Mike short vid, but great content and trouble shooting. You nailed it as always, believe me, I'm learning a shit load from you and I will continue to watch you because your the best tech to learn from besides being a lunatic lol
Thanks Mikey pipes for showing the professional method of working with the homeowner. Since you didn’t show the entire video I can’t determine what was discussed, did you include the points you made leading up to the negotiations damper motor gauges tanks and pressure relief valves or just the pressure reducing valve?
Good morning Mike Aren’t the vent dampers installed improperly? Doesn’t that alter the draft hoods? Just wondering? Did that job ever get inspected originally? Enjoy your videos! Retired after 58 years of P&H sometimes I miss it but not jobs like that! Best to you. Cape cod John
👋 my boiler is for steam a US about 4 yr old is working 💪 but I notice my vent is stuck in the open position even when the boiler is off still open and kick on fine when ever heat is need..with the vent staying open at all time will that cause any future problems to my boiler..thanks
Good evening Mikey. On another video I believe you stated that many automatic vent dampers go bad and the replacement ROI is just not there. My plumber has told me there are probably a million of these that are locked in the open position on Long Island for that very reason.
@@tristanschaper281 I hope it lasts a while for you and the family. Mine has been locked open for over 10 years! I did this after I replaced it one time and given my plumbers advice.
@@PipeDoctor The Eye was not fun. it sounded like a freight train with demons throwing cinderblocks off of it going over 140 MPH. Need a new roof and gutters and some storm shutters.
@@scottvolage1752 I have since moved to a new house with impact windows but after Wilma or Katrina (I forgot which) I also needed hurricane shutters pre impact windows. On the smaller windows I did the accordions but they had a new product at the time for the bigger stuff. It was really strong netting/ see through mesh. They put anchors on the patio floor and above the french doors. They were angled so if anything hit them it was at a 45* angle and it would bounce off. They can also put anchors in the grass. They cement tubes in. I also had them covering my front door. It was nice because you could still see out of them. If those are still around it might be worthwhile looking into them. Impact windows though are the holy grail. I also have a 22kw generator. After being without electric never again. You will get through it. I know how that feels like but little by little things get back to normal. Have to go over to Naples in Feb at Vanderbilt for a convention. They are saying it's still on so I think that's that's good news. Take care and be well.
@@scotts4125 The adjuster was amazed at the damage to the metal storm shutters. The angles make them stronger but there is a dent in one that he was amazed that the window survived behind it. Just blessed that I'm not hurt ( I did my research when I bought the house and its not in a Flood zone, but we still had like 18" of rain) and house was built in 07 and had up to date building codes that kept the roof on the house.
Question on the vent damper could you of just flipped the switch on the motor from automatic to manual to test it out. And I got a tech tip for you. I carry a back up 30 psi gauge with me that I hook up to a boiler drain to confirm boiler pressure it has helped me out on many occasions. My gauge goes up to 30 psi.
Very good Mike, You stayed professional the whole time and stayed calm, and made the customer know about the situation, I think your making moves, Good luck with Carolina, I think everything is a joke sometimes too, But if your going to run multiple businesses, You have to be serious to the customers and sometimes the employees, except Peter, haha Just kidding.
@@chrisc9389 ☺️ I like money too but I have a life outside of work. I don’t live the trade like you guys. I wanna be with my friends and family as much as I can. I get into a different mode during the winter though. I’ll say till 10pm to Finnish all the service calls so they don’t get pushed back on the on call guy. But, like I said, I want to enjoy life as much as I can.
Vent Damper installed in wrong Location should be upstream diverter, , not saying that what caused the failure , but its still in wrong local ... wow one water feed for two boilers ... how cheap can you be geez Another interesting Video/Call
It's hard to imagine that a customer would be ok with leaving 2 boilers leaking a steady flow of water onto the floor, when you could have fixed this for him.
Waitaminut...... They had to pay for your min/Trip whatever charge, and inspection.......... what is another 200+/- and labor to replace the valve ? Why call you in the first place, if not authorized to proceed ? I am being rhetorical, because I get this sort of nonsense too. Then they get authorization later, and end up paying another trip charge. My guess, homeowner is wealthy. On the amusing side, the damper is ready for Halloween....... making squeaky hinge noises.
