Hey buddy, just wanted to prove a great video is still relevant 11 months on! Just got my Z30 a couple of days ago. With the menu system being different enough from my primary cameras, this was really helpful. Thank you!
Brilliant is an understatement... Just got the Nikon Z30 about a week back.... watched ur narration and those little tips here and there and I'm a much happier person now ... Thank you so much !
Thanks for this Hudson - I've just ordered the Z30 as a 'go anywhere' almost pocket camera for when I don't want to carry a DSLR. I don't shoot much video but having looked at this camera's capability I may try to get into that aspect more. Greetings from the UK.
Hudson, Thanks much for going to the trouble to make this. I’ve had the Z50 for several years. But i’ve just bought a Z30 for its slightly more compact size, to use as a better EDC with the 16-50mm.
thank you for putting this together to help understand. systematic go through all settings with explanation and example displayed. sometimes jumps too fast to next setting and last as to how to get to where up to
Wow thanks so much information I am relearning all I knew about photography from my past for my RU-vid/ Instagram food related content. Loving my new Nikon Z30
Great video. Thanks this was helpful with some of the things on my Z50 after watching and using your Z50 video. It is a little frustrating seeing the 30 coming in cheaper but with more controls than the Z50. Things like focus shift. I wish they would update the Z50 to have everything that the cheaper Z30 has
I love the camera except for the amount of noise I see in the photos, even after exposing to the right, under lots of perfect light (daylight). That's the same noise problem I have with the D500. I don't have noise problems shooting with the D610, D750, and D850. What can I possibly be doing wrong with the Z30 and D500?
Great review/tutorial. Born & raised on SLR/DSLR cameras Presently shooting D800 with 50mm Prime f1.8. Picking up a Z30 end of March. Im wanting to slip into doing short vids, 10min or less. But i also want a compact light camera for street shooting & being less obvious around people. I mean bring a camera up to your eye is a dead give away. Then people change the way they act...not cool. Im budgeting my first Mirrorless to see if i really like it. IM a died in the wool NIKON shooter. So i dont spend any time looking at other brands. Ill subscribe your channel. Cheers
Yes, but... in situations where you want to frame and craft an image, you'll miss one of the greatest benefits of the Z system. The bright, spectacular and precise EVF for composing, focusing zoomed to 100 percent, previewing exposure settings, adjusting menu settings and reviewing images without ever taking your eye away from it. ;) I came from film (35, 645, 4x5) through dslrs to the Z system too. :) the EVF and AF accuracy will blow your mind.
Thank you for explaining all the details but could you help with this one? I can click pictures and everything is working fine except I can check my settings or menu or for that matter any button isn't working 😕. I checked picture is getting clicked and saved on the memory card.i changed memory card as well , took out battery few times no help 😞. Any help would be appreciated
Why do you prefer MOV? I have problem when I recorded a video larger than 4GB. I cannot transfer copy or move to my PC. Do you know how to fix this issue?
What version of windows are you using? Technically anything over windows 7 comes with NTFS file system as default so 4gb should be no problem. It will not transfer to a USB formatted in FAT32 but directly on the PC I can't figure out what the problem could be.. MOV is mostly used for easier audio editing as the audio is separated from video so you can "detach" it easier in the editing software. It doesn't give any video quality advantages so if you are experiencing problems with file transfer and you don't edit much audio, go for MP4
Hello. I have a question. how to unlock the Z30 when I disconnect the lens and attach it via the Baader Wide-T-Ring Nikon Z Adapter. How to unlock it so that I can take a photo through the Celestron Ultima 80 telescope.
Awesome Video, can you share you’re video settings that you used for this video. I just purchased the z30 but I’m having a problem with my video. My video is too zoomed in. I would like for my video to look like yours. I can see you and everything around you. It’s not so close up.
You simply need a wider angle lens. The 24 1.7 is a great prime for the dx sensor. The 16-50 kit lens is also a good choice. I have those linked at my site. Www.hudsonhenry.com/atslinks
Buddy thank you for such in depth sharing. I have a question: Knowing that the battery life for stills is pretty poor for this camera, is there an option to turn OFF the display once I start my 2 or 3 hour interval shooting for astrophotography to squeeze as many pictures out as possible? Does the external charging help or will it still slowly drain?
@@HudsonHenryPhoto My camera is not connected to a computer or to a phone. I don't have a remote either. In this case is it possible to pause directly from my z30 Nikon camera? Also I have a strong background noise when I record video. Is it possible to reduce the noise and stress more on my voice? Thank you in advance! 😁
Didn't understand the statement " you cannot change WB in post ". ]We WB calibrate and match footage from other cameras in post. Is this something "new" that Z30 does to your video ? Just curios... Thank you
Hello Hudson. I have been following your channel regularly. Must admit the Nikon Z30 tutorial did help. Recently I bought a 7ARTISANS PHOTOELECTRIC 12MM F/2.8 MARK II LENS FOR NIKON Z. The manual lens is working fine but unfortunately I am unable to load Non CPU lens data on my Nikon Z30 camera settings. It does let me set the highest aperture to 2.8 but Lens focal length does not give any option to select 12mm. Nikon only has options for 8mm or 13mm. What to do? I will be glad if you can give any possible solution to fix it.
"(UPDATE): Turn off Self Portrait mode in Setup Menu! It frees the LCD when pointed forward for video." I just got myself a Sony ZV-E10 for recording RU-vid video in my office, but unfortunately I can't find a setting to stop the image as viewed on the camera's screen, from being reversed left to right (of course it doesn't record like that... so it's just a vlogging feature, but like I say, I really, really, want to be able to disable it... everything's on the wrong side of the room when I'm aligning the camera as it's pointing at me). Unfortunately it'll be going back to Jessops, and I'm hoping not all cameras force this setting upon us. So, I'm hoping, as I've quoted you above, by "frees", you mean exactly what my issue is... so do you mean there's a setting to disable this so-called mirror mode? If so, then the Nikon Z30 could be the answer for me. Edit: Ah, or maybe by frees, you just mean it keeps the touch screen's controls enabled/operable? In which case I'm still stuffed for a choice of camera.
@@HudsonHenryPhoto thank you for reply.... ive assigned shutter button to record video last night... but it has become two steps button which I don't like... is there any way to make it simple single step ..??
