The second time is technically furikake but yes the movie does abruptly plug a promotion with a packaged food/seasoning company, 永谷園 (Nagatanien). Both times they're literally like "Oh no, Princess Peach! But first, Mario ramen/furikake!! So good!!"
@@WobblesandBean In the first SMB, the indestructible bricks are canonically toads cursed by Bowser that give mario gifts. There's no sign of this in the movie but Bowser's transformation curse is referenced with Haru's Kibidango form that Prince Florian is based on.
@@pina_nina_fresa well, no. mario land predates the mario movie by 4 years, although the mario movie does predate mario tennis which was the start of daisy's more prominent role in the greater mario franchise by 7 years
@@KaloTerni You're a manchild who talks about Thomas the Tank engine (a show for literal toddlers) in the comments, You have no ground to dictate who's a clown.
It's funny to consider that Mario and Peach never get their own "happily ever after" in any iteration of Mario media. It eventually always leads to rejection. _It's a cannon event_
I can't beIieve he's a boy. I wanṭ to ḍo unspeakabIe thingṣ ṭo him for beịng much ćuter than Peach, Mario has bad taste for going after Peach and noṭ Haru.
Haru in Japanese means light, sun, or spring. Since peaches (the fruit) are traditionally harvested in the summer, that means they grow in the spring. So that means that Prince Haru is a perfect match in name at least! (or I'm overthinking it)
Oh hey mal, what did you thought about this different zoey chick, who's her boyfriend is a rapping short dog, parrapa the rapper (this different zoey concept character that dawn replaced from revenge of the island concept art)
Makes perfect sense to me. Mario and Peach ultimately have a chivalric romance. It is never actually meant to be consumated. They just flirt in an elaborate way, she bestows tokens of favor upon him, he is inspired to great deed by her. But the knight does not actually marry his fair lady, unless perhaps they are of equal estate.
Knights did tend to be nobility though. The regular people trained in the sword were often mercs or soldiers. Pretty difficult to afford all that armor and weapons on a farmers salary.
Arguably Mario isn’t a knight in this situation tbh. He’s the unlikely hero. Knights were typically of nobility as it took resources and education to fill such a position.
Prince Florian is a caterpillar, I was expecting him to turn into a butterfly near the end of the game. But no, all he does is hold on to your badges. The idea of the main character having a small creature by their side has been done so much in Nintendo games that it's starting to become clichéd, having Florian turn into a butterfly would've made it at least somewhat interesting.
Oh man this comment section; I will not take Prince Haru slander. I don't get why people just assume that just because a guy helps a girl out, that means they're automatically entitled to some sort of romantic relationship with them. It's incel logic. Just because a Yahoo! plumber man saves a princess from a different dimension, doesn't mean that said plumber man is entitled to her.
You’re welcome to like him all you want but bad writing is bad writing lmao. He practically did nothing for like most of the movie and the fact that all of the interactions Mario and peach have for most of it get squashed by some random dog having similar jewelry? Idc if Mario doesn’t end up with peach, in fact the new Mario movie did it better cuz it actually portrayed the two as good friends, but the fact that Nintendo hasn’t said a thing about him and any mention of him is practically lost media to the average human being, ESPECIALLY given that Mario wonder happened and they could’ve easily brought him back, shows that even THEY agree that he was an a ss character.
@@tacobanana6538 You're just biased against him. Dogharu and the brooch are also far too involved in the plot for the silly argument that he only existed for the ending. They did modernize him in the form of Florian and i think that's pretty undeniable, I feel like the reason he didn't have a human form is because Nintendo nowdays doesn't want to expand the maincast with new human mainstays.
@@horimahorima3250 mind Giving me a couple of examples where his contribution actually mattered then? Cuz as far as I can remember there was I believe one Instance. Plus, it only proves my point that Nintendo very clearly didn’t like him for how he was too if They had to “modernize” him. Mario, DK, Peach, even Pauline didn’t get as huge of a change in the many years in terms of who they were. It’s huge cope to believe that Nintendo liked his Presence after the ending otherwise there would’ve been another fiancé in at least ONE of the games.
I'm definitely not the first to notice this but it's kinda funny seeing all the similarities this movie has with Mario Wonder. Like, not only Prince Florian's design resembles the dog but also the prince says he's from the Flower Kingdom? Plus all of the Toad's designs kinda look like the Poplin's as well
I saw this movie. It was good. It was heartbreaking when Mario found out that Princess Peach was already engaged to Prince Haru who was the dog the whole time. What I found unexpected was that Bowser ended up working with the Mario brothers at their store. That woman’s reaction when Bowser gave her her groceries 😂, that game over screen.
Yeah...there's a reason why Haru was never seen AGAIN. Wanna talk about fumbling over the finish line in what was otherwise a fine OVA for everyone's favorite plumber. Back in Japan, this received a ton of advertising and product endorsements. And yet, we never heard about this film until the internet. We can thank Haru for that, as how do you think fans would had reacted to this ending? Where he swoops in and steals a ending he didn't earn?
@@IndustrialParrot2816 Not true since they are COMELETLY different people, since Prince Florian wasnt cursed and he is the 1st main series Prince ever, while Prince Haru is NON canon to the main series and he was cursed to be a caterpillar dog like creature.
Am I the only one thinking a Mario-Peach official ship would ruin everything? Peach clearly likes Mario, and Mario likes Peach, but it's not strong enough for a real relationship. Also to all the "Rosalina is Mario's daughter" theorists, no. She's Luigi's daughter, the Luigi-Daisy ship is a way stronger one, and the description she gives of her father fits Luigi way more.
@@jossuecabrera8611well for odyssey it was a 1v1 where bowser and Mario were both vying for Pp (princess peach) in the endgame scenario when it was supposed to be “over” so she simply put them on the bench, let’s be honest I don’t see peach getting down with anyone else besides the two, she’s emotionally invested with both of them more than any other character, having literally teamed up with Mario, and bowser Twice in story lines to defeat a villain, essentially they’re a good group of friends but bowsers got his own kingdom to look after, and I think while peach and Mario are endgame, bowser is still a “friend” despite his taking of the princess, she’s basically being waded on hand and foot until the “final climax” between Mario and Bowser, so she’s just maintaining the status quo, to spare more so bowsers feelings. Cause it would ruin the dynamic between all of them, also if Luigi can plough a princess Mario’s got good odds.
Prince Florian has the exact same crown as Haru, look up the offical artwork. Florian's eyes and big nose are also similar to prince Haru's dog form. There's definitely a connection here...
Mario and Bowser have more in common than either of them would like to admit, but the most important thing is what they’re fighting for: to win Peach’s hand in marriage, and to eliminate ANY AND ALL inside and outside competition, including each other AND this “Prince Haru” character.
Prince haru? But he looks like a cute girl 😆 Maybe princess peach likes femboys? I mean if i was mario and the girl i liked picked a a femboy over me i'd be upset too You'd expect "prince" (princess) haru to want luigi, not peach. Is he the precursor to daisy? 😂
I'd like to see this character make a comeback in the games at some point. The more that i think about it, the relationship between Mario and Princess Peach (as well as Link and Zelda, but that's a different discussion) is less romantic than it is one platonically willing to protect the other from harm. And the concept of a charming shape-shifting prince being in a Mario story could be fun. Either as an ally to Mario and Peach. Or, as a rival to Mario and Bowser over Peach's affection.
Peach: Thanks for saving me mario, going on a long dangerous journey with many parrels out of the goodness of your heart with no expectation of reward was so nice of you. Your a good FRIEND.
Just because you helped someone, even saved their life, doesn't mean they owe you their body/marriage. If you save someone, would you get mad if they don't marry you? Sorry, but your process of thinking is creepy af.
I don't care if this movie came out before Fire Emblem was even a thought in the back of Kaga's head, I will always see Haru as a dollar store version of Marth.
Oh yeah I think I've watched this movie like once or twice. That ramen scene randomly shows up out of nowhere, the Mario Brothers just pauses in middle of the movie to eat the noodles, supposedly because whoever made the noodles are the sponsors.
You: Have long history and good chemistry. Your brother: Is a plan B if something bad happens to you. Your rival: Uses bribery and threats to get his way. Some random, third-party guy: Is in a position of authority, and has a matching outfit.
WAIT WHOA WHAT?! PRINCE HARU?! HOW AM I LEARNING THIS NOW?! IM 21 YEARS OLD AND THOUGHT PEACH AND MARIO WERE A COUPLE SINCE I WAS FIVE! Move out of the way Peach, because Haru is MINE! HOW TF HAVE WE NEVER SEEN THIS MAJESTIC CHARACTER OTHER THAN NOW IN THIS SHORT?! 😭 Nintendo you bastards! Bring back Prince Haru!!!!!
You didn’t mention how Prince Haru was from the Flower Kingdom, which is where Mario Wonder would take place. I wonder if the devs took some inspiration from this flim or it’s just a complete coincidence.
Relax everybody. The instruction booklet for the original SMB game shows that this did indeed happen, but Mario and Luigi both left with a big sack of gold, each. They were rewarded handsomely, still!
I believe Mario says something limke: "Your happiness is my happiness, princess." Despite being sad. Which indicates that no matter what, he'll love Peach and support her even if he's not the one she's with.
Most things in mario aren't cannon like you can say most of the mainline games aren't cannon as their isn't a actual timeline for mario each game and is set in its own universe otherwise we'd be seeing all the planets and things from mario galaxy in the sky in each and every mario game after galaxy which would be cool but that isn't happening so whats cannon to mario is what you determined to be cannon to mario as long as it exists in mario
And yet it's interesting that some games try to establish canon, for example Super Mario 64 DS where certain characters like Koopa the Quick tell Mario it's been a while since they've seen him last, implying the game takes place after the events of the original (most of the castle is the same, meaning the new rooms could have been built in-universe), or Super Mario 3D World with the Galaxy themed bonus space world and Rosalina, or the references to Luigi's Mansion in Super Mario Sunshine
I actually hate that ending. Mario and Luigi do all the leg work while Wiggler Dog Prince plods about and hides like a coward, then he gets the princess because he had the other half of the pendant. Bowser helping the Marios with their shop at the very end was funny, but Peach marrying the guy who only appears at the end of the journey is just bad writing
Right, I remember the movie being decent until that stupid ending came along and ruined it (the ending is the reason I refuse to rewatch it) but let's say that if Mario did get with Peach what about Luigi?
Well considering peach always declines mario, this isnt surprising. But at least theres a strong theory that peach dates Luigi. One of the brothers win anyway
