They might make a full on open world Mario game. If they do, I'll preorder the day it's announced. I feel Bowser's Fury is a prototype if people like it.
@@KazShiro the creative officer takashi izuka had to push Sega to let the team delay sonic frontiers for a year to make it what it is today. It was originally supposed to come out in 2021. Thank God they listened. Game turned out very well. And was updated and completely overhauled for free over the course of a year based entirely on fan feedback. That's something no other developer does anymore. Like. Anywhere. They completely revamped the entire last quarter of the game adding another 10 hours of content. Making Amy tails and knuckles playable for the first time since 2006 in 3D. And a completely overhauled final boss and ending with 2 new super forms for sonic. True dedication. All for free. Sega is honestly goated tbh. They care alot. It's just higher ups that force a short time constraint. And don't hire enough people into sonic team. The poor bastards only have about 60 people on their team. But now that sonic has exploded in success and popularity, they probably see how much of a cash cow it is. Which is probably why we've gotten so much content in the last 2 years. With more on the way. It just sucks because it took this long for them to offer all this money and resources. Yakuza has always had great support from them. Same with persona. But they always gave sonic the short end of the stick
@@justyouraveragegamer6142 Yeah I fully agree after hearing how stressful Sonic Heroes' development was(which is why the games levels seem repetitive cause it had 1 person working on it) and was pretty worried with frontiers having a similar situation (not with having 1 person but it being stressful to the point some lost weight over it). Some people think that games being rushed out leading to cut corners was a recent thing or at least begining in ps3 era for some. But nope these types of situations occured far back in ps1 era like the poor conditions with how the crash trilogy was made or the situation when Ratchet and Clank 2-3 was being developed which The Golden Bolt has a full detail describing that. It just took until around late ps3 to ps4 era for those cracks to show fully or even break. It makes me feel bad for the people that aspire to become game developers.
@@אוריתנמימי-ז6ע nah ur English is fine - it’s spelt definitely btw - and yeah I feel like because of the Mario movie they didn’t want to take attention away from it, plus the pandemic affected stuff, so less attention would be put on a 3d Mario especially when they made bowsers fury aswell
Yeah, seriously! People need to chill out about this! Like yeah, it's almost been seven years since the last 3D Mario game! But, as someone who loves the New series, I've been BEGGING for a brand new 2D Mario game for over eleven years now!! And much more than a 3D title, for me personally!! And fun fact, that's the second longest time period for a mainline 2D Mario game to release from one to another, with the longest being from Six Golden Coins to NSMB.
@@l.h.1429you don’t seem to understand just how long it takes to develop a video game, especially 3D ones. I’m pretty sure Nintendo is working on the next 3D game, they just put out Mario Wonder to keep people occupied until it releases
I mean, to the guys, credit the 2D and 3D titles usually don't overlap and have never in the past when it came to development and also released in the same years as each other and etc.
Nintendo fans when they run out of things to complian that aren't bad business practices or the 400th Scarlet & Violet rant and need to add a clickbaity title:
Aside from WII every home console has had one mainline 3D Mario game. The switch itself has gone the longest of all Nintendo consoles without a new console. I doubt anything is planned for the switch on 3d Mario or it would have released. They are probably waiting for Nintendos next console.
Mario fans: we have it so bad, guys. F-Zero, Punch-Out!!, Rhythm Heaven, Kid Icarus, Earthbound, Golden Sun, Wii series, Elite Beat Agents, Banjo Kazooie, Mega Man, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Skylanders, Sly Cooper, Motor Storm, Burnout, Virtua Fighter, and Puzzle League fans:
Nintendo waited 6 years to release a follow up to Mario 64. Super Mario Odyssey was such an epic love letter to the Super Mario series that it is difficult to follow up. I would love 2 3D Mario games per console but it is what it is.
We almost always only get one 3D Mario game per console generation, usually as a launch title or pretty close to it. N64 was Mario 64, GameCube was Sunshine. The Wii was a special case with Galaxy 1 and 2, but then you have to consider that Galaxy 2 was built off the back of 1 with mostly reused assets, and was originally meant to just be an expansion of sorts before it became its own game. Wii U got 3D World, Switch got Odyssey. I would expect the next 3D Mario when Nintendo releases its next console.
Nah he has a point I miss the true Nintendo making the ultimate Mario games growing up, Wonder was awesome but I do want remakes and overall just bringing back my childhood
I dont think Earthbound was forgotten, they just wanted it to end. Really all I think could be done with it now is localizing Mother 3 but aside from that.
I don’t blame them because they have high expectations to be reaching mario odyssey is literally the best 3D platformer of all time its not an easy task to make something better or atleast equal to its quality
When Ubisoft released Mario rabbits 2, I saw in an internet article, Miyamoto said to Ubisoft it was not a good idea to release this game in the same console, they should have wait until the next console. Also he said is better to put as much as possible inside the game so the game can last at least 10 years in stores. When I heard this miyamoto declaration, now I understood why they only make one game for each franchise, there is no Mario oddeyssey 2, yoshis craft world 2. So instead they make remakes of older games so they can launch more games.
There are fans which are creating a lot of fan-games (or mods), notably "Super Mario Eclipse", which is basically Sunshine, but with a ton of improvements, new levels, and a post-game surprise. Other examples are "Super Mario Galaxy 63", "Super Mario Galaxy 64", "Super Mario Gravity", and "Super Mario Galaxy 2: Collectors Anxiety" but they are still in the 'Demo' phase.
Timescaling is crazy, I remember it taking forever from 3D World to Odyssey, even though it only took 4 years. Odyssey on the other hand feels like it released like 2 or 3 years ago, even though it did 7 years ago
I wonder why it only took 3 years to make galaxy 2… hmmmm… maybe it’s because they have the entire physics engine and returning gravity mechanics from galaxy 1. The entire game wasn’t made in 3 years. Parts of it already existed before the development cycle even started.
Absolutely! 100% agree with this!! The wait for a new 2D Mario game was much longer, with it taking over eleven years before Wonder's release!! And as someone who's a massive fan of the New series, I was BEGGING for a 2D Mario game much more than a 3D game!!
I literally can't see the negative point. It took them 4 years after 3d world to release SMO, and they created one of the besy video games ever. Waiting more means that the next game will probably be even better.
Excuse me "completely develop Super Mario Galaxy 2?" They didn't have to "completely develop" a game that essentially used its predecessor's assets as its entire structure.
I love how the 3 year gap between Galaxy 1-2 is an excuse. Like bro, making Galaxy 2, they already had the engine in place, making Galaxy 1, it must've taken forever to even build an engine with proper physics and a supporting camera and rotation properties, gravity switches, black holes, and more. Making that is enough, but to copy it to everything must be harder to change the physics.
Yes it‘s because we haven‘t had a new console for a while. Nintendo once said that they normally make one 3d mario game per console because these games should also show what‘s possible with the new hardware.
Ive literally just completed the main story after getting it for the first time a few days ago. Absolutely amazing. Gave me great nostalgia vibes from the N64 days.
Maybe because Mario’s format was and still is build for 2D platformers. These causal dips into 3D are experimental since it would be hard to figure out what Mario would be doing in a 3D environment.
Dear Nintendo, for a Mario game please make it long. We can’t keep playing a game that gets beaten in 2 days or less. It needs to be as long or longer than 64 and sunshine but more detailed. Think of an open world with Mario everything, online mode, collectable costumes, characters, secret bosses, many variations of levels, a little bit of driving and flying and incredible music like nintendo 64. These last few Mario games have been weak in this sense. We don’t want a million Mario games doing the same one concept. We want a full Mario Game with a million more features. You make billions of dollars so there is no way it can’t be done. QUALITY not QUANTITY please!!!! Bring Wal luigi in, yoshis, everything!! It can be done and if money is your only goal you know this concept will make you more money than you know, - fan speaking from this heart on this subject ❤
They're definitely saving it for the Switch 2. I would HATE for a 3D Mario to come out near the end of Switch 1's lifetime. Those games are spectacles that cement themselves in gaming history. They need to be well made and polished.
@@Crazycool2548What's wrong with it being a 2D game? In fact, Mario has not gotten a 2D Mario game for over eleven years before Wonder's release!! And as someone who's actually a massive fan of the New series, I was dying for a new 2D Mario game!! Especially much more than a 3D game!
@Crazycool2548 Oh. I see where you're coming from now. My apologies from before, my peep. But, I still find it pretty dumb that people just kind of forgot that Wonder exists and is already begging for the next 3D title to be released.
On another note, this is the longest Nintendo has ever gone without introducing new hardware. This is the first time in Nintendo history where their newest system is 7 years old.
There should be a Super Mario Odyssey 2 where Mario travels to other Nintendo universes like Donkey Kong Country, Zelda, Star Fox, Kirby, Pokémon, F-Zero, Metroid, Mother, Fire Emblem, etc.
When I had a Nintendo 64 Mario n64 was my favorite game as a kid I literally wouldn’t get off the game and not let go my controller I would stay glued to my bed and my eyes aiming at the screen watching it and completing the levels
Tbf 2D Mario needed an overhaul with Wonder so I'm glad they prioritized that. But with that out of the way, it would be nice for 3D to be back again soon.
Mario fans think they have it tough when Donkey Kong hasn’t had a new game in an even longer time, and no the Switch version of Tropical Freeze doesn’t count, and Mario Vs Donkey Kong? Sorta…
They usually only do one per console generation, Galaxy 2 being the outlier. 64 on 64, Sunshine on GC, Galaxy on Wii, 3D World on Wii U, Odyssey on Switch. Its the longest wait between games because its the longest wait between consoles, since the Switch is doing way better than even the Wii did and they want to hold onto that success until it finally dies out rather than kill it with the next Wii U
Ah yes, the 3 year gap since 2021 is clearly longer than the 6 year gap from 1996-2002. Even if we don't count Bowser's Fury, 7 years isn't that ridiculous. I really shouldn't have to remind you but we waited 14 years from 1992-2006 to get a new 2d mario game, with there only being 2 mainline mario games being released at all: Super Mario 64 & Super Mario Sunshine. And the 2d games are *SIGNIFICANTLY* easier to make then their 3d games. Not to mention that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the single worst example of game development time you could ever use since Super Mario Galaxy is essentially just a slightly advanced rom hack for Galaxy 1, meaning that they didn't have to build it from scratch; like they clearly are doing this time.
