I have used aviation grade gasket sealant for 20+ years and never had a issue when applying to paper gaskets and surfaces stuff looks like tar and smells like it too i would highly recommend. And it's a little more eye appealing not seeing a big bead of orange or red under the hood
I just want something that I can drop in without having to rig things up. Its hard to find any information about engine swaps and there are so many different diesel engines i am unsure which to go with. I have read things about some of the engines not being reliable. I would end up doing a turbo upgrade as well as custom intercooler but i just want reliable power without it costing me an arm and a leg. I appreciate your input as you know more than I do.
Havent actually driven a turbo TD27 but I don;t think from what I hear that they are that much more powerful, I'd look at a more modern turbo engine like the ZD30. I came from a Navara with the turbo ZD30 before this one which makes this one feel like a fully loaded school bus.
Good video, I drive an old London Taxi which has the TD27 engine. The temperature only gets to a quarter at best, the fan is quite hard to move. I have changed the thermostat and temp sensor. Worried about doing the water pump for the fan, as my bolts are like butter on the whole engine. Any advice you can offer? Like how many turns should the fan go with a push. etc
I love the TD27 as well I've got one in my D22. I hear kind about the botka being butter 😂 I need to do my water pump and I've been putting it off because I'm worried about the bolts snapping in the block, its happened before... As for advice heat, oil n , patience
@@greensnake00 I covered over grill in the winter which gave better temps which helped the engine. The water pump works fine on mine, been thinking about removing the blade and fitting and electric fan. Just money, time and space in the engine are holding me back at the moment.
Don’t think so it’s one unit, if your fan clutch is wobbling it’s most likely the bearings in the water pump failing, I’d replace the whole thing to be safe
Hi sir I need to replace the w pump on my Nissan Homy 91 I would like to attempt the task myself but I don’t have any experience is a torque wreck essential If so how much should I regulate it at from all the bolts necessary to reach the w pump and the water pump itself Best regards

hello there. looking at you'r video and was wander next to the water pump there is a unit bolted on with 2 ,12 bolt with wires coming out what is this for i have this same unit on my engine and not hook up because it is a convesion on my mini van in trinidad
I have a 91 model diesel and it runs exactly the same revs as yours. As it was my Granddads bought brand new I thought he might have opted for a lower ratio gearbox or diff but it must be normal seens yours is the same. With your fan clutch, when the fail what do they do? Do they lock up or do they free wheel and not lock up? Great video by the way. Very informative and to the point. Thanks
N/A or turbo? the N/A like this one are fairly under powered. It plods along ok with no load but with decent load like one of out 6foot diesel zero turns on the tray or towing a trailer with the harvest its working pretty hard. I imagine a Frontier would be heavier than a single cab D21
