No Doubt in the 90's was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Gwen literally would run and jump around the stage the entire set and still hit the notes. It was truely an amazing all around performance and I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to see her live back in the day.
I also wish I were there but I was born in 00 TT. I love No doubt since I was in high school and my sister showed me their songs. Till this day I still love seeing they perform even if its only in youtube! Im so glad you were able to see them live.
What a performance! So raw and heart felt. Sung as if it was the first time the words had ever come out of her mouth. Clearly having a nervous breakdown towards the end of the song! Bravo Gwen - knocked it out of the park!
@@SickeyLegg Dude, just let it go. We are all alone on this rock. I believe more in the Captain Kirk fiction than your muppet 6000 years of mind raping the weak minded.
@@gretabthouartThe bassist. They were involved as it was her brothers friend. They were around for a bit as this is off the 3rd album. Yes he is playing here while she sings.
She sang her heart out. You can tell that there's real emotion and experience behind this rendition. And no trace of autotune needed by one of the best female vocalists of the 90s.
@@bennyrivera4807 Ok so essentially she was trying to date/marry Tony Kanal the bassist. They had a relationship and eventually Tony broke up the relationship even though she wanted to marry him. They had like 28 months scheduled left of their Tragic Kingdom tour. So it was a very awkward time for the band. The song Don't Speak sort of reflected her pain for being rejected.
@@fjrp1147 all the artists remastered some of their live shows, Metallica, the Eagles etc., they took the original sound and clear it, record some of the voices and instruments again to make it sound like this, you bet people who were there won't listen it like you are now, course not.
@@summerenrique That is not what remastered means. Remastered means they go back over the original recordings and well, remaster them. As in adjust levels for different parts of the music. No legitimate artist would actually rerecord over a LIVE PERFORMANCE you must be out of your mind.
I am so thankful my daughter ask me to take her to this tour in 1997. I had no idea how much fun we would have and how much I would enjoy it. Someone at work was talking about Shakira"s 2020 Superbowl performance. I told them I prefer Gwen. The conversation led me here. What sweet memories !!!
That's what was good about the 90s when they stopped and crowd sang and they went back to singing you knew what you heard was there real voice and talent
@@kazbekmairbek5502 I can't help but listen to this live version of this song constantly because there is amount of emotions through her voice and on a positive side, she didn't clip her words. If she did, her singing wouldn't have sounded good and fluent.
@@Tashana61 same. I’m back at this video again for like the hundredth time. 😂 it’s just so bittersweet and beautiful...you can literally feel her emotions.
This song gives me chills. Back when life was as good as it gets and I KNEW IT. N64 right around the corner, Womens Gymnastics Gold at home, I was in a house, my first kiss was not too far away... I was in the 7th grade.. I knew I was in a golden era. That is what made this song soo special... Oh yeah we had Spice Girls, 2 pac, Titanic, Independence Day.. OMG .. this song encapsulates it all.
The fact she sounds so close to her recordings in the releases live is crazy. The talent in this woman, not to mention she looks like she hasn't aged a day in these decades.
It's less her singing and more her style that makes her great. That is part of singing, of course, but THAT is what makes her, not some technical mastery.
....No, it isn't, it's what a band is expected to sound like... except for bands who change it while they're doing live shows, you know, like was done here, where is is not at all like the recording......
Gwen is def one of the best coolest singers of all time. her voice is pure gorgeous and real too often female singers are judged harder than males too, like, for her to have such a cool voice and be technically talented as a vocalist too is like crazy, and shes a female rock band singer, Gwen is an inspiration ✨️ 💗 💖
Everything about this is perfect. The moment 1:08 she lets the crowd take over always gives me goosebumps. You can really feel the pain through her voice and eyes. Wish I knew about them earlier. Although I was born in the late 90s Tragic Kingdom might still be my favorite album of all time.
I’ve seen a few live versions of this song back then, and she tends to pause and takes a break, when the lyrics come up “I really feel that I’m losing my best friend” It’s always the hardest part of failed relationship, losing your best friend and confidant.. seems like those particular lyrics struck home for her.
This is very special because we are witnessing a woman that can never have the life she once had. No Doubt was always "that" band in Orange County via word of mouth...but this was No Doubt headlining a sold out show in their hometown of Anaheim...and nothing would ever be the same. The start of the Tragic Kingdom tour was much smaller to this tail end of the Tragic Kingdom tour wherein the band became mega superstars. I was at this show and this performance always gives me chills.
Yo creo que de todas las versiones de este tema, este es el mas representativo del contexto de la letra, todos y cada uno de los instrumentos seria un pecado agregarle algún detalle, esta versión es perfecta, ella preciosa👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
How powerful to have an artist give up control to audience and just as beautiful to have audience hand it back to artist. The mutual understanding of the pain of love. Great performance.
He's talking about 1:08, where she lets the audience sing a line. And the audience knows to shut up when she starts singing again. It's a painful song because it's about the relationship between Gwen and Tony, the singer and bassist respectively. They're playing a song, together, that's about the end of their previous relationship.
Gwen and Tony Kanal were boyfriend/girlfriend at one time, and when they broke up Gwen was devastated. She was able to put her emotions to pen and paper in the form of music and songs. A majority of the bands songs were written by Gwen and they tell the true story of her pain when she and Tony split up....yet having to see each other every day while they recorded their albums and toured together. She's one strong woman. EDIT : WOW I'VE NEVER HAD A COMMENT OF MINE GET OVER 580 REPLIES !!! lThank you all !!!
legendary performance, still watching this every day in 2024! she gives it her everything and the live version lets you feel the passion of the members and instruments. her vocals are truly amazing
Don't be so low..... Respect..Be. Tolerant....America Its Freee...No. In Russian. Just thinking. Don't be embarrassed 😉😉 You. Country.... Education....
А как же сбежавшая в Израиль Алла Боруховна Пугачёва? Невероятный голос, тембр, внешность, индивидуальность, естественность. И такая настоящая. Как этого не хватает.
Lorrie Smith True..I first had a crush on her when I was a skinny "pimply" teenager and now I am almost in my middle age with grey hair, a paunch and she still looks the same..!!
I agree, she is almost 50 and she looks beautiful. It's too bad she turned into such a diva. Plus all of her music after leaving No Doubt just blows big time.
Fantastic performance, the EQ and sound checking was perfect, sound check and proper EQ will make or break a live performance, this was on point, every member of the band was impeccable, she was faultless and mesmerising ❤
It's hard to really take in the 90s now - the beach bum hair full of glitter, the track pants with a chained wallet... But Gwen's SUPER deep brown eyes and that VOICE... It's a lot to take in.
I will admit, I will cry and die a littler on the inside each time I hear this song. call it an ode to the one who got away and has never left the insides of my mind.
Мне 45 ...первая любовь в прошлом..но эта композиция возвращает в мою молодость, слова знаю наизусть и все плохое забыто...и состояние счастья наполняет меня..Спасибо)))😊
Gwen is not just fashion icon nowadays but she was so iconic back in the day too...She looks real sexy. Everything in this video is so beautiful..That voice reminds me of every single thing that I go through..No Doubt always sounds this famous and this beautiful🌼
I cry when I listen to this song despite never going through her experience lmao, it’s her voice omggg it just makes me feel like I just broke up 😹😹 maddd
She’s so beautiful. I love this song :’) Im not sure if they were broken up yet but I can’t imagine singing this song while your ex was performing with you.
