I was able to figure this one out on my own, because mine cracked, and within a week I had to crumble the whole back peice since it was starting to rattle at highway speeds. Good stuff regardless.
You don't need to use a screwdriver in the first procedure. You'll also Mar up the dash doing it that way. Open the top cubby grab in the center and pull. It'll literally pop right out.
you are right, I just pulled on the front lip towards the rear and it came right out, another tip is the left vent removes easy as well, and then you can safely remove the emergency wire harness
This is exactly right. Unfortunately, they're so badly made with cheap plastic (and a lot of forces from spring system), that they just shatter at the slightest touch. I bought a 2001, and installed a new Stereo on the first day. I gently removed it, and it completely broke. Bought another on ebay, and it cracked the moment I started pushing it in. The plastic screw holes that hold the cubby on through the spring are just awful and corrode over time. I finally just had to deactivate the spring assembly. The cubby opens, but it doesn't stay up.
I ordered a cubby from eBay and when I received it there was no emergency flasher button in it. Are you able to remove the emergency flasher button from my broken cubby
@Idan Clark On the side of the connector. It is hidden by the ventilation tube and difficult to push to release. On my right hand drive car it is on the right hand side of the connector.
