For the smart key fob..you have the option of putting it in the fob slot and a small tip- If you wave the fob in front of the start button it will also start the car. Also there is a self diagnose mode for the Altima all years i believe ? Look up self diagnose for Nissan altima there are a few videos demonstrating how to do it. It will save you money it did for me.
Great solution. Could also be moisture and friction and WD-40 is a "water displacer" hence the WD in the name. If you have old spark plug wires and trouble starting a car, if you spray WD-40 on the spark plug wires, pushes the moisture out and the car will start much easier.
Really helpful video All-We'll Drive (Clever name too!) I saved myself a ton of money -> I put the 12 volt battery on charge for about 10 hours and the problem went away. Depressing the break pedal and pushing the start button put the all-important green light on. Btw: I think Nissan are failing to admit a design fault here. If you have to install a new switch, which requires the new cable harness - ask yourself why that new cable harness includes a relay. As a guy with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, I can tell you why. It's because the old harness was switching a current (number of amps) higher than the brake switch could handle over the thousands of times it was actuated. That switch also relies on a spring to "make" the circuit,. That spring, inside the switch, will fatigue with age = lose it's strength. Net result = arcing in the switch, which burns out the contacts. In my opinion, Nissan should be doing a recall on this, not charging us about $400 for the parts. Add in the labor charges and we're paying for their design error. Not good customer service!
The connection issue you show does not seem to explain the loss of battery power. Something must be running that is draining the battery. I have a 2008 Nissan and I have been having the same problem of the battery loosing charge every two weeks. At first it sounded like the Starter needed replacing. It turned out to be the Alternator. Two weeks later, the car wouldn't start due to no battery charge. I had the car taken back to the shop that installed the Alternator, and the car started running again. It continued running for two weeks. Then last Friday, it wouldn't start. Same thing. While I'll look into what you describe, I am not certain that this is the cause of the problem. And I had a new 36 month battery installed in March. It does not appear faulty after only three months.
This sounds more like parasitic draw which is possibly due to the break light switch relay being bad keeping the circuit open when the car is off. If you turn your car off and brake lights are still on 10 minutes later your most likely fault is the brake light relay. Hope this helps.
I have had the same issue and even replaced the brake switch but I still have intermittent starting issues. Maybe I just need to add some wd-40 I will try that thank you
@@Trippulations it was the steering gear box, they were on recall and needed replacement, I found it in the junk yard sence there expensive new, It under the steering wheel plastic cover, if the steering gear box is metal then it’s the original one , so it probably bad , the new ones are made of plastic
Hi i have problem with my 2011 Nissan Altima it’s drive good local but when I drive like 50 to 60 miles all the lights on dash board come on I can’t do anything it won’t turn off it can’t take gas just stop middle of the highway I need to take batterie wire off and put it back on to do anything any idea what wrong?
That one sounds pretty major. Have you checked the alternator? Wondering if it’s some other electrical issue. Do you have a trusted independent Nissan specialist near you? They are sometimes friendlier on the wallet to look at the problem.
I'm having this problem with my Nissan Sentra 2020., It won't start and the battery loses power after 3 days (from 12 b to 6v) Nissan can't find anything wrong with it.. The car emergency brakes also stops the car on its own. .
I had a Nissan rogue. The break lights would stay on even if car was off and keys out and no one in it. Took it to dealer. $140 later they found under hood a relay switch was bad. The starter relay or start/stop relay. It's been 5 years now I don't remember exactly which one but it was under the hood. The relay cost $40 and $100 to diagnosis
we have the same or similar issue, with trying to start the car the car battery died, even though the car did not turn over i was able to jump start the car with my truck, but what a pain, i also replaced the key fob battery
I finally replaced the switch, which was $24 on Amazon. Took 5 mins and no problem since. Such an unusual problem to have to troubleshoot. It starts out seeming as though it could be a battery.
