The 350z was alwaysy dream car, finally bought it 4 months ago. Would never trade it for anything. What a machine.

Why is progress always measured by track times? The Supra is typical of modern cars. Sanitised, disconnected, sounds crap, too much fakery (fake engine sounds - who bloody started this?!), style over substance and a less refined engine (4cyl turbo). For me, I don't care how much quicker it is. Vicki looks bored in the Supra. It's all about how the car makes you feel. Ask yourself this - what's the favourite car you've owned and why? I’m so pleased with this review as a massive fan of the Z33, however I can’t help but think what the result would have been had Fifth Gear used a Track spec (in the UK “GT Spec”) model equipped with the RAYS alloys and the Brembo brake setup. It probably would have been down by around only 2 seconds.

Great video! I love my 06 350z, and It just doesn't feel like a 17 year old car! I've also got a 91 Miata, and the 350z feels pretty luxurious in comparison! Especially with the Bluetooth I've installed and the sound system is pretty good. Had mine for almost 4 years now and absolutely love it! Don't see myself selling anytime soon, might just even buy another!!

I mean, Vicky is a heck of a presenter, and is what saves Fifth Gear after they stopped with Plato and Tiff. I can listen to her talk and review all day everyday. She should just start her own RU-vid channel and go full online and go where she belongs, to tropical weather and exotic cars! I love her style of reviewing

Always preffer feel over speed. Even if its a bit slower Z is much better for actual driving experience. Its sad that automakers are killing any proper sensations from driving across the board

I bought a new 350Z in 2006. It was the year of the mid-cycle refresh so LED taillights, bi-xenon headlights were first offered that year. I special ordered mine to get it with an MT and my preferred options: Brembo brakes, staggered GT wheels, leather etc. Loved it so very much but had to sell out of necessity after 4 years for less than it is worth today. I ordered a new M4 with MT in 2017 (also a mid-cycle refresh) and still own and love it, and yet I miss my Z every day.

Tiff Needell created fifth gear and somebody thought it was a good idea to sack him. Tiff Needell and Jason Plato recreated something we had seen only in best motoring international. Close racing head to head against the latest models. Any youtuber can film a trackday these days. In my opinion it was a relatively myopic strategy to fire Tiff. Fifth gear can not win back the time they lost out to youtube when they decided to go mainstream . I have already subscribed to your channel once, only to discover for my disappointment that fifth gear had uploaded series with missing episodes.

That 350z is an import from Japan, so not the GT Uk spec that was sold here. The Uk car has cruse control and other goodies, including Larger Brembo Brakes.

I love this show, it's now 2022 but they can keep the vibes like in the 90's

There was many mentions of the 350s brakes not being strong enough, but no mention of the fact the car driven was an import on the smaller wheels and more to the point missing the Brembo brakes which is all you could buy UK cars with.

More Vicky please! Man do I miss Tiff or what.. keep hearing his voice in my head while watching this excellent video. Remembering the 350Z was actually one of his favorite. Wish he could be at least a guest presenter on one of the future episode.

That Zed's a Japanese import, a base model one. The official import was the GT model. Edit - The GT also came with Brembo brakes as standard.

New cars are really taking away the feeling of driving for me. For example going from a STI forester to a Golf R i was disappointed the golf is more capable slightly but the Old Scooby is a hell of a lot more fun.

The 350z was one of my dream cars. About 8 years ago I bought an Azure Blue Rev Up version and I absolutely adored it. For me it was the perfect combination of sports car and cruiser. All my previous cars either felt like track cars or fat cruisers. That fat 3.5L engine not only sounded absolutely incredible but it had power everywhere. It was everything I could ever hope for. I wrote it off within 12 months and then bought the HR model with over 300hp and absolutely fell in love once I'd swapped the exhaust with an Ark and spaced and lowered it and had it setup for the track. Best car I've ever driven, all round comfortable powerful, you felt everything in the road. Amazing That was until someone drove into the back of me (On purpose) and the insurance cost me so much I had to sell the car. I've never recovered from that and I miss it everyday. If you ever see HJ57 WVA out there in the real world let me know. I put alot of love into that car and I was forced to sell it!

I remember when TopGear did an old vs new video with the 300ZX vs. the then new 350Z & the 300ZX won that battle, twin turbo on the 300. Maybe do a 300ZX vs. GR Supra? haha. I would like to see Mazda 323 GT-R vs. new Mazda3 AWD turbo please :)

Yes we know. You reviewed this car back when i was high school. I had 4 Zeds. Including 350Z and 370Z Nismo. Exposing everyones age here 😂. Sounds better than the 370 for sure

I had a 350Z Sport with the stiffer springs, Bilstein shocks and an heroic Brembo brake package. I reckon that would have made up the 4.9 seconds.

Probably an older video, because the supra is NOW offered with a 6 speed, tho not sure if available in EU

The Z is low on blinker fluid. A touring pack with 18" wheels and Brembo brakes would have been a better comparison.

At least get a UK GT edition that’s in a good nick. The 07 and above had over 300bhp, more torque and obviously the brembo brakes.

Shame it wasn't a UK 350z, not sure if the import one had the brembo brakes as I remember them being excellent

Comparing a base model Z to a supra. Nice. At least get a ST 350z with brembos. Or a rev-up/HR model with the standard brakes.

That 350Z doesn't have the Brembos, which partly explains the poor braking performance. The non-Brembo calipers were basically a parts bin recycle from the S13 Silvia / 180SX, a ~200kg lighter car. And even that car was considered underbraked with those brakes. It would have been interesting to see this done with a Brembo equipped car. The Supra still would have won, but it would have been closer.

I always get a kick about how one can watch 2 great shows(5th Gear and Clarkson/Hammond/May era Top Gear) and come to a review like this with the Z and the outcome/reviews are polar opposites.

The 350z Nismo was the peak for these cars. Had the HR motor, stiffer chassis and suspension. Even the 370z was a step backwards. Just not the same.

It would have been nice to see the Toyota go up against the new Z. And if you drive a z in the rain you best be up on your game.

Boot spoiler? I'd sooner complain that it's a base model with no brembos and it isn't the later 313hp HR variant. Could you pick a worse example of a uk 350z to pit against the supra?

well, there is a new Z which may not come to UK right now there is always hope and there is or there will be a manual Supra.
