Hope you all enjoyed. And Thank you Demeech for having me guest star and voice Matt the Mii. My microphone broke so I apologize for my crappy audio. I hope you liked the show.
The most baffling thing to me about this game is that according to the developers in their own interview, the reason for there not being many sports is that they feel they did everything they wanted in Resort. If that's the case, why not just port over that game. If it's because they wouldn't be able to give them all online play, then don't; that apparently wasn't the original plan anyway.
Why didn't they just port over all the sports and features from Sports Resort and add things like online play. It's not like it's impossible to add new features to old games. They are just being lazy.
Nintendo in the 1990’s: “A delayed game is potentially good, a rushed game is forever bad” Nintendo in the 2020’s: “A delayed game is potentially good, a rushed game can be fixed with drip-fed free content updates”
Online multiplayer needs public testing. Everyone does it. It's the only practical solution. Dripfeeding facilitates that. It's not ideal, but ideal isn't always feasible. And Miyamoto never said that. It's an urban legend.
Never got the “you bought it though” argument. Especially in cases like this where y’know you have to review the game? You can buy something and be disappointed in it and think the company’s not making smart moves
yeah, that argument is pretty dumb and it's really childish. Of course a company isn't gonna be 100% transparent about their product, they want to lower their costs and heighten their profit, Nintendo wouldn't tell you that the game is a dumpster fire, cause no one would buy it. There are also laws to protect consumers from bad practices from businesses, The lawmakers of society even made that who are definitely smarter than youtube comment section, plus how are you gonna know instantly if what your buying was bad?
True. Let's just keep buying all their games, at some point they'll understand those games aren't doing that well and improve, because they really care about their consumers.
It's not meant for singular products, but for when you're upset with a company as a whole. Ie, if you are constantly let down by a company why don't you just spend your money elsewhere instead of encouraging the mediocrity.
Can't believe we waited thirteen years for this. I was expecting the next sports game to be a huge explorable wuhu island. Looks like that won't be happening.
It should have been a tomodachi life AND wii sports hybrid on a large island with shops to buy clothes, gear/equipment and minigames. I thought it was going to be like that but its just so...lame
@@RathouseFilmworks What kind of hogwash are you spewing. Odyssey and Breath of the Wild are massive steps forward in their respective franchises. WarioWare is also very solid, though lacking in online multiplayer is very strange for a game that is specifically designed as a party experience. But, they have made lots of great games on the Switch.
It's so wild how popular Miitopia's Mii customization was so good and well received. With the wigs and makeup you could do so much more with your Mii's and make them look even better, it was great! Then Nintendo decided that instead of highly customizable characters, let's make characters that are as basic and hallow as can be. *They all look the same.* Their heads, their faces and their bodies are pretty much nearly identical. It reminds me of the corporate art style every company wants to use nowdays, lifeless and boring
When I see this game it reminds me how incredible Wii Sports Resort actually was, there were 12 ‘games’ which were more like categories that split off into completely different experiences. There’s more like 30 games in Wii sports, all of which are fun, polished, and have a lot of depth. Air sports, especially island flyover, was so good that it got its own spin-off game on the 3DS called Pilotwings Resort. Cycling and Golf also let you really explore and immerse yourself in the island.
The island and pilot wings were even both made into two separate stages for super smash bros too (with miis in the background doing stuff in the island stage as well).
@@DarkWaWeeGee I’m aware of Pilotwings, but I’d consider it less of a direct remake of Pilotwings and more of an expansion of Island Flyover due to how similarly it plays and it being in Wuhu island. It’s more like a hybrid remake of Pilotwings and Island Flyover.
The fact that Nintendo made adding in leg strap compatibility a "leg-endary" free update is still so stupid to me. Like screw Super Mario Maker 2's World Builder update, forget Garfield Jenny and Hugh Neutron getting revealed for Nick Brawl, Nintendo adding in the functionality to use a pack in accessory is truly a legendary update!
Soccer doesn't even use enough motion controls to feel like the other sports. Like is it hard to make the controller to detect running in place for the input for the dash?
I feel like the downhill started with Satoru Iwata passing away. I think he was the soul of the old Nintendo we remember and of the Nintendo which loves their games, polishes them and cherishes each and every one of them, instead of producing them in a factory, one after another, rushing and letting "incomplete" games being released just to meet the deadlines and minimize costs and maximize profits. You could clearly see that in his Direct appearances, how he refers and communicates with the audience and fans. It's no longer there. He really didn't feel like a greedy corporate boss who is detached from his products, he had true passion for games. Do you sense that from the current Nintendo director? I don't even know his name or can't remember his face, because the interaction with fans is no longer there. Now it's just soulless business and it is evidently reflected in the games. Nintendo lost their soul together with Iwata.
Mr. Iwata was an absolute treasure. This was the man who reportedly took a paycut to avoid laying people off. With the way they act now, it's kinda gross how they capitalize off of his memory. I genuinely wonder how they would react if someone told them, point blank, "Satoru Iwata would be disappointed in what you've become." Because it's *true.*
What's even stupider is the fact that this gamenwas launched FIVE YEARS after the Switch released. If this was a pack in title in 2017, it would've been a little bit acceptable. But the fact that they waited 5 years to make this a 60 dollar game despite its minimal content is quite ridiculous.
@@aydenator27 well, the Canada part is true, but you don’t need online to play the game, will you get a better experience playing it? Yes, do you need it? No.
The reason why people are angry about miis, including me, I feel, is that it takes away the charm of the characters. Something about miis was always charming, and to see them being replaced by generic cookie cutter characters that look like they’d be in balan wonderworld sucks
That awkward moment when someone could go out and find a used copy of Wii Sports Resort for 26 bucks and get more gameplay than your present day offering. Thanks, Second and Charles, for having that in a glass display. Always hang onto your old consoles, kids.
@Su Geun they literally didn't have time to add support for the leg strap or even add golf. The game needed more time and it was obvious when the trailer said that golf would be added at a later date.
@Su Geun Nintendo actually putting effort into the game and it having less content than it's predecessor for the Wii Are contradictory statements unless you're suggesting Nintendo's devs somehow regressed in skill Which is honestly not that much better of an image than if they just rushed it
1:35 The fact that he basically called out all those Nintendo's RU-vidrs that constantly complain about Nintendo's greedy business practices but then still buys said products already makes this guy a whole lot more relatable and funny. 😁👍
I hate how overlooked the Miis have become nowadays. The only place where I'm satisfied with the Miis on switch is in SSBU and Miitopia. In those games, the Miis are simply base templates with the faces and general proportion already created. Both games give the player a crap ton of customizations in terms of moveset and clothing, and Miitopia also gives extra Mii face modifications. Then you see Switch Sports and I think it's art style sucks ass because it doesn't feel like this is a world where you'd put Miis. SSBU doesn't either, but the Mii fighters get clothing and lighting that makes their inclusion look good. This game, on the other hand, plasters your Mii face on a Switch Sport dude. This makes the Mii disproportionately tall and the outfit and lighting doesn't match the face.
And people don't want miis because they want to play as them, they want the game to be centered around miis. Everything from the environment, the stage, the area, the players you play against, etc.
Nintendo has a history of being too self-complacent when they're economically doing well, yet know how to cater to their hardcore fans and make pro-consumer moves when they're struggling. I somewhat can't wait for Nintendo to flop so they can act like they care again.
Literally Nintendo during the Wii U era compared to the Switch era. Back then they were so legitimately desperate that they called out to their fans. Today they wouldn't give a single care of what we think or say and just do their own thing.
Well, there isn’t much to disrespect. They are a rich triple A game company. To them, they don’t really care about your opinion, it’s simply petty. However, rather that shit posting about Nintendo’s new Sport game, maybe put some positivity out there, Super Mario Maker 2 is arguably an amazing game.

If we never call out companies when they pull bullshit and never inform others about that bullshit, then these companies will be able to keep getting away with their bullshit and will push to see how much bullshit we will tolerate before calling them out
@@thatitalianlameguy2235 That's not proper logic. The first bit about there being less content says nothing about whether the game was rushed out or not. It could be possible that they did not want to try to completely duplicate Wii Sports Resort. The second bit is just you guys clinging to the only excuse you'll believe. If you believe, "Nintendo is/has become a scummy company," you'll buy into any logic that portrays them as that. The most likely reason for the delay in content is to stagger interest in the game. They want people to keep playing the games and give it a longer shelf life. It's even more obvious with the weekly collection updates. They could have just released all of it at the same time. All the collection items are technically in the cart and other sports data were datamined along side it. They could have pushed the release and released it all at the same time. So why? Let's look at Wii Sports Resort. When Switch Sports was released, people were clamoring about how Resort was better. Some of those people dusted off their Wiis and Wii Us to play the previous entries of Nintendo's sports games to prove their point. How many of those people are still playing it now? Not many. So if a great game such as Wii Sports Resort couldn't keep people playing, how would a game that would never live up to it keep people playing? How could it stay relevant? By having DLC added later, it helps keep interest in the game. If everything was dumped on Day 1, people would play it for a month or two, say it was good, and abandon it for the next multiplayer game they see (or were already playing). it is important to multiplayer games nowadays to have updates and DLC to stay relevant. The approach Nintendo decided was to split up the game and hope that keeps the game alive longer. I think it isn't a half bad idea, but it comes with the risk of the game "feeling" incomplete.
You know, it's disappointing. Miitopia is possibly my favorite game on the switch because it has so much personality and customization, that even though the story itself is really basic, it's probably one of the most interesting experiences on the system. I was really hoping that the next announcement for the mii was that they had complete compatibility with the miitopia editor for the actual system and you could use them in other games such as smash or even a new wii sports game, only For them to do a giant 180 and it's really pathetic. Even wii sports club looks like a better game than this piece of shit, and that's a game that is so messy that even trying to get ahold of it is a mess. Outside of that, really the only issue I have with that game and its stiff movement is the narrator really sucks, but at least it feels like a wii sports game, and I can use miis only possible via the updated editor. This game is just an embarrassment. I don't know what the hell Nintendo was thinking, but I think it really captures how corporate the company has gotten. Wii sports isn't a great game by today's standards because it doesn't have that much content, but it has so much charm and personality that it's still a blast to this day, whereas this game is the same but removed or neutered all of the good sports and made it look and feel so soulless.
Nintendo has is the RICHEST COMPANY IN JAPAN. And you're telling me they can't hire more people, have more teams to work on revivng old games like F-Zero, Rhythm Heaven, Chibi-Robo, Punch-Out, etc. Heck, they could even pull a SEGA or Valve and hire the people making fan games.
I wasn’t gonna get Nintendo Switch Sports even from its announcement, but you’ve managed to show me that it’s far worse than even I could ever imagine.
Talk about a game that many people were asking for for years and got them really hyped when it was revealed, only to end up being underwhelming, soulless and unfinished... Could you imagine if Metroid Dread or Kirby and the Forgotten Land ended up being like this?! Now THAT would've made everyone UNLIMITEDLY FURIOUS!!
@@Demeech I mean, it's not like Mario Kart 9 is gonna happen anytime soon since Nintendo is gonna keep milking Mario Kart 8 with the Booster Course tracks. But yeah, I agree
If you want a true sequel to Wii Sports Resort for Switch, I suggest you play Go Vacation: a game that comes with all the content, as well as at least 30 different games AND four separate open world maps to explore. Plus, you can play as a Mii, AND your Miis pop up on the map as “Adventure Buddies” who can join you for whatever games you want!
Hey Demeech great review! It's sad to see that something as big as the next Nintendo sports game can be described as simplistic and boring, all the while being unfinished. As others have said, imagine the backlash there would be if those were the ways to describe a big IP like Mario or Zelda. The Wii games were designed as party games, meaning you could play at your leisure with people in the same room, or alone if needed. Forcing the player to play for hours every week or miss out on rewards makes it a grind. Grinds aren't fun. And with the grind tied to online play just means as soon as Nintendo pulls the plug on the servers, guess what? The biggest part of the game is dead, cause there isn't anything to work towards playing single-player. The wii games at least gave you a skill level tied to tougher opponents. All in all, thanks for the honest look into Nintendo Switch Sports, and keep calling out Nintendo for the crap they are trying to get away with. P.S. I'm honored you took inspiration my experience/description of bowling. It was quite a shock to hear it!
I don't think it's greed. Nintendo doesn't put its developers through crunch. They still need to release games so they release a base package and finish it over time. Simply calling it greedy is naive.
@@sunnyta1990 It's greedy to release it early when it isn't ready. They want to see sales now so they release it before the devs can finish. Also I could go more in depth about what I hate about them but I though I'd leave it at greedy for simplicity ;)
@SHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Demeetch thinks Switch Sports is the worst Nintendo game, what he said is an "opinion". You are clearly unfamiliar with what an "opinion" is so I'll explain it. An opinion is someone's personal preference or belief, which means opinions are sometimes different! Now this might sound scary at first, but I assure you it is not a problem at all! It's actually a really cool part of being a human! Having different opinions means you can compare them with other people and see what they think about a subject. But comparing an opinion first requires you to state your opinion in a respectful way, a task which you clearly struggle with. Do not worry though, I am here to help! The trick to sharing and comparing your opinion is simple. Just don't be a massive ass while doing it! A simple way of accomplishing this would be to avoid undermining someone else's opinion while stating your own. For instance, saying I "worship" Demeetch and act like he is the "son of God" is putting words in my mouth, a practice which is widely considered to be extremely rude. A better way of conveying your opinion would be to simply state your own without childish insults, doing this could even spark an interesting conversation! Another con to being rude while stating your opinion is it instantly makes people not want to hear the rest of what you have to say! So it ends up just being insults for the sake of insults! No intellectual conversations here! The worst part about being an ass while stating your opinion is it might spark a condescending reply from the person you were an ass to! This might not seem so bad, but if you have a weak ego it might seriously get to you! Learn to express your opinion without being a jerk to other people and maybe they will listen to you! If you find you cannot put anything I've said into practice than maybe opinions just might be too much for you! If this occurs I suggest you avoid other opinions all together! For example, if you like Switch Sports (and are incapable of absorbing an opposing opinion) than maybe clicking on a video titled "Nintendo Switch Sports Is The WORST Game Nintendo Has EVER Made" might be a really stupid idea! Just don't click on it and you can continue your blissfully unaware life!
I really appreciate everything Demeech said in this video. I can’t believe how companies like Nintendo and Sony can do whatever shit they want and still be defended blindly by their fans. When EA or Ubisoft do the exact same things, they get massive backlashes, but Nintendo and Sony are seemingly immune to that.
Eh, mostly nintendo gets away with it. People have backlashed sony a lot too to the point where they have had to revert or fix a lot of stuff. Remember the whole ps4 controversy? They listened... What about joycon drift? Nah, lets pretend it doesnt exists.
@@DespyCL Sony is always defended and they're almost never criticized when they release mediocre games like Godfall everyone forgets it in a week but when Nintendo releases a game with less character roster than usual everyone goes CRAZY and I bet that on PlayStation's channel there aren't as many hate comments with one million likes
@@DespyCL Nintendo gets away more often than Sony, I agree with you on that, but Sony also gets “special treatment” in comparison to most gaming companies. Off the top of my head, I remember the PS3 being a complete nightmare of a console to deveolp games for, to the point that most third party games played worse on the PS3 than the Xbox 360, but even so the fans were blaming the third party developers, not Sony.
@@kellygreens6748 The switch is severily underpoweref and yet the fanboys still blames the developers and not nintendo, when you can do so much to optimize a game on a underpowered platform...
The worst thing about this game, in my opinion, is that it has no style, it has no grace. It doesn't even have a funny face bruh. This game is completely sapped of any personality or charm it could've had. It's like a pale imitation of the older Wii Sports games. Even with Miis in this game, it still feels off. It doesn't look fun to play when watching gameplay of it either. TL;DR I'm not buying this shit and you probably shouldn't either Edit: It's also a shame that they're drip-feeding content for the game, pretty much making it dead on arrival. Wii Sports Resort had more content on the day it launched lmao
Nintendo's recent games are weird On one hand we get unfinished cash grabs like Switch Sports and mario Golf/Strikers And on the other hand we get very good games that people ACTUALLY want DLC for, even if paid like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Dread or Mario Party Superstars
@@lumi_2423 Personally, I would really love to see DLC for Mario Party Superstars, even if it's Paid DLC that would even be part of the Switch Online Expansion Pass! Even so, I think people are making too much of a Big Deal of this! At least Nintendo Lets people know that they're adding in more stuff without having to Pay Extra for some of their games, and the mechanics of the games are good enough to keep people's interest up long enough the make enough sales for the resources for said updates!
It’s definitely been a mixed bag, im glad we’re out of the “Wii U port” Switch Era as they’ve run dry of games to port at this point lol but yeah for their original new IPs I’m tired of this finish it later approach I’m glad games liked those you listed existed because if they haven’t this would have been the third year since I haven’t bought a Nintendo Switch game
This video sure delivered! I loved all the tiny details, such as the Super Mario Advance quotes, the fact that you did "Demeech's Generic Fury" when discussing how lifeless (and implicitly, yes, generic) Switch Sports is-- and perhaps my favorite part: "You can't even finish yourself, no chance in hell you can finish me". And you were right about how this would impact Demeech lore lol
While Nintendo certainly took a bad approach to this game and made a lot of questionable if not baffling decisions with it, but to say that Nintendo Switch Sports is the "worst game" Nintendo has ever made, that's quite a far fetched statement, and it sounds like a blunt exaggeration or overreaction. If we're thinking logically here, Nintendo has made games that are objectively worse than Nintendo Switch Sports. An easy target would be Nintendo's bland and predatory mobile games like Mario Kart Tour, though obviously mobile games have always been like that, and they almost never come close to the quality of full console games. So if we're only looking specifically at Nintendo's mainline and officially licensed console games, I'd say a couple of good contenders for the actual WORST game Nintendo has ever made, would be either Wii Music or Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. Wii Music is a baffling mess where nothing works right and it makes you look like an idiot when you're trying to play it, even Shigeru Miyamoto couldn't play the game right during its big frickin E3 presentation, and watching him make a fool out of himself on stage was just hilarious to watch! XD You know what the big difference between Switch Sports and Wii Music is? Switch Sports is actually fun, and it generally works the way it's supposed to, but Wii Music is not fun, and it just doesn't work... at all. As for Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, it's basically just a soulless Mario Party clone, but with literally all of the fun taken out of it. Also its amiibo implementation is some of the worst in any Nintendo game, and the way it basically forces you to keep buying more amiibos just to unlock all of the game's features hidden behind paywalls is just shamelessly predatory, even worse than Skylanders, and almost as bad as the Hyperscan! (Since it uses the same physical lootbox method with amiibo card mystery packs) Both Wii Music and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival are factually FAR worse than Nintendo Switch Sports in every way, so the title of this video is pretty much objectively wrong and misleading. Perhaps it was probably intended to be a hyperbole, but if that's the case, then not everyone would know that when they first look at the title... IDK bout you, but I'd MUCH rather play Nintendo Switch Sports than either of those other games without question!
But you can still have fun in tour without all the microtransactions like I do and although we know everyone would have rather had tours content be on console and be a Mario kart 9, we might not have ninja shy guy. Does switch sports have ninja shy guy, nope. Does switch sports have an emphasis on mii characters no. Because for some reason tour does and they have 20 million mii suits.
I kind of disagree with you with what you said about Wii Music. Wii Music is fun to an extent. It may have needed a less cringy presentation and more features to keep players busy and maybe even some more rhythm game elements. But, the problem is that you could get bored with the game rather quickly. Nintendo Switch Sports is also fun to an extent in that it also can get old rather quickly as well due to the lack of content at launch with only six games, the lack of customization options the fact that you can't unlock those customization options by playing locally, just to name a few. There's no training like in Wii Sports and Wii Sports Club to improve your skills, other variations of certain sports like in Wii Sports Resort, and, unlike Wii Music, Nintendo Switch Sports isn't fully complete at launch like these past games. EDIT 1: Lastly, I feel like Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is worse than both Nintendo Switch Sports and Wii Music because it was basically a cheap cash grab to get people to buy more amiibo figures and amiibo cards combined with Mario Party elements. Like, bruh, you can't even play the game without amiibo, which proves to be consumerism at its finest, unlike Wii Music and Nintendo Switch Sports. EDIT 2: One more thing. Nintendo Switch Sports relies on online play a lot, unlike past games and the former games you've mentioned.
@@snowyvul So you're saying you agree with calling the game "soulless, lazy, no care put into it, embarrassing, baffling, unappealing, deceptive, cash-grab, lifeless, absurd, overpriced, knock-off, bootleg, nothing to do, unfinished, absolute dumpster fire, doo doo bag of fire, T R A S H"? Take your time, I can wait. 😉
SMM and SMM2 had free content updates. But the only content in those updates that felt like they should have been part of the game from the get go was on/off blocks in the 3D-World style. None of the other content was stuff where before the update, we went "huh, that's odd. Why isn't this here?"
That and Splatoon are the only cases where this practice worked. Even Smash Ultimate kinda did these. It was nowhere near as bad as these sport games since there was no paywalls, but its worth mentioning.
The title is NOT an exaggeration. I can see why people disagree with my take that Nintendo Switch Sports is the worst game they ever made. But in my opinion, it is. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is widely considered their worst game. It's terrible. But none of the game is locked behind the Nintendo Switch Online paywall. Paper Mario: Sticker Star had the worst impact on a series and is a HORRIBLE game. But it's clear there was some effort put in, even if everything else in that game stunk. I know it's trendy to say Wii U games are the worst because the Switch is SO AMAZING, but I stand by what I said here.
@@lightninja4795 The games are really good, i had fun with mario Oddysey or Pokemon legends. What I dislike is the way some games are presented, like Switch sports or Aces. Switch online is trash too.
I dont think that Sticker Star is really horrible game. Lower than average, but at least it was interesting in first two hours imho, and music is amazing.
Good thing I haven't bought the game. I CAN'T BELIEVE ALL OF THAT HYPE FROM IT'S ANNOUNCEMENT DIED AFTER THE GAME'S RELEASE!!! I feel so betrayed for actually getting excited for now to be Dumpster Fire of a game that had no care put into it. Thank you for saving me (and my wallet) from planning to purchase an unfinished full priced game.
Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort is my childhood. Switch Sports felt soulless, in my opinion after looking through videos and gameplay. And you’re not kidding because Miis are watered down in terms of customisation in the game but it’s better than not including them. By the way, I’m still disappointed that I can’t throw the bowling ball backwards.
"Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort is my childhood. Switch Sports felt soulless." Same here. Mii's are also (in my opinion) has the best customisable character features to ever exist.
Personally, volleyball and badminton were my favorite games. I never had any problems with my joycon not picking up movements and it was very satisfying to get three "Nice's" in a row to shoot a purple trailed spike down to the corner of your opponents' side. The volleyball games even got quite intense sometimes, once you learned how best to defend from spikes and how to aim your shots. I agree with everything said in the video, excluding the major criticisms of volleyball
God, I miss flying around Wuhu Island. It was so peaceful and serene. If I wanted to unwind while playing Resort, I'd start up the flying game and just let everything dissapear while I let my imagination travel
Agreed. Makes me worried about games like Splatoon 3 because that will possibly be released unfinished as well (yeah ik the other two was but that was when this 'live service' model wasn't out of hand like now)
I wouldn’t worry about splatoon 3, firstly, the free update approach actually WORKS for splatoon, and is probably the reason the game did so well in the first place, and why this free update thing exists at all. Secondly, in what they’ve shown so far I’m almost 100% sure splatoon 3 has more content at launch than splatoon 1 and 2 combined
They said it'll have all the previous weapons at launch, so I have faith. At the very least it'll be better than the splatoon 2 launch, which is the lowest possible bar but still.
I dont think 3 will be as bad as the other games as it seems. I just hope they balances the weapons instead of pumping out random weapons. There is literally no way they could screw the game up...
I dunno, i honestly like how those character models look like from an artistic standpoint. However, you're right in that there's not enough customization options. Other than that, this review is very on point and i never thought i'd be praising a review for its story, lol.
I love how in Wii sports/club, when you get a strike or spare: the announcer is all like “✨ *STRRRrrrrriiiiiikkeeeee!* ✨” and you hear a whole audience clapping and applauding. You feel like the messiah. Then nintendo switch sports, you get a spare or strike and the announcer sounds pleasantly suprised with it’s “strike....!” and it sounds like there’s a few people applauding you. Which is boringly immersive because you’re most likely gonna be playing this game with a few friends. And even if you aren’t, it’s not as exciting as wii sports or club.
Why Demeech’s Switch Sports thumbnail is everything wrong with Demeech’s thumbnails and modern RU-vid - by Zgamer2000: [THE TITLE IS A JOKE. DON’T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.] Already, it’s important to note that the thumbnails are too focused on making as much reaction as possible. The poorly edited faces and large text, ironically, makes them feel more lifeless than a video that just had generic text that says: “Switch Sports is bad” Hmm… didn’t he complain about how “COoopERatE” Switch Sports’ Sportsmates feel? Seems weird that he would begin to adapt the artstyle of modern Mr Incredible memes, doesn’t it? Another thing to note is that Demeech focuses a lot on capitalizing obvious elements of the text that anyone can figure out means something important. I think it would’ve come across the same way if you left them the same capitalization as the rest of the text. “Nintendo Switch Sports is the WORST Nintendo game.” Classic, reactionary title trying to ignore the games of the past that were objectively worse and just using something new as a punching bag to make us think that “modern game bad old game good” “Creative? ❌” If you’re going to criticize a game’s creativity, then do it thoughtfully and concisely, don’t just call it “not creative” without thinking about the actual creativity that went into the game. There might be a good explanation as to why you think this, but the thumbnail hasn’t given me a good reason to watch the video. “Ambitious? ❌” Of course! Why should it be? It’s just Wii Sports, it doesn’t need to be a system pushing game that revolutionizes gaming, it just needs to be a fun time. It’s why Wii Sports Resort is so fondly remembered. So yeah, it isn’t ambitious. Nobody could’ve guessed. “MAJOR Paywalls? ✅” Ok, either you’re lying or you took some part of the game way too seriously. Because the only thing that constitutes as a paywall would be getting the leg-strap to open up Soccer’s shootout mode. In which case, why didn’t you complain about how the original Wii Sports requires a Nunchuck to play Boxing? See how ridiculous this claim is? “*UNFINISHED?* ✅” It’s barely unfinished. The only things that we know are unfinished are Soccer with a leg-strap accessory and Golf being added in. “But what about the leaked sports?” You may ask, and to that I’ll say: they could just be canceled sports. I’m not defending Nintendo to doing this, but it’s really strange that you put such emphasis on this to the point that you made an entire RU-vid Short informing your viewers on stuff that we already know about. Just seriously, it’s not as big of a deal as you’re making it out to be. “The Nintendo Switch introduced plenty of issues not found on consoles such as the GameCube, Wii, and even Wii U.” [The description of the video] It would be an exaggeration to say this wasn’t an issue in the previous eras of consoles, in fact, it’s arguably worse in Wii Sports Club. (You get the game that promises a remake of all 5 classic sports… only 2 come packed with the game at launch. The rest were added in later) Just saying, the Nintendo Switch era isn’t the start of many problems. It’s the formation of growing problems… Of course, this could be a well edited video which does explain actual flaws with the game, (I haven’t actually watched the video) in that case, I’m sorry for criticizing your video so harshly. The point I’m trying to make is that your thumbnails need work, and you could do a much better job at making your viewers watch the video without using clickbait tactics to make us have a certain reaction to something. It just needs to be expressing your opinion, you don’t have to use stuff like this to make your video do better in the algorithm. It’s great if you just keep it simple, and I think it would help your channel. This isn’t trying to say that “Your opinion is worse than mine” or “You just blindly dislike games”, in fact, I don’t even like Switch Sports as much as OG Wii Sports. I’m just to give some helpful advice so that your videos don’t come across as… say, strong, as they do here.
I've been calling out Nintedo's bullsh*t for years, but none of my friends have ever believed me until Switch Sports. Thanks for the video, I'm sorry it had to be made
I don’t know, nintendo forcing you to pay a subscription just to play any of their legacy content and shutting down their previous eshops so that you are no longer are able to legally own old Nintendo games is still worse.
I mean true, but I don't think that qualifies to take the title of worst game from switch sports.. given that it's not a game, it's a garbage business practice
Imagine if nintendo made a mario game but added mario characters as a hidden thing that they don't even show in the trailers, removed all the varied environments instead including bland facilities, made only 3 worlds and added the 4th one as "free dlc" or a "free update" or something and didn't even have full controller support I would hate it
I was really hoping the Wii Sports series would evolve into something similar to Go Vacation especially since Resort seemed like a step in that direction... but we got this steaming heap instead. Go Vacation had amazing potential, the sports were a bit rough but to see that game made for modern hardware with better polished sports would be epic because the concept is so good, same with Fishing Resort.
Video's back up! Hate that the video got copyright claimed, sorry that happened to you. One word to sum up this disgrace of a game: soulless. People say games like Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and Mario Party: The Top 100 are soulless, but Nintendo Switch Sports takes the cake. What baffles me about this game especially was that it was made in house at Nintendo, they actually thought somehow this was a good idea! The heads at this company made one of the most soulless games I've ever seen. It honestly feels insulting to call it even a game, and I would rather play Ultra Smash.
The real reason why it was taken down was because Nintendo tried to hide their guilt. They tried to hide the truth about their shitty Wii Sports wannabe game.
And the best Sequel is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time. I really want Demeech, Matt the Mii and the Bird to face off against Super Shredder and do a whole story line covering all the entire TMNT Arcade Trilogy. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Manhattan Project Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.
@@waluigiwah5724 at least those sequels aren't just copy pasting the first one, turning rtx on, and then removing half of the features like some kind of corporate greed Thanos
I think the absolute worst thing, is that the soccer game with the leg scrap is IMPOSSIBLE on Switch lite since the controllers don't come off, and you can't connect more controllers to it. Meaning you have to buy an ENTIRE new Switch to even play that one sport..
I remember having so much fondness for WII Sports Resort. Exploring the island from the plane was so much fun, and there were so many cool places you could go. If you went southwest, there would be a second, smaller island. There was whale watching (a whale would actually appear), a castle, the windmills, the bowling alley and city, the lagoon, the beach, and my favorite thing to do was to fly through the volcano (that was actually possible). You could even explore the island on foot thanks to the battlefield-style swordfighting mode, though to a slightly more limited degree. Like most successful companies, Nintendo has clearly succumbed to avarice; I'm not going to even bother with Switch Sports.
The line about people trying to invalidate ones opinion for having bought the game, but if one doesn't then there are going to be those who invalidate opinions for emulating (or by extension making a video based off of gameplay footage and other accounts without actually playing said game), lemme say I see that all the freaking time as a fellow content creator so it's honestly refreshing to see when others mention it as well I've done several videos critical on Pokemon, and so regularly I get comments like "but you bought the game so I can't take anything you have to say seriously" and it's like, I got it to cover it as a reviewer...? Like imagine if say a food critic had their review invalidated for no other reason than they paid for the food they didn't like so they could do their job, what were they supposed to do, look in through the window at the other customers and take their best guess at how good it is? So yeah, just wanted to say I very much understand the frustration. I just straight up don't take anyone seriously who says "nothing you say is even worth considering because x", with x being you bought it, you grew up, you're not the target audience, insert whatever convenient 'reason', and I'd recommend to others not to really take anything like that seriously either. If you're covering something as a content creator, well then you're covering something as a content creator, simple as that.
I'm sick of all these Nintendo games being made for online. It takes so much potential away that could be used in a solo mode or just gameplay in general.
I agree so much with what you have to say here. Me and my brother grew up with wii sports resort and absolutely loved it, still play it to this day. When getting switch sports I was incredibly dissapointed. I love everything about resort. The soundtrack, setting, charm, and the sports themslves. Switch sports has 6 in total and to me they were really a one time experience. I think more people should praise wii sports resort just because of how much content is in that game tbh. Besides the visuals, everything about it is better. I wish they ported resort to switch or made an HD remake of it.
Miitopia on the Switch reinvigorate Miis, imho and it would have been amazing if the creation from Miitopia with make up and wig could be have port to other games such as this one. I think it's criminal to limit such an awesome customization tool and improvement over regular to only one game.
Yeah, I’ll be sticking with Just Dance. Even with all their issues, Ubisoft at least cares enough to make high-quality costumes, and dance routines. Not to mention, the treasure trove of Unlimited songs. Y’know, there’s a reason why the Just Dance series will forever be regarded as the best party games of all time! It’s better to have more content than less, even if it means that some modes may be touched less. Who doesn’t want more bang for their buck? 🤔
As someone who personally likes the new characters, it isn’t fair for us who don’t use the online member feature where we can barely get items (or the ones we want). :/ Remember you could customize your character and everything the way you wanted it without having to worry about internet, being a V.I.P. or etc. What happened to that? Not everyone knows how to use the online features… We’re stuck with such basic outfits…. Another thing, the controls are horrible, I just shake my remote like crazy until my character does something, as the moves they tell you to do are too awkward for me. As a pro Controller user, it’s a bit ridiculous how these earlier Switch games forced you only use the Joy-Cons… Also because of these controls, the CPU’s cheat….
You know, some times, I'm an easy man to please. The main things I wanted to see from this latest Wii sports, was a focus on Mii's, and to bring back Wuhu island. Apparently both of those things were too much for Nintendo, as they tried to replace Mii's, and the game takes place in boring mcplace instead of Wuhu island.
@@ArielHal9000 It wasn't much, I just didnt want them to attempt to replace Miis, and bring back wuhu island, not asking for the whole world here, just for those 2 things man -_-.
@@LavaBidoof Miis are there, they're just giving a different option for people that want it. That's like being upset you got Neopolitan ice cream instead of just vanilla, you're getting what you wanted and a bit more for other people. Wuhu island was last seen in Pilotwings 3D, I think they're basically done with it, no need in rehashing stuff from that long ago for the sake of nostolgia.
@@ArielHal9000 I can understand and accept the bit about Wuhu island (Still wish they would bring it back, but that's more cause of my love for Wuhu island in general :P), and I know that mii's are still available in the game (hence why I said attempt to replace, and not just flat out replace),but my problem is that it kinda felt like Nintendo was trying to push Mii's to the side here, in favor of these new avatar things (I don't actually remember what they are called sorry), and even when choosing to play as a mii, it feels off as it definitely feels like that they never took miis into account when making the bodies for the characters, and still used the same body for the miis (then again that may just be me). I guess what really bugs me tho about it is that the wii sports (and games like wii fit, wii play, etc.) feel more like the domain of the Miis, and not just games they cameo in. I can definitely enjoy it when games put miis in a game (example being sonic colors multi player mode, Mario kart, smash bros, etc.), and don't mind that they aren't the center of attention (when it comes to the characters), but that's because those games aren't really their domain, and more of games they appear in/ cameo in. This game feels like it should be a game in the mii's domain, but they are treated more like a side option, a cameo, rather than the ones that populate the game (also as far as I know, you can't really change the CPU's or background characters into miis which makes things kind of weird when you choose to be a mii (but hey maybe you can change it and I just don't know)). I don't wanna be the salty nostalgic guy, I just, really don't want miis to be shafted. (Sorry if I came off as rude or overly defensive, tone of voice can be kinda hard to convey in text :P) (Geez this was alot longer of a reply than I expected)
I just remembered one other thing I wanted from this, being the throwing the bowling ball backward thing. I know it doesn't effect gameplay or anything, but I found way funnier than I should probably have found it, and I think that it was charming. (Just a little sad about that one, not really upset or angry, but tone is hard to convey in text (at least for me))
I haven’t commented on this until now, but this is by far the most fantastic video I’ve seen from this channel. It doesn’t top the Mario Kart 9 video, but the amount of rage and lore in this makes it a close second! I’m not sure when I’ll ever get the chance to say this, but I just recently found this bizarre game called Hyper Pac-Man. It’s a non licensed game that uses Pac-Man characters, and the gameplay is not something I would typically imagine. It’s probably worth covering at least
Well Nintendo now is making pretty much shovelware and yet their fans give them a pat on the back but if other game companies pull the same crap they will not hear the end of it but when it's Nintendo no they don't get the same treatment like other game developers
I find it hypocritical that people STILL!! complain about Nintendo having payed online when both Microsoft and Sony have had it for years! Yet I never see anyone complaining about Xbox live or PS plus. It’s like people complaining about Nintendo because they were the last of the big three to switch to a payed subscription for online play. Does that mean I like having to pay for online on consoles? No!! Of course not! I wish that You didn’t need to pay for online regardless of what console you play on. But I find it annoying when people are really quick to blame Nintendo for having payed online but they never talk about Sony and Microsoft doing the same!
My theory is that Nintendo wants to artificially build a online player base with cosmetics shown in online ,but with miis , players would of course choose the classic stickman and ignore the outfits. But they, that's just a theory, a game theory.
My first experience playing one of Nintendo's "incomplete" games was with ARMS, I had a blast with that game I could play the ARMS grand prix for hours or play online against other people to test my skills. But that was about it, the game lacked content, and even with the updates the game did not receive a new side mode. And because I didn't know any better at the time I also bought Mario Tennis Aces, the game grabbed my attention when I watched the trailers, I tought it was gonna be a blast, and I was surprised to see that the game delivered in that regard. What I wasn't prepared for was to see a repeat of what happened with ARMS, the game was sound and functional it had fun mechanics and a good roster of characters, but it lacked content. All I could do was play the story mode and tournament or online matches because those were the only modes you could play, I tought it was cool that they added new characters with free updates and even new modes. But by the time the game could be considered "complete" I had already lost interest. Now I look at a game like Switch sports and I can see the game being a soulless cash grab that sells just because of brand recognition, I refused to buy the game because I could already tell I would not like it. And now I'm here being super sceptical of Mario Stikers Battle League because I feel like Nintendo is going to keep repeating the same mistake of launching a game with little content just to add it later as an update. It's a shame because, before I could just buy any Nintendo game that grabbed my attention and chances are I would have a blast. Now I have to look at trailers and info of a game to ensure that the game will not be a total let down and even then I'll still have doubts about buying a game. I like to call this the Nintendo consumer paranoia and it has truly made Nintendo lose my respect. Edit: broke the comment into sections to make it more bearable to read
I Love your honesty! Oh my god this is amazing nice sarcasm i was laughing so much. I also completly agree it's just a shame really. Also you really used the music and Sounds effectivly i give you alot of Credit for that.
15:17 Okay this is a great point and I don’t see it talked about AT ALL! Nintendo has seemingly sucked all the life out of their games… a lot of the games themselves are great and full of personality but the menu and UI design in most first party games is super bland and generic… Mario odyssey is a great game but its UI and menus lack the Nintendo charm of previous generations… they even made the menus in the switch port of 3D World look super bland and generic… and that’s not a Nintendo exclusive issue either… A LOT of games releasing today have very bland and uninspired UI and menu designs… most UI designs look like they were made with a font generator and photoshop…
It's a double-edged sword, honestly. On one hand, these modern menus and UIs are excellent in terms of typography and efficiency; they're very easy to understand and navigate through, and they're very optimized, since they don't lag or anything. But I agree that, aesthetically speaking, they're pretty bland.
The new mario golf, I bought it and the menu is literally just a stale picture. It is the most boring menu I have ever seen from any game I have ever played, and is absolute crap. I 100% agree with you, even the strikers demo has a extremely boring title screen.
@@Jdudec367 the font is generic, the sound effects are bland and uninteresting… Odyssey itself is an amazing game full of character and charm… but it’s menus are bland and uninteresting when comparing it to even 3D World on Wii U’s menus…
@@spsaofficalchannel How though? With the cap and Mario changing facial expressions how? The sound effects aren't bland and uninteresting. Oh I disagree, the menus aren't bland and uninteresting at all, seeing Mario's face change when navigating the menu like when you go to the save option is hilarious.
Why. why do we get THIS instead of miis? yes, they exist in there, but everyone wants them to be the focus point, not THOSE avatars. plus, we can't just think they abandoned miis because it was a wii and wii u thing, miitopia exists. also, I know the free updates make you play more since you have to wait until you get all the updates for the full experience. but that's stupid. we moved past that, we want full games with no major updates. Cmon Nintendo, why go back now?
Ngl the only thing that I payed any attention to was you saying “People saying my opinion was invalid cause I emulated it” instead of saying “People saying my opinion is invalid because I pirated it” at the start. Emulation is not an automatic piracy flag. This is my only complaint of the video. Everything else was alright. Excellent break down.
You brought up an interesting idea of buying secondhand games for review so the devs don’t profit. To be honest, I thought you were going to say play a demo but I guess that’s not experiencing the game then. To me though, the moment the retailer buys their stock for a game, the devs have already gotten their money. As long as you don’t buy it directly from Nintendo, they technically don’t get your money. And as long as you convince two people not to buy a game you don’t like (assuming no one does the opposite) I consider that getting your point across.
Wow, this- this was a masterpiece. Best Trash or Treasure epsidoe yet if I had to say. You genuinely sound so infuriated at the state of Modern Nintendo and honestly, I can't blame you. Nintendo Switch Sports has made me feel something I've never felt towards a video game before. The fact that Nintendo had the balls to drop something like this in a CLEARLY unfinished state is jaw-dropping. Guess that old Miyamoto quote is no longer taken into consideration, huh? Also about what you said at 18:55 . I think the main reason people tend to give Nintendo the pass is because they CAN still release great games every now and then. Unlike EA who haven't had a good game in almost 2 decades. I also can't help but feel sorrow to the developers of most Modern Nintendo games. It's clear the devs genuinely try their hardest to make these games good, but get screwed over by the higher ups (*cough* *cough* *Furukawa* *cough* *cough*) who want nothing more than money. With all the recent rumours about the poor working conditions at Nintendo, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is what goes down. I would still say that Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is the worst thing Nintendo has ever made, but Switch Sports is a VERY close second. Great vid, can't wait for more! (Also, PLEASE keep Petey around. T&D does a REALLY good job at voicing him.)
Why does everyone act like iwata was the second coming of Christ? I respect him don't get me wrong but everyone keeps saying how terrible shuntaro furuwaka is and that they want to kill him or something but never bring up the bad things satoru iwata did
I would say animal crossing is better tbh because we did get two adorable issable amiibo out of them. Also because at least amiibo festival is at least a finished game on launch
