Long time Z user here, thank you for sharing the Z love. Too much hate these days for Nikon 😣 refreshing to see content that's positive for the Z platform.
@championthewonderhorse9733
@championthewonderhorse9733 3 года назад
The hate from some influencers is ridiculous. And many of the videos hammering Nikon over AF aren't using AF properly. Or the complaints are about the EVF overlay whereas the images are perfect. Coming from Nikon and then Sony and back to Nikon, the grip, comfort, IBIS, EVF, eye relief, menus, buttons, rear LCD, color, IQ, and overall user experience is better than the Sony which is cramped, hard edged, uncomfortable and fiddly to use. The latest Canons are great (would be hard to get worse than the R and RP), but are considerably more expensive and slightly bigger and heavier. Nikon deserves plaudits for such great cameras.

I just got done with a z6II (Firmware 1.2) after a two week rental, and I have to say, its quite good but no where near as good as my old D500. I'm not shooting at professional venues which throw 2000 Lux per Meter Sq. of light, lighting conditions were less than optimal and it struggled. The other thing - for every battery of the D500 I burnt through 3 on the Z6II, as I didn't rent the battery pack.

Great video as always. He’s a Nikon Ambassador. I’m on the other end of the scale. I have an entry level camera shooting minor hockey ( with the exception of this year due to Covid). I use two lenses. The Nikkor AF-P DX 70-300mm f:/4,5-6.3G ED VR and the18-55 kit lens. Sometimes the 50mm f:/1.8 depending what I want to capture behind the scenes. The speed, the challenge of getting the shot, and challenging myself to get the images I want with the equipment I have. Nice to see another sports photographer being interviewed. This is rare.

How do the Nikon EVFz (couldn't resist) compare to like the higher end Fuji APS-C cameras? Do they lag?
@briankelly3568
@briankelly3568 3 года назад
I just got a z62 and I've had an XT3 for a while. I think the z62 evf is better in normal shooting but there is heavy lag in continuous extended that you don't get in the XT3. If you keep it at regular continuous high the lag isn't bad.

I am looking to upgrade my Nikon cameras, not upgrade, add, but sorry, pre production appears to be better at autofocus than post production. The only thing about the mirrorless systems (other than video) that I want is silent shutter.

If you need great AF get the II's versions. If you want portraits, landscapes, product photography get the Z7. The latest update on the first versions made them more competitive

Hi Do you think the z6 ii matches up to the d5, and other sports cameras Thank you
@stanspb763
@stanspb763 3 года назад
The Z6 has wider DR at low ISO and stays with the D5 up to about 102,000 ISO and above that, the D5 fall off less than the Z6 or Z6 2.I was very surprised by the high ISO performance if the Z6. It uses the Expeed 6 processor, a generation newer than the D5. The big question is always AF, the D5 is very good tracking over the smaller portion of the frame where there are focus points but even the Z6 does a good job if the appropriate AF mode is selected for the particular conditions of the shot. The Z6 2 is better at locking on in AF-C but not in AF-S where both are very accurate, more so than the competition, in light down to -6ev. There is one trait of mirrorless, all mirrorless that makes getting used to it to get good action results: shutter lag is longer so if you are used to a D5, your timing is tighter from press to capture. You notice the longer delay, in thousands of seconds, but just enough that you need to get used to anticipating the release time needed for the capture of peak action, assuming you are shooting in single-shot mode. Image quality SOOC is just plain better, the images look great. I have a D850, probably the best all-around DSLR ever made and almost twice the resolution of the Z6 but unless tripod-mounted and remote release, it is very hard to tell the difference in resolving power at any less than 200% magnification. Unless an art director insists on large files, all most work and my hobby shooting is with the Z6. It is such a joy to use and with the EVF plus the stunning corner to corner sharpness of the S lenses, it is really hard going back to F mount lenses and DSLRs.The Z6 2 is also a tremendous bargain. There are no FF cameras I have seen which match it for build quality, color science, connectivity, handling, control placement weather sealing,
