I’m really interested in this as my next lease. Thing is, I’ve been seeing lots of comments on social media about generator failures, resulting in customers waiting months for replacements from Nissan and it’s putting me off.

Thank you for doing this :) I'm trying to work out our next Motability car and your review has really helped - especially the door opening to 85o in the back and height of boot. (Also Lords of the Lost! Class, mate, class!)

The door opening. Now what you don't realise is if it's very stormy wind & you don't hold the door getting out, then wind will really throw it back harshly & could cause a bit of buckling at the hinges, but with most cars openings not as fully then the wind again means the door is stronger & will cope better at the hinges points. So always hold the door when really windy getting out.

In town I presume? That's great by using the ePower regen braking.

Nissan have the Ariya on sell now, which is a full EV & a SUV size.

Bear, did you get any stalling or hesitation issues with this e-Power Qashqai when pulling away from junctions or roundabouts? I keep having them with my 22 reg Techna+, but not every junction or roundabout. This happens when in either of the driving modes, so it's not just in Eco for example, it is the 1.3 MHEV engine. I love the car, and this is the only thing that spoils the whole experience for me. This car is a great cruiser too. Don't know why, but we had the older J11 Qashqai Techna, 16 reg, and our dog didn't settle for ages on a journey. With this one she is settled in minutes. Maybe it's the better ride. An aside on economy here, I recently got 60.4mpg in Eco mode, on a journey of about 12 to 15 miles. I will also say that it was mostly around the 40 to 50mph mark for most of that distance, in traffic. Lastly, I just don't get this e-Power idea from Nissan. As you said, an extra 200kg being dragged about, like having two passengers with you all the time. Why not just get an all electric car?
@seltaeb3302
@seltaeb3302 5 дней назад
Well, it's about charging points, is problem, so on full EV there can be a queue of people waiting & that could be 90min or 2hrs for long journeys. So this is a way round that as a stop gap but will get people used to bty electric motor driving. In 10yrs from Zoe Leaf the cars are proper journey cars now. Look at Renault Scenic EV, it's amazing, 379 miles tho really 320-330 say. The infrastructure needs to get much better but we also need prices to come down on EVs but that can only happen with more being bought. Catch 22 for now.

6:10 the door pockets are way too small imo and its a shame it doesn’t come with led interior lights

I like the Qashqai's styling. It's relatively conservative, and as VW and Audi have proven, that generally ages quite well. The problem is the SUV shape is not necessarily the best for economy. I get 60mpg on the motorway in my Ioniq and about 65mpg round town, but it's very aerodynamic and quite low.
@AutoBears
@AutoBears 4 месяца назад
That is true. SUV's don't have the aerodynamics of a hatchback or estate. I do feel with EV's we will see a return of them simply due to their efficiency.
@Ambienfinity

@@AutoBears I think you're right. I know people like sitting higher and the boots are a bit bigger, but I deliberately went for a saloon / coupe shape, and it's not much less practical.

What is the ProPilot system and how does it differ from what drive assist features are available on models without ProPilot? Is ProPilot only on automatic models or is it on for example, the Techna 1.3 manual mild hybrid, which has the blue button on the right side of the steering wheel?
@spencerbaldwin8589
@spencerbaldwin8589 2 месяца назад
I've got a 2022 1ltr 3 cyl turbo petrol Juke Tekna + 6 speed manual, which has pro pilot. It's a pretty good system on this car. It basically has a 360 radar system, adaptive cruise control and keeps you in the centre of the lane when driving, although it warns you after a few seconds to keep your hands on the wheel. I hope that answers your question.

Can you switch to the B mode and e pedal at any speed or does it have to be under 30 mph.
@seltaeb3302
@seltaeb3302 4 часа назад
You can't do it at fast speeds as it would be like slamming your brakes on emergency wise. Probably under 40mph. It's for in town really where you brake lots & you will charge bty & ICE won't be on that much.

Thank you for your comment. The Honda system sits between Nissans and Toyotas. Toyota has a full hybrid system driven through a gear box to the front wheels, whereas Hondas has no gearbox, nit both the engine and motor send power to the wheels. The Nissan does not, its all motor.

This full polluting car should be taxed of the road, it is not a hybrid , it runs only on petrol.
@Lee-qh4qo
@Lee-qh4qo 20 дней назад
But the engine isn’t actually driving anything, it’s just charging the battery so it’s idling when it’s running which isn’t all the time only when the battery is low, and about polluting well the electric is polluting also to build it is polluting, the highest part of it is mining and building the battery’s for these evs creates more pollution then what a petrol car does in its entire life
@whocares264
@whocares264 19 дней назад
@@Lee-qh4qo The petrol engine supplies all the power , the battery is tiny the faster you go the more that petrol engine revs, the petrol engine is driving a generator the comical thing about this car is the cheap to run element is the charging at home and this has batttery is so small it has virtually no battery only range so plug in would be pointless. Mining and building batteries, do you live near a one of these mines, do you live near a road.....
@seltaeb3302
@seltaeb3302 5 дней назад
@@whocares264the petrol engine only charges the bty, the bty then powers the electric motor that then powers the wheels. In town the engine won't be on that much, but mway driving it will be on more. Renault Austral hybrid, sometimes the engine powers the wheels & bty charging & sometimes the electric motor via the bty will power the wheels. The computer decides what to select on road & driver style.
@whocares264

@@seltaeb3302 when the battery only has enough power to propel the vehicle a mile or two obviouslty the petrol engine runs most of the time....on a long trip the engine will be running all the time.. this system would be better as a plug in with a biggger battery, home charging is cheap public charging is expensive. yes the rex system that is now used on black taxis ideal...
