BTW, Shelby is my 11 year old Husky. She did 15 miles with me in 3 days. I love the support she gave me.

I don't push it with the exercise. Wish I could repeat what a doctor said (on RU-vid) but I became convinced not to "push" the exercise -- and realize that just laying down for a while is NOT a bad thing. I also do some black coffee, which has been shown (with rats) to increase the autophagy, which decreases quite a bit after the third say and just about gone by the fifth day.sd Of course I am not only obese but 70 years old. I might be more into the exercise if I were quite a bit younger.

My Mum used to fast 6 days a week and only buy fish heads to eat and fry them up & she never put any weight on always slim. As for me I'm not going to do what my Mum did I'm going start to think as a hunter-gatherer. Sugar is 40x more addictive than cocaine.

Dude very inspirational like you i have went down this rabbithole in my health. Im gonna be the big 50 this june and dont want to be here your video gave me the hope to get back on it hearing your struggles being the same as mine i have done a 3day fast the longest. Thanks bro again

I would like to add something. My blood pressure is down following this and I feel amazing right now. I’m eating a good sized meal at 1pm everyday. The major change I think it taking potassium. It’s been like happy pills. I had no panic attacks after taking it following the fast. No dizzy spells. It’s amazing.

I have RA, and I control it with fasting. Although I'm still on a low dose of one drug for the RA, I have come off 2 drugs that I was on for it. I also need to eat a plant-based diet to keep it under control.

@SueMoseley could you share how you control your RA through fasting? What’s your fasting schedule and what do you eat between fasts? I have really bad arthritis and the strong drugs are hurting my liver. I’m willing to try anything and right now I’m 28 hrs into my first 72 hr fast. Your post gave me hope

@@quietandmildone In 2016 Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel prize for medicine for his work on autophagy, which is the way the body deals with waste at a cellular level. One of the things he discovered was that in autoimmune disease the autophagy mechanism is defective, but that you can force it to work by fasting. The same year Prof. Valter Longo from the University of Southern California was nominated for the Nobel prize for medicine for his work on fasting. One of the things he discovered was that a 72 hour fast will trigger the death of defective immune cells which are then replaced with healthy cells when you start eating again. You must eat healthy foods for this to be effective. I only do a long fast if I am in pain and then I need to fast for at least three days to get back into remission. Often I've had to fast for 5 days, or even 7 days on a couple of occasions when I was in severe pain and unable to function. As long as I maintain a completely vegan diet I can maintain remission. I know some people maintain remission with a meat-based diet, so I assume that everyone would need to work out by trial and error what is the perfect diet for them. I cannot even eat traces of animal products without ending up in severe pain. I eat loads of vegetables, legumes and nuts. I do also eat some processed food, such as some ready made vegan pestos, vegan cheese, low carb vegan meat alternatives - simply because food gets boring if you get too radical. I also eat fruit - mostly berries. I did try existing only on vegan junk food once to prove my case to the critics who said my improvement was due to eating lots of veg, and I was able to maintain remission, although it totally trashed my health in other ways and it is not something I would ever repeat. I use extra virgin olive oil as my go to oil for everything - even for sauteing. I supplement with B12, D3, K2 and omega 3's from seaweed. I am convinced that it is what you cut out of your diet that matters, not so much what you include, so finding what foods make you worse is key. An elimination diet could be useful to you, as could keeping a food diary of everything you eat, alongside a record of your pain levels to see if a pattern emerges. Unless I have accidentally consumed animal products (I'm fanatical about label reading now) the only times I flare is when I'm triggered by some other substance (the covid vaccines caused me to flare and I needed to do a long fast on every occasion to get over it), or if I come down with a virus. I do intermittent fasting frequently. I will fast between 16 to 18 hours. That's long enough to trigger a bit of autophagy, but not long enough to get into remission if I'm in a flare.

If you're on medications blood pressure, diabetes med etc, talk to your doctor before doing any kind of fast.

A five day or longer fast shouldn't be done more than once a month or two. Consistently doing 16 to 18 hour fast are best, they can be done daily. And you will see many benefits if you're currently on a keto or Carnivore diet. Drink water and add a little pink salt to it to taste. That's all I use for electrolytes. My longest fast has been 7 days. Don't do any kind of fast if you're on medications of any kind. Talk to your doctor first.
