To each their own… not saying the roadster looks better but I certainly want it over the coupe. Granted it would be a second sports car in my collection so I really want the functionality of the roadster and I also like the way it looks.
Fantastic analysis. We are speaking the same language when looking at the timeless lines on the 350. It’s why I keep urging current owners to stop modifying their cars. They are aging extremely well.
370z owner... That's why mine stays stock and "boring" looking. Other than the FI carbon fiber exhaust and z1 2-piece rotors and window light window tint, my car looks stock/clean with the sport package wheels. It's also blue, which there was only 199 in midnight blue made, so it grabs looks even though it's one of those cars that's dismissed by everyone as "not good enough", but they keep looking!
I have a 03 350z de, and the only mods i plan is to have stock looking parts. If i put a hood on, i want it to be based on a stock one, same with bumpers and fenders too, with headlights from an 08ish model. Everything else is just me making improvements to interior and performance, primarily suspension.
@@lilmancc35 Bingo! Do it the right way. Nothing is worse than seeing an older car that was "once" nice, then got hacked to $hit. Also, you really just don't want to be a target, and by that I mean, the more you pursue the "Please NOTICE ME" modifications, the more you attract the wrong attention. And really, when people see a CLEAN older Rx7 or Supra, or 3000gt, it just says everything. I hope to see a few more clean Z's out there. Sadly most just have the same stupid crap done to them, all non functional cheap crap slapped on. It's like dudes that get tats but cannot fight, and guys that have beards but cannot change a car tire lol. Lets be real: Unless you drop serious coin into the Z, it's not going to win many races, but you can make it handle a little better, and do a few things to improve it's livability. I just keep mine clean/ceramic coated, picked a classy exhaust from fast intentions (carbon fiber mufflers), better front swaybar fixed the steering/turn in/understeer dynamics; 2-piece z1 rotors eliminated needing to mess around with the brakes, intakes helped with the sound of the motor.... I did sound deadening and a much better stereo. It'll never be a lexus/bmw quiet on the road, but it's great for what it is.
@@07wrxtr1 im probably gonna redo my stereo because the amp over heats, but im gonna add in another 10 in the spare tire, and swap the old one out with another glove box, but my car gets alot of attention around here because i have 1 of the only 3 around that is drove often, and im the only one with the skill to do anything in it, so in other words, me and my car speaks for our selves. We dont need to be loud or flashy, because we can get it done way easier. Also i agree. I love wide body kits and stuff, but as these cars get older, that flashyness just doesn't cut it anymore.
I don’t want to say one is better than the other because the 350Z holds a special place in my heart. The DE was the first one I could afford before i started to upgrade in Z’s, but they’re both amazing cars. The 350 is more raw and the 370z is simply an upgrade in comfort. I love my 2019 Nismo Z
I don't like the back of the 370 roadster. That bubble hump looks off. I far prefer the cleaner lines of the 350 roadster. I prefer the 370 coupe over the 350 coupe, though.
Id like the 350z more if the roofline wasnt looking like a sloping speed hump. The 370z has this nice roofline shape that resembles the earlier 240z cars. The side profile of the 370z really gives it that resemblance of its past z cars and has a great look to them.
Both cars are so beautiful. I've owned both and I still stop and stare at some of my old pics of my 350z. I will say the lines of the 370z are better in person in 3d. And the driving experience makes it worth over the 350 to me. But will always love them both
I had a 350z, currently drive a 370 and I agree with everything you said but I came from an untuned DE so the jump was pretty drastic. But I still look at pics of my old 350 too.
Owned a 260,280 and have kept a 2008 350z. I think all Zs are beautiful. On the used market they can offer excellent value and smiles/mile just like the original 240.
I like both but I am biased in favor of the 370, having bough a 2019 379Z sport coupe 6MT a few years sgo. I agree that the best view is the 3/4 rear view. Mine is Magnetic black with a ceramic coating that looks like a sinister animal waiting to pounce.
The 370Z Nismo pack completely transforms the car for me. Not only does it look more wide and aggressive but it makes the car look so much more modern as well. I’d take a 370z Nismo over a 400z in a heartbeat.
As a Juke owner, I’d love to see what you think of that design. It was obviously very controversial when it debuted, but I’ve actually grown to appreciate it a lot. For example, I think the OG Juke design looks better than the Kicks. What do you think? Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I really like the styling of the Juke. It’s definitely distinctive and the separated headlights and turn signals are not an oddity anymore. To me, especially thanks to the wide wheel arches, the Juke is squat and tall, but not ungainly. (Like the Ford Ecosport.) It seems athletic to me, kind of like a bulldog. And the turn signals on the hood actually remind me of an old Corvette. Hear me out! Sitting in the driver’s seat of an old Vette, the front wheel arches were sharply pointed and stuck up when looking out. The turn signals in the OG Juke actually end up doing kinda the same thing. But maybe that’s just me. Haha.
idk bout you, but the best thing of humanity was their vision to see the best things within the ugly. Juke's definitely not in my taste, but that quite make the car stands out for me.
My mom has one, and i kind of like it. The main thing that i dislike it is the complicated bumpers, and lights. If they where a little less showy, id like i a lot more.
@@sticktothefacts8905 You mean like literally every other SUV and crossover? I’m sure the Juke’s turbo engine was a big draw too. After all, we all know how much senior citizens love to zoom and hoon.
@@stevenjames1138 It was something commented to me by a senior citizen whilst working in the car industry. It barely counts as a SUV or crossover being the baby size in the range and is very well priced ie fits the demographic well. Oh and the turbo engine you talk about, all 2021 Nissan Juke models in Australia use a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 84kW of power and 180Nm of torque. Its a real zoom zoom lol
The designer of the 370z was inspired by the shark. Look at the profile of the head and tail lights, and the door handle. The shark fin theme jumps out.
I strive to keep my 350z as stock as possible. I altered the exhaust and lowered it about 0.68 inches to remove some of the wheel gap. I don’t like when people camber them and do all the same cookie cutter mods
My 350z is garage kept with only 80k miles. I'm gonna keep it with low miles and sell it later when they become rare lol. People be asking for 15k for Z's rn lol.
People from Europe will probably spend fortunes on that just for importing them in the future. Especially with the eco changes from petrol to electrical cars. These things will get more rare and worthy. (More than in the US probably)
Having a 370z nismo myself I would say it’s by far my favorite of the bunch but all choices Are good it’s just a matter of what someone finds nicer between the models
Nismo 0659 350z owner here, loved hearing your take on the Z chassis. Our 350’s are definitely timeless, and getting up there with clean 240 chassis prices. Even our Nismo’s are starting to sell for Evo prices which is crazy! I loves these cars and will forever hold onto my nismo, and hopefully when Nissan drops it, bring home a New Nismo Z!
Amazing video mate, I love what you mentioned about “in person “ as opposed to looking at it in a picture. They are a similar looking car most people would confuse it for the same one until you actually see one….. they surprisingly look COMPLETLEY DIFFERNT in person
The longer wheelbase of the 350 makes for a longer door , therefore it can be difficult to get in and out in tight spaces. I noticed this right away when getting in my friends 370, a shorter door is easier to get in and out .
To me personally i like the looks of the 350z but it just looks dated compared to the 370z. The 370z takes the looks of the 350z and just improved on it overall imo.
Honestly I think the 350z took a lot of inspiration from the Toyota Celica. If you look at the 350z's design from the exterior to the cabin, you can see a lot if similarities to the Celica.
I actually agreed with Bambi 100% on all of the comparisons between the 350z and 370z. And comparing the 2020 Nissan 370z Nismo vs the the All New Nissan Z, I still think I’d choose the 370z Nismo. Anyway, nice review on the design comparisons!
I said before and I'll say it again the 350Z is a Timeless Beauty !! Hands Down ."A MILF that only get better as she ages. " That why I just bought an absoulute peach of a Model for 25K USD (Yes not a mis-printI) Where I live it's the most expensive place on the plant to owne any car.!!.............I do not like 370 light styling design at all. As for the new 2022/23 Z Just forget it completely, it will go down as a complete miss!!...........Was it designed by Microsoft?
370z hands down especially in stock form. Design for 350z is more clean and has distinctive elements from the original Z but it just looks too anemic for a sports car. I’m no car designer so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt but let’s let time takes its course and see if 350z’s design becomes more appreciated than 370z as it’s more “timeless”
“It’s not like they took an already existing car and slapped a spoiler on it” Wait what was that noise? Oh it’s just Acura over there screaming from that burn
Interesting, our opinions are definitely very far off, i find the 370z to just be a more perfected version of the 350z. I find the 350 lines to be very bland, and the tailights are my least favorite thing on the car tbh. I just see way more aggresion in the 370 with the sharp lines mixed in with the roundness. I also definitely prefer the 350z nismo i think it needed the added aero to boost the aggression. And the white 370z nismo that you show most of the time is the v2 which in my opinion doesnt even hold a candle to the v1 style. But thats just my opionion and im always happy to know everyone has their own taste. ~370z v1 nismo owner
I can't decide which I prefer. It's 50/50 for me. The nicer elements of each design integrated into a single package for the best of all worlds design would be ideal, but it's rare to have your cake and eat it in the automotive world.
350z is so much better, it was a high tide point for the whole Nissan team (thanks Ajay) Awesome details are door mirrors and small details like indicator stalks etc, every detail was agonized over. 370 was different for the sake of being something new. It is definitely not bad but not quite as clean as the 350Z
Just bought a 2021 370z after owning one previously. The Salesman at Nissan told me his boss just bought one and garaged it. The 400z doesn’t really appeal to me.
Great analysis! When I first saw the 350z , I got to have it and I did, because of the clean timeless design. I still got it since 2003 in Daytona Blue and I’ll keep it. I also got an S30 Datsun 78’ ,because of the same. However I didn’t liked the 370Z.
I had an 04 Daytona Blue 350 for years and finally stepped up to a 370z. The performance difference is pretty drastic. The 370z was designed to be better than the 350 in every metric. They also look incredibly similar, it's surprising to like one and not the other.
When the 350 first came out it looked too radical for me, but after hours of Need for speed Underground I knew I wanted one. When the 370 came they ruined not just the head and tail lights but the profile when they shortened it.
You should definitely check out the 2014 nismos then, they did a better job on updating there and giving it also a two tone color. I have one and I love it, also love the 350z as well. Have one too and I love it as well
Nismo Z v2 is still the champ I love how it rev’s, NA motor, looks, Recaro seats tachometer dead smack in the middle of the dash.Tribute to the late Paul Walker “I almost had you” and that’s good enough for me🤘✊to the first and last Z . No Turbo
I like the 370z rear better. I feel like the 350z just has a boring bumper. Maybe it’s because mines just a convertible and I’m missing the whole hatchback but that’s just me.
I really enjoyed this video over lunch, kudos! For me, it's the 350Z. In large part due to NFS Underground 2 but over the years, the 350Z has continued to make me stop what I'm doing and watch it go by with admiration. I can't wait to own one in future.
How is it a rip off? It's how it was designed lmao. People putting widebodys themselves are rip offs lol The only naturally wide hips that come to mind in the automotive world are Porsches, Dually Trucks, and Z's
Literally everything you said made me like the 370Z even more. Timeless a beautiful thing, but without daring. Timeless is safe, Daring reflects the moment.
I own 3 of the older chassis Z's and I still Prefer my 76 S30 and my 81 S130 Turbo and 96 Slicktop Z32 body lines over the the newer Z33 and Z34 models. They were just curvy and sexier to me. The New Z is a call back to those 3 70-90 year era models and for good reason. Nissan is on the right track now.
I could wax on about these two forever. I like how the 350z has the essence of a Z but nothing more. It looks like a Z in style and proportion but without any blatant callbacks to old cars. The 350 still looks modern, and not retro modern. I also think it looks alittle cleaner and more pure. The 370z is beautiful too, but you can see the retro modern influences creeping into its shape with the 240z style canopy roof which took some getting used to at first but overall I think it works. What I don’t much like are the further enlarged wheel arches and bigger rear end make which make it slightly chubby looking. The pre facelift front end suited it better before it was changed in 2013 too. The only thing I’d change about the 350z are the reverse/indicator lights that are below the taillights. They were absent in the concept and it looked much cleaner. Now that the new 23’ Z34 is coming out I think the 370 still looks good but I prefer how the new car does slim down the wheel arches and tidied up the back end in a more compact/clean way. The 240z references are 10 times more blatant now with much of the styling referring to the original which I had mixed feelings about since up until the 370z most Z’s always had a forward thinking design that wasn’t so “retro” but I’m happy it’s being made, and in many ways the 240’s lines are timeless.
the 370z rear fenders are the same for the nismo an regular it just looks wider than the normal ...i got my 370 with 140k clean title no problems an a nismo body kit for 8.5....i couldnt even find a nice 350 that cheap..sooooo happy i got it i love it more than my s2k
370z side and back view looks amazing, specially with a spoiler on the back. But 350z looks it's age and we all love a car that looks abit older. So it's a tough one but I think I'd go with a 370z.
Im keeping my 2008 350z Nismo for a very long time. The 370 was the start of Nissan screwing up the Z car, and lets not even talk about the ‘400’ Z. The 350z was an evolution of the Z car line and not some retro mess of the 370z and the gauges in the 370 are a hot mess. Nissan did NOT need to go the retro theme like all other manufacturers were doing at the time the 370 was released.
Anyways as someone who recently bought a clean, mechanically sound, accident free, clean title 350z track edition for 700 usd. I’m stoked you picked the 350z.
What do you mean the 370z looks more bubbly? The 350z looks chubby, it could lose a few pounds for sure. The 370z is far more aggressive, body lines are far more refined and shaped. The 350z just looks like a big bubble with no definition. Also I have no idea what you mean by timeless, the 350z looks very dated driving amongst newer cars in traffic. The sharp lights on the 370z along with the defined bodywork keep it looking modern.
@@Sparks_350gt okay? The person making the video is also bias, there is nothing objective in saying the 370z is better looking than the 350z or vice versa.
love both cars to death but i just love the style of the 350z the 370 just looks a little to modern for me, however it is still a beautiful car in its own right.
Glad you did this video man, I have an 08 350 with the raised hood. I have always loved that side view just behind the rear in how the line just flows where the 370 looked like a big baby shoe on wheels to me (no shade)! Aside from changing my sound system I had a corner sub put in to keep all of my hatch space but my favorite thing was replacing the reflectors in the bumper with switchback turn signals/running lights!!!
As a biased z33 owner, it's just effin gorgeous. Timeless. The 370 is a lovely looking car too but the styling is too busy. The 350 is just so smooth and clean. Fk is it sexy.
I think the wheels are important here too. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite body. Both have their advantages. A top send 350 in brickyard has always been one of my favorites. 370 definitely got the better wheels.
Honestly the 370z Nismo is the one for me, the 350 always looked a bit melted in my eye. If I had to change two things on the 370z the first would be round off the peak of the roof so it was the same as the 350 and the other would be changing slope of the roof going to the trunk. Whenever the car was parked in specific angles (see 4:11 ) It always looked liked the roof line never ends.
You mentioned the nismo 370z as your preference yet you'd wanna make its roofline look a bit similar to the 350. So in essence you like the 350 more. The way you explained it seemed pretty silly. The roofline and side profile of the 370z really reminded me of the older z's of that era n just looked so sportier and edgier. Looks miles better that slopy speedhump looking 350.
