 1,4 and 2x TC, not only because of the price but because its super unconvenient.

@@harrison00xXx 3kg i would need a golf buggy to get that weight around 😁but 1850g would be ok weightwise but out of my price range ....maybe D500 +sigma 150 - 600C @ 2690g pushing the weight but alot of bang for your buck🤔
@harrison00xXx
@harrison00xXx 6 месяцев назад
@@digger360 yep only better bang for the buck would be the 60-600 if its not out of budget (and weight)
