Most people who grew up on the Wii are now ages 16-19,So nostalgia is kicking in but GameCube still has more nostalgia now,so Wii will hit it's true nostalgia phase around 2024-25.Wii U will be just like the GameCube by 2030 as in both failed but are&will be remembered fondly. Nostalgia phase for each console: NES:2004-2012 SNES:2010-2017 N64:2014-2020 GameCube:2018-Present Wii:2024-???? Wii U:2030-???? Switch:2036-????
I never understood the hate for the Wii. As soon as I was able to buy one (which wasn’t easy) I had fun with that thing almost every day. From the virtual console, to the fun motion controls, to arguably the best 3D mario game ever made (twice!), and the light gun games, the system slays. Sure, if it was the only system you had during the 7th gen, you were kinda limited in what you could play but, come on, who only had a Wii back in the 2000s?
Also shout out to both of you for bringing it on the video production. I liked the cut to Christmas 2019. That seems pretty advanced and I am impressed you still have video from then, despite what 6 months ago. You must have a lot of storage :) You guys are really killing it now. Great job.
Thanks man! We figure most people don't notice that stuff so it's awesome when someone does. And yes, we have like 5 TB full at this point. But it's nice to be able to grab the footage quick when needed :)
One Wii game that I overlooked myself, which surprisingly ended up being fun, is Battalion Wars 2. Glad I'm ahead and already well stocked on my Wii games, I feel your predictions for the system may be on the spot. BTW, I enjoyed the short clip of the garage sale video game hunt. There's just something satisfactory about watching all the great, cheap finds out there. It would be fun to see more of that on the channel. Cheers, have a great week guys!
Love the Wii and it has a TON of hidden gems! I have also been selling the hell out of Wii Sports too. As soon as it is listed it sells it is crazy. Awesome video guys!
It's easy money breh! And probably going to be short lived but maybe not. It's just crazy to us. That would be like Mario/ Duck Hunt bringing in high $$$. Everyone had it. But we're not complaining :). Cheers!
I'm so glad you mentioned Kirby's Epic Yarn. That game is grear and I never hear anyone talk about it. Some other good cheap games are the Trauma Center series, Rabbids Go Home, Metroid Prime 3 and Other M, and Twilight Princess. In still surprised Twilight Princess is still so cheap.
I think Twilight is getting the sandwich treatment kinda like Brawl. I feel like most folks either want to play it on Game Cube or the Wii U HD remake. Thus it's super tasty low hanging fruit on the Wii :). And yes, Epic Yarn is a beautiful game. I've always thought it was so unique and just has a special charm to it. I'm not even that big of a Kirby fan but absolutely adore that game. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid yeah TP on Wii and Brawl both sold extremely well, and it REALLY helps that TP got a select rerelease, so there's plenty of copies to go around
The wii is pretty much the most perfect console, backwards compatibility, different ways to play the games, an open selection of controllers for a better experience and such an amazing library My fav games: 1. Guitar hero (all of them) 2.the house of the dead overkill 3.the house of the dead return 4.all the titles that starts with wii (wii sports, party, sports resort, play, fit 1 and 2 and others i miss) 5.resident evil 4 wii 6.trauma center second opinion and new blood 7. Mario kart wii 8.super smash bros brawl Take in mind that they are not in an order, i love all of them at the same level, besides thotd titles and guitar hero those are top tier
@@GamingOffTheGrid i can tell you from experience, it is perfect, such a fun game, i remember the first time i metioned the game you guys never played it, is so much fun, it was one of the first titles that was metioned when the wii was launched
I just recently bought a Wii because of this video for £15 pounds - $20 with Super Mario Bros. Me and my girlfriend have been playing it too death and loving it. Great channel and videos!
Great selection of Wii games on the cheap, guys! I just wanted to add something for those who decide to soft mod their Wii to add homebrew. I have never gotten a Wii Motion Plus to work during the install process. You might need the OG Wiimote or the cheap Nyko ones work too.
Great info. I haven't ran into that but also we keep our Wii Motion Plus controllers in the game room and I mod everything in my garage. Cheers to the good ol' Wii!
I'd have to say the two Boom Blox games are what I'd recommend for great, fun games on the cheap. They are kind of like 3D Angry Birds games and you can play single player or multiplayer. I also love Deadly Creatures (a 3D beat em up where you play as a scorpion or tarantula), Fishing Resort (a fishing game with pretty good motion controls and rpg elements designed by Sonic creator Yuji Naka; also, it's an XSeed-published game and pretty much all the Wii games published by XSeed are worth a try), Muramasa, and Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. I have about 180 Wii games, and if I had to trim the collection down, I'd definitely keep the above along with a lot of the first-party or hard-to-find/weird stuff.
Hell ya! We only have the first Boom Blox but love it. It's a great 2 player game. Love Muramasa and Sin and Punishment as well. Never played Deadly Creatures but we'll give it a look :). Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Great Video, and informative. I enjoyed it. I picked up a couple games at a garage sale this past weekend in North Liberty - not A+ titles - Disney Sing It (for my kids), and a Lord of the rings game for $2 each, but, I was happy. However, that happiness waned the rest of the day when most of the other garage sales had individually priced game with ebay prices. I saw NFL Quarterback Club for the Genesis, and they wanted $8. I'm glad I got the Wii games first or I would have been really bummed. I don't know how it is on your side of the state, but over here in Eastern Iowa, City-wide sales are ramping up, FYI. There are some facebook groups - like Garage sales SE Iowa or whatever that list weekly town sales there :) Happy summer hunting and keep up the great content!
Same here man. The sales are starting to pop which is exciting. Hoping to get out the next couple weekends. Dude, we hate it when we find eBay prices at garage sales. Very annoying. Glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully you have some good luck up your way hunting. Cheers
Great video, as I've been refurbing and selling into the Wii space around here locally (Des Moines) as well. VERY hot market right now. However a few corrections/updates about what you've stated. The best "vertical" Wii versions to get are the later revisions RVL-CPU-40 and RVL-CPU-60. Significantly less power draw (Up to 50% less), heat, and fan noise. Most of that coming from the board revision itself and utilizing a smaller 65nm chipset vs the original 90nm of the launch Wii's. Also, the Wii Mini is now VERY viable, as it can be modded via a Bluetooth exploit, allowing for the Homebrew Channel, USB Loader GX, etc. Just did mine last night, super easy and very slick. The hacking/mod community is also very active around the HW side of things, as they have shown you can re-solder back on an SD Card Reader and Component Video Out, along with re-enabling a USB LAN Adapter for networking capabilities. I think it's the best looking of all Wii revisions. Anyways, again great video, and excited to see my notions on the market confirmed. :)
Awesome info and awesome to chat to a fellow person from Des Moines :). We are very technical, a lot of what you said is over our head but the better model numbers is definitely something we will notate. Thanks for watching and again for the info. Cheers!
My favorite console of all times!! I stick whit my idea of a Mario Kart Wii tournament 😄 playing online is still great whit a modded Wii... My recommendation for today would be Red Steel (a lot of split screen fun), Spiderman webs of shadows and Wario Land Shake It... Men I can talk about the Wii all day... If you guys like DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 here is the definitve version, the motion controllers are the best once you get used to them or you can just play whit your GC or classic controller
A lot of folks overlook the original Wii because of how Nintendo was presenting the console to everyone. They were aiming for all the casuals, your kids, parents, grandparents, anyone and everyone who didn't play video games for the most part. While it worked out for them, a lot of "hardcore" gamers immediately jumped ship in favor of Microsoft and a little into the generation, Sony. Not to mention, the console's name and its main controller didn't help either and as a result, a lot of games that were worth checking out on the original Wii from third-party companies sadly didn't sell well. While it may not be my all-time favorite Nintendo console (that would be the original Wii's successor, the Wii U) it's not a bad little game system, despite what others may think: ru-vid.com/group/PLZrviRQSpZme5Set-pE7VBWwIHn859saV
Currently working on 200% Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii. Mirror mode is rough. Nearing the end however. Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Sin and Punishment, Skyward Sword, and The Last Story are all personal favs.
All great games you bring up. Just recently got a copy of the Last Story at a thrift store. Haven't played yet but really looking forward to it. Thanks for watching and cheer to the Nintendo Wii!
Started getting wii stuff again. Amazing system to collect for here in the UK, can get triple A titles for dirt cheap. Btw the Conduit is incredible Enjoyed this video, I've subbed :) 👍
Thanks a ton for watching and the support. The Wii is so awesome to collect for right now. TONS of low hanging fruit. Glad you were able to play Conduit. Very cool and underrated game. Cheers!
I don’t think the Wii will ever hit Gamecube numbers for one reason and one reason only; the system did too well. I think the hidden gems will get pricey (already are for some games) but the big hitters, there is just too many copies out there. The only exception to this rule is Wii Sports. I don’t have an answer for how that got to $30. People are idiots I guess.
My family and I recently found press your luck for the wii , we cant stop playing it such a fun family game. Dont listen to what other people say even if it's called shovelware or has bad review it can be a great game
I’ve had my wii that I softmodded years ago. Hardly play it these days but at the time I used to play it quite a bit. Loved Mario galaxy, Mario kart, a boy and his blob (hidden gem) and donkey Kong country returns was awesome but friggen hard. Component cable is a must and they r so cheap
Thanks for the heads up guys, just bought resident evil 4 and conduit for thr wii, hopefully prices don't change too much in the next couple weeks, get the rest of what you mentioned
I feel like the rising price is directly related to the pandemic and the inability to get a Switch for a lot of people. Because people can't get a switch and the Wii-stalgia is setting in. (I started writing this comment before you guys touched on this in the video but I'm too far into it now to stop) The Wii is a fantastic system that hasn't really died out since it's release unlike other consoles.
Very true! It will be interesting to see if the market holds or drops back down when things go back to normal, if they ever do. It's still not our of reach but if it continues trending they way it's going it will be Game Cube crazy lol. Thanks for watching man and have a great week. Cheers!
@@Wes36Man Nintendo needs to lower their price for the switch.. I have a xbox, and the switch (even tho it's for Nintendo games) is stupid at $300? $240 wouldn't be too bad and then $140 for the lite
Do you think the WII will be the last console where new shovelware games could be as cheap as $4.99 new? lol. My favorite of those were the game show titles. Great for couch co-op. Price is right, Family Feud, Press Your Luck, etc. Awesome as always gentlemen.
Probably. The Switch definitely has some shovelware but not to the extent and low price like the Wii. I remember finding games everywhere, kohls, doller tree, CVS etc lol!
Gamestop has a buy 2 get 2 free sale on right now so I just purchased 8 Wii games for $12. Lot of crap on the Wii but there is a lot of great and so bad that it is fun games. Great video!
I found a Wii at a CCA (its like a goodwill type place near me) inbox complete for 30 bucks. Went out and snatched up all the gems as fast as i could. Got games like Pandoras Tower, Last Story, Xenoblade chronicles, Muramasa, No More Heroes 1&2, MadWorld and the first party games.
Even broken games for the Wii are going insane! I've sold a non reading already resurfaced Mario kart Wii for 20 bucks! Insane what's going on. Great time to be a reseller 💪👍
Hell yes it is! So many good deals out there too for the Wii. Also, PS3 and 360 around here are being sold left and right super cheap. Fun times :). Cheers!
The only thing I use my Wii for is to play Gamecube games. I play my Wii games on my WiiU because that's what I have my motion + synched to. I play most of the WiiU games as their Switch upgrades. It's possible I'm doing this wrong.
No right or wrong way. It's what ever works for you. The Wii U does a great job w/ Wii games. Stay tuned though for our Wii U vid :). Thanks for watching. Cheers!
First gen Gamecube has a digital output so GC looks better than wii , for wii games wii has 280p and 480i output wiiu don’t is better to play wii games on the original console ,and the wiiu no all games are on switch now so you still need a wiiu
Another great place to buy wii games are at gamestop. They're cheap and easy to find. I was able to get Wario ware smooth moves and No More Heroes for 15 dollars. Also great video guys.
Found a backwards compatible one at a PawnShop for 60. Came with all the wires and a Wii remote. Had to buy a Nunchuck & Classic Controller off eBay though. Next buy on the list is a GameCube remote & Memory Card. Process but it’s working thus far; prices are definitely up though.
Thanks gents for the great info -- helpful to this dad who's wanting to add some good, fun games for a reasonable price to keep the family on the happy trail while on lockdown. One kindly meant suggestion -- keep in mind you'll have newbies viewing your channel, like me, who won't be familiar with terms like "shovelware." I wasn't -- had to look it up. Subscribed.
Awesome man! Thanks for the watch and support. The Wii has so much to offer and now is the time. The market is starting to rise. Get what you want while you can. Cheers!
I just picked up a wii on marketplace for only $40! And it came with like 5 games including resident evil 4 and all the wii sports and wii resorts games, and it had 3 wii remotes 3 num chucks and the wii fit board and both the wii fit games! Never really played the wii back when it came out but I couldn’t pass this one up for how cheap it was, and it is a gen 1 edition one that can play GameCube games and has slots to plug 4 GameCube controllers into it too!
Great video! I just purchased a wii with Mario Kart, wii play and a wheel for $65. Waiting for a second controller to come in before I fire it up and play with my son.
Great video. Wii sports. The bowling hands down memories with my mom playing back in the day. Also new memory wyatt breaking the tv cause I forgot to strap him 😂😂
LOL!!!! Gotta strap the little fella up. That's awesome man. I'm sure it sucked at the time but those are type of memories you'll always look back at and smile. That's what gaming w/ others is all about. Have a great week dude. Cheers!
Literally ONLY have the Wii Mini for, as you said, the collection. Wii Classic is a good controller--but I definitely like the Pro, or, as you show, better yet, the Wavebird from the Gamecube era. Also, it's thanks to YOU guys that we tracked down those Nyko guns. lol That's what I keep telling people about the Wii going up in price--that age bracket that grew up with the system hitting that age where it's becoming nostalgic for them and them being at a point in life with disposable income. Hell, I think this mimics a Polo to you guys. lol Bought Brave and the Bold because of your recommendation too! Man, we've sunk soooo much time into Smash Brawl! Overlooked? Super Paper Mario on the Wii is a really great game--such a fun 2D AND 3D platformer with RPG elements--I highly recommend it. Totally not a stout drinker in the summer here--that's why we had to take home so much of the brews BK brought us at MoGameCon--it's too hot for them!
Lots of good ideas come from polos :)! Cheers to the Wii and all it's goodness! And YES, Super Paper Mario is fantastic! Love the art style in that game.
The Wii is 14 years old😳 Let’s not forget the emulators on Wii run in 240p and looks fantastic on a crt via rgb Should be an important console in everyone’s collection Honestly think when this lockdown is over the price will drop dramatically again Smooth moves is awesome Rhythm Heaven fever is worth checking out too
Oh yes! We try keeping the hacking element on the down low in the actual videos but it is super easy to hack and runs the roms great. Also, I think you are spot on about the price. I think we are merely riding the COVID wave :). So, sell sell sell. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
The Wii is fun as hell with arcade rail shooters. There's a lot of those games. RE4 on the wii is one of my favorite versions :D I really like the Wii even if there is a lot of shovelware on it.
Can't believe the Wii is gonna have its 15th anniversary this year. My Wii's disc drive from my childhood broke and I bought another console a few years back for an insane price of £10. Might buy an NTSC-J console before the value rises even more. Shoutout to all you homebrewers out there in 2021.
Awesome that you were able to get another for that price. Hell of a deal. It's wild how the market on some of the games is spiking. Huge install base but it's got the Nintendo name so you know how that goes :). Thanks a ton for watching! Cheers!
I find that of what would be consider "Shovel Ware" on the system can actually be some cheap quick fun and laughs. Did you plan on wearing that Shovel Knight shirt when talking about a system with a lot of Shovel Ware? lol
I need to learn more about Shovel Knight, but I'm pretty sure it's for Switch. I don't own a Switch, but I did get Rocket Knight Adventures recently, and it's just as awesome as I remembered, maybe even moreso!
Love the Nintendo Wii and you can get online still with WiiMifii it's a private dns server, hackers have gotten most games up and running because they extracted the original Nintendo Wifi connection to there computers, mostly people play Mario Kart Wii and Call of duty
We've heard you can still do online with it which is cool. We also have all the Wii Ware games that we would ever have wanted :). Thanks for watching man. Cheers!
B-Bomb is a great stout, absolutely can't go wrong with it. Nintendo collecting is and had always been expensive so my Wii collection is small, only about 40 games but I've got probably 6 Wiis so I need to sell a few off and grab some more games for it.
It was a damn good brew for sure. The Wii is pretty fun to collect for still. Prices haven't got to crazy yet. I'm sure they will though at some point. Have you hacked your Wii by chance? It does really well emulating the older stuff. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Oh, for sure, I modded my original day-one Wii (sent to Nintendo to have the laser upgraded for dual layer discs back in the day) about a year ago. I'd been modding ogxboxes before that and I'm modding a Wii for my wife's cousin this week. Recently modded up a 3ds as well and set up an R4 card for a 2ds. Working on two arcade pads from ogxbox controller hacks for my brother in law for Christmas too, good times tweaking video game consoles.
Maaan the wii with component cables looks amazing on my 1080p TV I was surprised, I have it loaded with emulators and roms as well cant decide if I like it on CRT or my flatscreen more
Wii collector from 2009. Decalgirl has some really nice skins if you want to make your Wii console look a bit nicer. I've played a Wii Mini and its actually not bad, but I do agree the 1st gen is the best, 2and gen Family edition is nice just no GC. Mini is for collectors or people who just want to play games only.
I personally don't love the Wii, but it's a great system. The reason I love and hate the wii are for the same reasons, those damn motion controls. Do you know how hard it is to drink a beer while it looks like you're having a seizure with the Wiimote?
LMFAO! For the most part, we don't love the motion controls either. There are a few games that nail it though. It's just such a versatile console. That's why we love it.
Excitebots. It's fast and crazy as hell. Also Mario Super Sluggers. It's a baseball game with options with RpG elements. Sports Mix and Fortune Street. I think Pandoras Tower got overlooked. Also Rygar.
We don't have Excitebots but we do have Super Sluggers :). For some reason we've been finding a lot of copies of Sluggers lately. People don't know what they are throwing out I guess lol. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Damn. Good thing is you can still snag them out in the wild for a decent price. Market is rising though so get on it sooner than later. Thanks a ton for watching. Cheers!
Hi guys just subsribed to the channel, Just wanted to point out the Mario 25th Anniversary Red Edition is also backwards compatible thats the one I have. Some of the first edition Black one also are. If they are in box still you can check by skew number. Great Vid guys I saw this one coming with Wii just like I did with Xbox couple years ago.
Very true! We should have mentioned that. The logo placement is the tell but there are more color variants than white that fit the bill. This is what we get for not scripting anything. We do everything on the fly lol! Thanks a ton for watching and cheers to the Wii!
I would definitely buy a Nintendo Wii to be able to play Gamecube games on high definition!!!! (BTW I think that there is a wii controller also, apart from the motion sensor controls, to make our lives easier. I never had a Wii so I don't know if this is the case haha)
Wii games for me are Wii sports Wii resort Wii play Mario kart wii New super mario bros wii Super mario galaxy 1,2 And for gamecube are Mario kart double dash Super mario bros melee Super mario sunshine Mario party 4,5,6,7 Zelda wind waker Luigi's mansion Donkey konga 1,2 The simpsons hit and run Crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex Mario superstar baseball Sonic heroes Super mario strikers Zelda ocarina of time master quest Def jam fight for ny Donkey kong jungle beat Nfl street 1,2 And I already have the house of the dead 1,2 return for wii
Some fantastic games on the Wii and agree totally on the light gun genre for the Wii it’s awesome I started to seriously collect for the Wii last year picking games up fo £1 and under got some brilliant titles really loved batman the brave and the bold and punchout A lot of the games your loving are Sega , boys good to Hear 😂😂😂 Sorry but I just don’t get Kirby I can’t stand that pink fookin blob 😂😂😂 Great video guys 🍺
LOL! We typically aren't big Kirby fans but Epic Yarn is so unique. Brave and the Bold is tons of fun! We were so happy when we found that. We like SEGA a lot more than we let on :)! House of the Dead is one of our favorite franchises of all time. You ever beat HOTD: Overkill? One of the funniest, most bizarre games around lol. Cheers man!
Gaming Off The Grid house of the dead is one of my favs, zombies guns and sega what’s not to love yeah house of the dead overkill is superb on the wii really liked the directors cut in 3D also on the PS3
I've been on a Wii "lightgun" buying kick lately, didn't realize how fucking many there are out there! Wii is basically my way of playing these on a non CRT TV. Only have the gun peripheral that you slot the Wiimote into, didn't realize there were actually lightguns you could get til I saw it on this video! That perfect shot is definately making it's way to my gameroom at some point. Thanks for the informative video boys, keep up the good shit! Cheers from Australia. Oh, just checked, it's just another gun peripheral to slot a Wiimote into. Well shit.
I used to have wii when I was little, i giveaway to my former friend. Still have xbox original, ps2, and n64 at my house( my childhood memory of my life
I found a Nintendo wii original for 10 dollars with everything one of the best deals I found was happy cause I could play my gamecube games without having to buy a gamecube system
You'll find one man. Keep an eye on Facebook market place and craigslist. One will pop up sooner or later. With retro gaming stuff patience is a virtue.
Both are great. Really depends on if you want the Game Cube backward comparability. If so gotta go Wii. If that is a non issue the Wii U can do the rest and do it very well. Cheers!
I got the Wii U, the Wii U is backwards compatible with original Wii games just bought the Wii remote' Wii Nunchuk and and Wii classic controller pro yesterday
The Wii U is kickass! Great time to buy one too because the market is slowly on the rise. Only drawback vs the Wii is the Wii isn't backwards compatible with Game Cube. But overall it's a great value. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
My little brother and I were playing super smash on the wii and I won and he got so angry dat he broke the Controller but he got grounded haha and cheers to my Favourite and in my opinion the greatest RU-vid channel ever gaming off the grid from jaxon
We've used it a couple times when we've taken the Wii to charity events etc and it's worked fine. For the price I'd say it's worth it. We haven't done a side by side with any other HDMI converters though so it might not be the best. But we know it gets the job done. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid hey guys, thanks for the response! We used the converter all weekend with the Wii and played Wii all weekend and it worked like a dream. I missed the Wii, it might be my favorite console of all time.
I already have it... It was sitting in my aunt's closet and she just gave it to me today. I need to buy a new cord for it though so I wanna know about it before I buy it
Going out to buy an AC adapter and some AV cables for a spare Wii that I have sitting here then giving it to my neices. I'm keeping my version 1 to "not hack" 😉
The true reason Wii is going up because the switch refuses to do simple motion control games and the Wii U/motion plus came too late in the fad that people moved on before the true potential of the console came into form.
I'm looking for someone to mod mine. My mom won it and never used it so its basically brand new. And metroid the other M has a bad rap but I find that game to be hella fun, cross between original and prime. Yea the story and narration are a little off but its still a fun game
The Sky crawlers is fun for Ace Combat Fans, Wii Party is almost better than Mario Party, and Flight Control is a wiiware mobile Port that is so zany with 4 people
Wes what in your opinion is the best version of Resident Evil 4? Not a loaded question, I just respect your opinions so I want to make sure I have it in my collection. Thanks!
Man I have always liked the Game Cube or PS2 version. A lot of folks rave about the Wii version but the motion controls aren’t for me. Also keep in mind I haven’t played the PS4 release. My guess is that it’s really good. Not the best answer but that’s what I got lol. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid thanks for the feedback Wes. Recently I found out that you can use the Gamecube controller on the Wii version but if you have the Gamecube version then I can’t think of a reason why you would want to play the Wii version unless you wanted to the accuracy & feel from the motion controls. John Linneman from Digital Foundry said his favorite was also the Gamecube version so that’s 2 people I respect telling me the same thing. FYI John said something along the lines that the PS4 version is good but doesn’t really surpass than the Nintendo versions.
