It looks like a nightmare to take this scooter apart my friend, so many screws and clips. And then you’ve got to put it all back together again. Your very skilled man, thank you so much for showing us all how to do it 🤙🏻
My won't turn on now,i left it outside on balcony thru winter time. Maybe is cold weather or something. When i pressed the button to turn it on it showed screen displayed for 2 seconds and then shut it itself. I try to charge it and no response on screen or sound. I wonder what's wrong with it.
Its possible the battery has discharged completely in the cold over long winter period. But hard to say for sure. Try to contact NIU to see what they say.
URGENT! For the rear tire change can I just remove the bottom plastic and remove the rear tire or do I need to remove the top plastic as well as bottom?
It should be enough to remove the bottom grey cover to get to the axle nuts holding the rear tyre in place as seen here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2GT5LiTJ8D8.html If you have a flat though, I would first try to repair it with a tubeless tyre plug kit and you won't have to remove the tyre.
hi i have a question after removing the griptape and the plastic beneath it the additional cover doesnt bring a plastic one is there any place i can buy these plastic tape or is not needed ?
Asking about speedlimiting, i know the limiter is in the software but... This might be stupid thing but have anyone tested if you try another lcd screen on niu kickscooter like s866 (programmable lcd) can you set new parameters in and tune speed and current limiting with another lcd computer or is it just the controller that sucks. 🤣 Just wondering if there is something little different lcd screen with niu when they program the controller from factory like eu or us.. meaning if they just use different lcd screen on the factory when they do the parameters with multiple buttons and then put the "original" sceen on it and sell them..? Maybe i just order 1000w aftermarket controller and forget all these thinking and pain 😅 sorry for the unclear explanation
Not sure, as I haven't tried replacing a battery, but if you mean settings such as your ride statistics, I think those are stored by the controller and probably the NIU app in your NIU account, that is at least my guess :)
@@owenchupan3032 Not sure what Bluetooth or other settings should change. The scooter just connects to the app automatically, the battery change should not affect any settings. If you changed something like the controller that would likely mean you would need to link the scooter again with your Phone.
Hello. My charge doesn't charge the scooter, tried to separate issues: charger work good, first green, when connect to scooter turns red. Scooter doesn't turn on. So I see the problem in connection or in battery (that might be gone to security mode). Did you faced to this kind of problem?
No, unfortunately I did not come across a problem of the scooter not charging at all. Not sure what might be causing it. The fact that the charger turns from green to red when you plug it in should indicate the scooter is charging. If it is not, you might have to contact NIU over at Global-Service@niu.com to see if they have any suggestions to try.
Thank you for the great video my friend. I’ve Hurd the Blue Wire coming out of the controller is the speed limiter wire and if you unplugged it/ cut it it will increase the top speed of the scooter 🛴? Is this true?..
At the top edge its about 9cm x 10cm and 7cm deep, but it narrows as you go down the metal tub, so to be on the safe side I would go 7.5cm x 9cm. I can measure it in more detail in my next video on the back fender replacement.
Hello, sorry I am not sure what the best process is for reviving a completely discharged battery. I have not deat with such a problem so far. I know it is possible to revive the battery, but in this case it would be best to ask NIU support to tell you what the process is for the KQi3.
I’d like to know if it’s possible to hide and connect a gps locator to the battery, for example. But I’m afraid I won’t be brave enough to do that even if it was possible! 😅 Luckily this video gets to repair shops everywhere!
Not sure if its possible. I am sure someone with experience with scooter modification will try it eventually. But if you don't have the necessary expertise I would not recommend messing with the scooter electronics.
I need some help. It was working in the morning but all of the sudden when i was getting ready to go home it wouldn’t turn on. I pressed the power button and it won’t turn on. It charges fine but this is my issue. Have any idea how to fix this
If there is no error and the scooter is not responding at all, it might be an issue with the button itself or some other internal hardware problem. Its hard to say what might be causing it without further diagnostics. In this case it will be best to contact NIU support for help as they have the tools to properly diagnose these sort of problems.
You can order spare parts from NIU service partner at shop.besender.com/store/ if the part you need is not listed fill out this form niu.besender.com/form and they will reply to you with the cost of the parts you need. Also just curious, what happened with your battery that you need a new one?
which controller wires are used? i want to try the NIU KQi2 Pro with Xiaomi Controller and maybe new display Controller Cable is 5 PIN waterproof, like Xiaomi ... Battery is XT60
You can get any spare parts you need from shop.besender.com/store/ if they don't have some parts listed, you can fill out a form niu.besender.com/form and they will send you a quote for the parts you need. If you are still under warranty use the same form to get your scooter fixed.
Error 33 is the "Battery open-circuit or imbalance warning". I hove not come across this error myself so not sure what might be causing it. I would recommend trying to reach out to NIU and see if they have any suggestion on what to try. My guess would be, if you haven't used the scooter for a year the battery might be too depleted for the scooter to start.
Not related with the video but do we have on KQi2 pro the Cruise mode? I'm not sure if it's only a feature that it's on KQi3 pro or if it's only available on US. Great video tho!
Cruise Control is available on the KQi2, but not in the EU. The International/US model has it enabled afaik. But due to restrictions in some EU countries NIU and other scooter manufacturers like Segway have disabled this feature in Europe. I hope NIU brings it back in countries where its not specifically restricted, or when you use your scooter on private property.
Hi, its a PH1 screwdriver from a set like this www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1JXWY8N/ wrapped in rubber anti-slip mat; but its not the best option, a better alternative would be some sort of L shaped driver.
I will definitely consider doing guides for other parts of the KQi2. I do mention the rear tire change a bit; to get to the nuts holding the tire in place you will also need to remove the bottom plastic cover which is held in place by 6 allen screws from the bottom. After that it should be the same as on any other scooter.
You should be able to order it from NIU, go to niu.com scroll to bottom click on after sales, click on scooter and ebike, select region and it will get you to a page where you can request a quote for spare parts. In EU you can go to niu.b2x.com in US shop.besender.com/store

So I order the controller box and replaced it rode it a day and it died on me placed it on charger for 2 hours battery pack turned green..tried to power up now it won't turn on
@@sherees29ify Hi, just noticed your reply now. Not sure what might be causing it, and why it died on you after it worked for one day. What was the issue with the first controller? Was there any error codes before it died the second time? If you are sure everything was done correctly, it might be best to contact NIU support and see if they have any ideas what might be causing the issue.
Glad you liked it. Not planning to do a tyre change video, until I have to. On tubeless tyres if you get a small flat its easier to use a tyre plug kit (as used for car tyres) to fix it rather than changing the whole tyre. As for wheel removal, that should be straight forward, for the back one just remove the bottom black plastic cover in addition to the top cover, as I mentioned in the video, and you should get full access to the rear axle nuts. For the front wheel you need to remove the reflective stickers, and remove the screws to get to the big axle nuts to remove the wheel. I plan on doing a repair video on the error03 issue with the throttle, which will involve dissembling the display and getting the throttle off the handlebars.
Thanks. There is no speed limiter to disconnect, the speed limit is programmed in the controller firmware, afaik. On scooters that are controlled though a mobile app (e.g. Ninebot Max), you need to change the firmware to unlock the speed, and so far on the NIU that is not possible as far as I know. You can ask NIU about it, the hope is they will find a legal way for users to be able to unlock the scooter speed when they use it on private land or in countries where higher speed is allowed.
@@Lantea13 thank you for your informative informations, Really helps us a lot of time and energy, I will try to contact NIU on my end to see if there’s a way to unlock the speed
What a pain though just to change a tire lol but I guess it really would’ve t take too long to do this just have to keep the screws stood up like you have them in the places they go or came from.
Once you know how to do it its not really that hard. Just a lot of screws and you need to be careful not to damage the grip tape/plastic board when you unstick it from the deck. :)
Ah okay thank you I was afraid to just do this because I don’t want to break anything it’s a nice scooter. But now I know a lot better I just get paranoid you know mess up on thing like a wire or drop something in there and it may ruin it.
Maybe in the future. I currently only have the KQi2 from NIU for review and testing. I wanted to first review this model because its one of the best options in the €500 price category and many people are often asking for the best cheap scooter to get.
My niu kqi2 randomly wont turn on. The battery charges but the scooter will not power up. Disconnected and reconnected the battery but still not working. Anyone got ideas ?
I had this happen on my review KQi2 as well (main reason why my final review is delayed so much). If the battery re-connect does not work you need to send it for repair unfortunately, or ask NIU to send you a replacement controller and replace it yourself, since you already had the scooter opened up, you already did the hard part :) I heard back from NIU about the problem, and it was related to soldering of some components on the controller. They are taking new precautions and putting extra quality control steps in place so this should no longer happen in the future.
i have saw that in some electric scooters if you disconnect a cable in the controller it unlocks the speed limit, have you tried disconnecting some of those? thx in advance! edit; I was referring to this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2xCcfLr-vmc.html
That's not how it works with scooters such as the NIU KQi2 or other scooters such as the Segway Ninebot Max. On these scooters that are controlled though a mobile app, you need to change the firmware to unlock speed, and so far on the NIU that is not possible as far as I know. You can ask NIU about it, the hope is they will find a legal way for users to be able to unlock the scooter speed when they use it on private land or in countries where higher speed is allowed.
What if you disconnect the speed sensor? Obviously you won't see any speed in the display anymore. But does it still run? (with unlimited speed). Or doesn't it run at all without speed sensor?
@@newenergy8994 What speed sensor? AFAIK there is no way to just disconnect some wires to make it go faster or ignore the controller firmware that is determining all functions of the scooter. Take a look at how people make modification on the Ninebot Max to get an idea what might be required, but nobody has tried custom firmware on the NIU afaik.
Did you try and ask them if you can buy a replacement battery and they refused to sell you one? If that is the case I would be interested to look into this further. If you can post a copy of your communication with NIU I will be happy to ask them about it myself.
That would be nice for riding on private land or in areas where higher speed is allowed. I hope NIU comes up with a solution themselves that would allow them to comply with EU laws on speed limits and cruise control, but also enable them to have a direct option in the NIU app to unlock the speed and features such as cruise control when the user agrees its for use on private property and takes full responsibility for the unlocks. That way NIU is covered and users get more options in using their scooters. However not sure if legally such option is possible in all EU countries. Alternatively maybe the community comes up with a solution as they did for some other scooters, but personally I would prefer an official way to unlock the speed and advanced options.
Don't buy it for 600 euros thrown away....... In 6 months I have sent it 4 times to Germany for repair, they don't have points in Italy for repair. They don't speak Italian, but Italian money is convenient for them. Unreliable people and poor product. With the old xiaomi scooter, not all the failures I encountered on this scooter had happened to me. Bought on 11/26/2022 and in July 2023 it broke for the 4/5th time because in the last ticket, in addition to the second breakage of the ignition button, error 03 was added to the accelerator. Buy other brands.

It can be a bit tricky to change the tyres, but unless the tyre is severally damaged, you can try using a tubeless tyre plug kit to repair any punctures without taking the tyre off the rim.
