New to the channel. The "cover" you mentioned late in the video is actually an anti squeal shim that should be fitted to prevent brake noise. The retaining bolt can be removed by applying heat then shock, ie with a blow torch/even a lighter and a couple of taps with a hammer, ideally get an impact driver. You should clean the rust from the hub before you put the new disc on to ensure it's totally flat. Add copper grease to the hub face before new disc put on, add it to the retaining bolt threads to help removal in the future and add it to the disc where it touches the wheel to help removal of the wheel itself, remember only a light coat of grease in all applications

After watching most of your videos, i decided i would try and relive my car styling days once again. with my j11. so far i have added the antenna shark fin aerial, vinyl covered the chrome window trims, added black/red badges, and painted the chrome V Grille black, and added led taillights and one inside the boot, oh and also a boot lip spoiler in black. the swiping indicators on the mirrors and yellow fog light bulbs. oh also got 19" xtrail alloys with upsized 245 50 r19s alround but your vids inspired me once again so thank you.

Tip for anyone attempting this process. Undo the disc locator screw prior to removing the caliper. Stick a screwdriver in the disc vent and jam it against the caliper. Saves you alot of time and effort. Obviously if its seized in there then you've no choice.
@b.j.dejong4283
@b.j.dejong4283 2 года назад
You can also put the screwdriver in the locator screw and while turning it, hit the head of the screw driver with a hammer. After a few times hitting the screw starts turning.

Need to do front discs to get through the TÜV test prior to upgrading our 14 manual to a 19 auto. As a newcomer to your channel I find your video superb. I was particularly interested in tips for retracting the cylinders....the trigger clamp, perfect idea. Thanks and greetings from the SE Londoner in SW Germany, Allan ps did you mean 1cm thick? 😁

Shouldn't the clip spring hook behind the pad top and bottom? You've stated that it should stay on the outside?

Should be inside. Acts as a spring to push pads back. It is not right what he done there with the pads.

Hi. Mr Qashqai, as a PS to the recent post, I have this morning completed a replacement of the hubs(bearings} ,brake discs and pads on my J11 I can assure you that the hubs are both drilled and tapped M8 x 1,25 to accept disc retaining screws, not as you suggest that one is not threaded. It does not of course answer my question as to why Nissan fit only one screw. @@TheQashqaiGuy

Hi mate, I got the front discs and pads changed at my local garage. Brembo pads and discs, there's a squeaking sound coming from the left brakes. I brought it back today, they had a look and said everything looks fine. They don't know why it's squeaking, any ideas what it could be? The mechanic reckons maybe it's just a faulty brake pad.
@TheQashqaiGuy

New brakes can squeek while they bed in. Give it a bit of time and it may go

@@TheQashqaiGuy it sounds high pitched, like the sound you get when they're worn. Is this normal? Would you chance some brake cleaner on them?

Maybe a dumb question but you need these 4 Pads only for the front what this video cover. And then you need other 4 for the rear, right? So 8 pads, all the same model? Thanks man :)

Any reason why did you decide not to fit the anti-squeal shims for each of the four pads? Did you find you had any brake squeal as a result? Only asking as I am trying to diagnose a squeal after doing the front brakes on a Qashqai J11 (also used Brembo P56100) but fitted the shins myself with plenty of ceramic grease on the backs…

Hi there, new to your channel having been thinking about getting a J11 with the 1.5 DCI myself. Hope you don't mind the off topic question, and I'm sure you've been asked before, but what sort of fuel economy do you typically get? Enjoying going through your vids! Cheers

Hi mate. Thanks for your comment. I get around 35mpg on daily driving to work which is a short journey on town roads. Longer journeys, depending on road type can be up to 70mpg. Average trip with a mix of roads would be at least 55mpg

@@TheQashqaiGuy oh and also what's Nissan's recommended interval for the cambelt? I'm seeing 90k/5 years but can't see much on forums etc to confirm as such.
@TheQashqaiGuy
@TheQashqaiGuy 2 года назад
Yeah you should get a decent mpg on that run. I'd say it's ideal for a mix of driving. As for cambelt, it's 90k or 5 years. I had mine done at 5 years as it was only on 70k at the time.

I have the J11 with the 1.5 DCI and I can say that it really shines in highway driving. I consistently get between 60 and 70 mpg for trip averages when mostly on the highway.
