I love how open she is about how she still makes mistakes. I feel people view these superstars as flawless musicians and seeing her talk about her mistakes so comfortably is really I guess "humanizing" for lack of a better word. Great interview man. They were good questions to ask.
@orlock20
@orlock20 6 лет назад
For good guitarists at that level, it's about learning how to recover after a mistake or technical difficulty such as a string breaking in the middle of a solo.
@mightymouse742
@mightymouse742 6 лет назад
She's not a superstar. She's not a top caliber musician in any way shape or form. She's a pro from the standpoint that she gets paid to play covers in a touring band. I don't consider her playing pro level at all. The guy interviewing her is a better guitar player than she is. Every interview I see her in she's a sloppy mess and her "improvisation" over the chord changes at the end sucked. There's other keys besides E minor Nita. Have a guy a play the same licks and nobody would give a shit. The one question I would have asked is why she needed to fleece her fans on kickstarter for over $100,000 to record a fucking album. She's been making a decent salary with Alice for the last 4 years yet she has the balls to ask people for money to make an instrumental album. Gee, other people seem to be able to do that without holding their hand out. Too many people are blowing smoke up her ass when there's thousands of other professional guitar players out there who who play circles around her and don't get nearly as much exposure because they don't have large tits and a bubble ass and weren't lucky enough to have Kip Winger put in a good word for them. Ooops, run-on sentence. She's a mediocre guitar player at best and we all know it. You know how it is in the music business, lie publicly and shoot it straight privately. Or just use an alias on youtube and be honest publicly. I'm being honest. Gotta keep that smile on your face and only say good things about other players. Never know who's ass you may have to lick to get a break in the future. One big circle jerk.
@Khaynizzle7
@Khaynizzle7 6 лет назад
The Fury dude I think you're getting the wrong impression of me and I may have the wrong impression of her. I may have been mistaken but I thought they were talking about Alice In Chains and she was their fill in I don't really know her outside of this video. If I'm not mistaken then I would personally consider her a pretty big musician. All I know is that i've played many shows and made many mistakes myself and its something that a lot of beginner musicians don't understand that mistakes are a part of the business. I've seen bands quit after one bad show and thats not the way it works. Clearly by what you say a lot of people do actually look up to her so for her to tell her fans to make mistakes but learn from them and continue to grow could be very enlightening for someone that is terrified of playing live out of fear of possibly making a mistake. I also want to say I do understand how you feel. Its frustrating when you see people praising a musician you find awful but the point is people do happen to look up to her and she is making some good points. Just remember there are plenty of people out there that idolize people like Jeff Loomis, or Rick Graham, or Jason Richardson, etc. Music is not lost especially with guys like Music is Win and Adam Neely gaining more traction.
@Khaynizzle7
@Khaynizzle7 6 лет назад
Brad Młodystach I didn't like it all that much either but did anyone here actually meet her, play with her at all, or even do minimal research on her at all? I cant make a judgement based on her actual abilities from one video of a small interview. Also even if she isnt great she seems pretty humble, at least in this video, which is something musicians are lacking today. So at least she is trying to send a good message in this video. Playing guitar has basically become a giant dick measuring contest at this point. Its funny though because imo Yngwie Malmsteen isnt anything special however I'm sure many people disagree and I could see why they would. Its all about opinions and imo shes decent enough to be where she is. I dont think she claims to be some crazy good guitar player, just that she's a professional one. Still fail to see why she is getting so much hate. A lot of musicians are putting raw talent above heart and personally I believe you can get further with heart than you can with just raw talent. If people can't feel what you're writing then you're only going to be appealing to those that put theory above all else and that's totally fine but there is nothing wrong with just having a passion to create music. Its possible to write great music while being a mediocre guitar player with a lot of heart.
@kitano0
@kitano0 5 лет назад
@@Khaynizzle7 " Its possible to write great music while being a mediocre guitar player with a lot of heart. " Precisely! When Quincy Jones was quoted bashing the Beatles, particularly Paul, as bad musicians, I was like "So what?" Being a virtuoso only takes you so far...there have been a lot of great songs written by players using 3 or 4 chords while they were just learning to play.

Reiley Williams have a look on utube for Satriani playing a really cheap ass guitar.... and he still sounds awsome. Amazing stuff, havnt got a link but look it up, he's giving a lesson to a young ameture i think. It really is in the hands but your right, you still need quality because people are paying good money to see you and they deserve the best quality hence expensive gear.

Ye that really bugs me when guitarist say that. It just isn't true. Yes phrasing and style of play are a factor but you can't magic a beginner squire+5watt amp pack into a £1000 PRS+marshall stack just by playing it differently lol! I think these guys tend to forget what kind of "tone" low grade equipment really gives you.
