Nitrous in my eyes is the best bang for your buck especially for a person who doesn’t really wanna have a full tilt race car all the time. You can build a motor that can handle the added horsepower and while on motor know your pretty much bulletproof then hit it with a 250-300 shot an literally pick up 2 seconds. To the avg person 2 seconds may not sound like much but in the world of 1/4 mile times to pick up that much from a flick of a switch is flat out insane. Not to mention it’s like a complete different car on nitrous there’s nothing better then that pissed off sound of a motor on nitrous!!

Great video, I would like to add that 50% progression. Does not equal 50% of the hp of the jet. This really depends on nitrous solenoid orfice and line size/length between the jet and solenoid. Example: If you have a .120 orfice in your solenoid and have a .60 jet. At 50% progression. You can actually refill the line between the solenoid and jet before the nitrous has had time to clear through the jet. This creates a non linear hp curve vs. progression. Note: The area of a .60 jet is not half of a .120 jet. Just easy to compare for the example.

Yeah, the nice thing about the Holley setup is that you can program a non-linear rate to better compensate. It's more of a solenoid problem then anything as most don't open until at least 20% duty cycle and most are full open by the time you hit 70% duty cycle unless it can react very, very fast.

Its amazing how I've already prepared for nitrous unkownly before even considering a dry n2o system and how we think alike. Im currently working on my base tune naturally aspirated with my water methanol injection system, now will be adding the dry nitrous system to the equations. Hopefully the methanol will act as my additional fueling? I use Brisk silver racing plugs 1 step colder and non projected and shielded. Seems to reduce my knock sensor activating overall versus the new Lgs premium plugs i just installed that have no protruding ground electrode but are projected and non shielded. As always Kyle great video and informative. Keep up the awsome work brother! IAT. (I'm always tunning!) 😉

I’ve always follow the rule of tune for a AFR on nitrous as you would NA! Typically 12.0-12.5

Still learning about nitrous and sharing this is tremendously helpful, thank you! The software allows for laser precise control of the nitrous event. One thing that has me scratching my head is, once the gas sprays out through a fixed orifice and, although air volume increases with rpm, the nitrous volume stays the same. Furthermore, as the pressure drops in the bottle, the nitrous volume actually goes down a bit. Seems like the nitrous supply line should have a pump and regulator similar to a fuel line so it never changes. And nitrous injectors should be similar to fuel injectors and pwm increases with intake air volume.

When it comes to nitrous i plan to leave all the tuning stuff and timing and plug choices to my tuner because i do not have a lot of experience with nitrous in general! Great stuff!!

It's not that bad, just start with small Jets, watch your AFR and move up from there. Good to see you got the timing box from Lingenfelter!

@@GoatRopeGarage Yes definitely going to be starting low and slowly moving up. I wanted the box to make sure i didnt have to be switching tunes from nitrous tune to NA tune. With C16 ive read you dont need to pull timing up to a 150, but im still going to pull the 2 degrees per 50 hp just to be on the safe side!

Pulling timing is required because the way it burns with the nitrous, not because of AFR

The progressive controller has more to do with solenoid flow potential... it's all about the size of solenoid. If you have a 400hp solenoid which is pretty normal even in smaller kits these days, 50% is 200hp. You are right about the 20-70% working range. Pulsoids are supposedly capable of 10-90%. I deally on a 150shot you would use a 200hp solenoid Allowing a 40hp(20%) start to 140hp(70%) finish or even a 150hp solenoid. I'm thinking of using a 150hp Pulsoid on my Hellcat since it is so sensitive to nitrous( small amounts make huge power). It's sad that the progressive is not explained better by the manufacturer. Maybe nitrous would not have such a sketchy street reputation. Racers usually have a good grasp of the situation.

as well as hp increase NOS give, coming back too the pits cold enough for another run is what i like. You almost don’t need the fans! Heat is the killer of most engines, for example 280000psi head studs (ca626) are closer in strength to (ARP) 2000’s when the reach 100 degrees celsius.. With nos, packaging car remain almost stock too.. Only problem with it has too be with knowing everything about the engine before you spray, more suited for pro. Turbo cars using a 25shot is king, it sounds small, bur, far from-it. 25 shot is forgiving and make a 1500hp turbo come on like a 750 hp turbo, not only that, the bottle can last all night with 25shot nozzle!

TIMNG: @ 5:30 you mention various ways to pull timing in the ECU/PCM but when you get into setting up the controller @ 11:38 it appears the controller can pull timing. Can you clarify? E85 for the Wet spay (engine on pump gas): Any comments on this? Could it eliminate need to pull timing of a 150 shot 500 cu in. 500 na engine?

What’s your opinion on using an AEM Infinity 506 for nitrous control? Running one on my 03 hayabusa and would like to just run everything through the ECU instead of adding another controller

Like your video good information my question is did you do anything to your motor like ring gap I got 84 Chevy Camaro Z 28 when I put in a 5.3 ls in whit Holley terminator x max I want to run 150 to 200 shot of nitrous how big of injectors do I need or will it hurt the motor if I get to big of injector I’m gap my rings to 32 and running a Stage three summit turbo cam

I didn't do ring gap, but in all honesty, this motor is temporary as we will be LS swapping it soon, so I'm not worried about it. As far as injectors for a dry kit, look at how many lbs per hour you have, calculate the nitrous shot and do 30lb/hr per 100hp on top of your injectors, so if you have plenty of duty cycle left on your current ones it should give you an idea of how big a shot you can run and how much bigger your injectors need to be to go to a bigger shot.

A little can be beneficial, but it isn't like a boosted application where you have to have a lot of ring gap, you aren't creating the cylinder temps that compressed air does with nitrous.

Quick question , if we tune a dry shot with hptuners in speed density , do we add fuel with the VE or the PE ? And what lamda is good to run in a port injection with nitrous does the .85 still apply or we should treat it as a boosted application

It’s 2 degrees from stock so yea I imagine if u have advanced timing you’d have to retard it more then 2

Is it safe to relate the tuning information to a 1000cc engine running a 40 shot (adding roughly 30%) to the same as a 150 on the 5.3L LS? There’s a lot of valuable information here. Just wondering how well it will translate to the bike.

I feel like it's a battle between keeping AFRs between 12.5-13 and then others that tune it as if it were boosted.

I have a question about the dry setup you said the rule of thump is 30lb/h of fuel flow for every 100 shots of nitrous now I am curious what if I want to spary a dry 100 shots witnout a standalone to support that how can I add that 30lb/h of fuel flow using hp tuners if I am running a sd tune can I just multiply my ve table by 1.3 at map/rpm where I will be spraying or just multiply the whole table or alternatively multiply my pe table by that percent but then isn't my eq ratio going to be richer ?if I was shooting for 0.85 lambda and then I add that 30% fuel to my pe table isn't that going to scew my eq ratio and make it something similar to 0.65 lambda instead of 0.85 which seems more correct ?

Yeah, you need to run a wet setup or figure out a way to fake something out, but I'm not going to get into that, there is a way

@@GoatRopeGarage instead of faking it through the ecm is changing the injectors to a bigger injectors the right way since it's fuel flow after all if let's say I went from a 60lb/hr injectors to 90lb/hr injectors would that be the right way?

@@GoatRopeGarage and when you say that the afr should be around 12-12.7 how much max shots of nitrous are we talking about before we dive into let's say the 11s or even 10s cause whenever I search about nitrous afrs it seems everyone is just different from too rich 10s to too lean 13s is there some threshold say like from 50-100 shots 12.5-12.7 Then for example for 150 -200 11.5-11.8 and so on

@@GoatRopeGarage Ford tfi I think I need to disable the static timing and set base timing first and then turn on static to control timing, the idile timing in the Holley is set to 10 degrees that’s where I set it at and then turn on static timing right???

Static timing is just to verify that your distributor is clocked properly, your set it to 15 at idle, grab your timing light and then adjust the distributor to 15, that way you know what you're commanding on the terminator is correct
