The Nissan Micra K11 has its engine coolant replaced, my tools get soaked, and we discover a fascinating gadget.
This Micra antifreeze change is the latest job of many. I have already:
• fixed a broken tailgate and door mirror
• done an engine compression test
• replaced the expansion tank
• fixed the broken blower motor and its jammed lever
• repaired the driver’s window that fell out
• inspected the front brakes on a Micra K11
• dealt with a horribly mouldy cabin
• taken off the scuttle panel to fix a huge water leak
• replaced missing parts, e.g. Micra K11 instrument cluster
• found out why the Nissan Micra K11 would not start.

Thanks for another thorough video demonstration.I wish to add a few points please. 1. I found a plastic drain plug at the base of the radiator on my K11 it has a cross head screwdriver slot which avoids removing lower radiator hose. 2 When rinsing the radiator this plastic plug can be reinserted temporarily to allow complete rinse top up. 3. l also unscrewed both the engine temperature sensor and the sender from next to the thermostat housing from where the rinse water will begin to seep when you have added enough rinse water. Well done. Another often overlooked maintenance/service requirement. The coolant can lose its anti-corrosion and lubricating elements before its anti-freeze element too. I did wonder if you were after a waterbed by having that sheet so close to the bottom hose, no matter how big the bowl or where you place it it never seems to catch all that rushes out. I got an unwelcome shampoo last time when the bottom hose wouldn't ease off until all of a sudden it did unexpectedly as the spring clamp was stuck to the hose out of sight.

Hello. The Micra K11 Owner's Manual confirms what type of coolant it needs.

Thank again for a wonderful video. My k11 has green coolant in it, any reason why i cant switch to the red or blue versions out there? Green seems quite expensive!

Hi,just wondering I've changed my coolant and refilled the expansion tank to max aswel but Im just wondering when coolant gets low in the radiator does it automatically suck coolant from the expansion tank because when I disconnected the thin hose from the radiator at the top no coolant was coming through even though the expansion tank was full. I also made sure the pipe itself was clean and free of blockage, I'm just worried that when the coolant level goes down in the radiator will the coolant within the expansion tank itself automatically suck through?thanks

Thst is something you should do dedpose of your old coolant properly because your pets will drink and end there life so be extremely careful with the old coolant

Couldn't agree more, Les. The dog wasn't allowed anywhere near the car. He was busy elsewhere chasing tennis balls!
