❥ Hello my lovely eco-buddies! Do you always want to make bread but are too afraid of messing up or having to knead it for such a long time? Well, if you have a microwave, I have your solution.
This quick microwave bread is so simple, you cannot go wrong!
❥ INGREDIENTS:
1 tsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups flour
150 ml warm water (105°F or 40°C)
1/8 tsp sugar/agave/maple syrup (to feed the yeast)
1/2 tsp salt (and any other herbs/spices you'd like)
1/2 tsp olive oil for the crust (optional)
❥ DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large glass or ceramic container (that has a lid), sprinkle in your active dry yeast. Pour in the warm water and sprinkle in the sugar and cover with the lid for about 8 minutes.
2. Check the yeast. It should be bubbly and foamy. If it isn't, your yeast is dead and you need new yeast.
3. Pour in the flour and salt (and any other seasonings/herbs you might like) and mix thoroughly to combine. The dough should be sticky.
4. Put the lid on loosely and keep in a draft-free area (like your oven, but don't turn it on) for around 1 to 1.5 hours.
5. The dough should have doubled in size. With the lid off, pop this in the microwave for 3-4 minutes.
6. The bread is actually done at this point. If you want to develop the crust, you can brush on a little bit of olive oil on both sides and stick it in the oven at around 450°F or on the toast setting for around 5 minutes more. Check on it to make sure it does not burn.
Let cool and enjoy just as you would normal bread! You can store this for around 1-2 days on the counter or up to a week in the fridge.

@user-hv5jv9gb6c
@user-hv5jv9gb6c Год назад
You can do this with baking powder for an instant quick bread. It's real hard to beat bread ready in 10 minutes. I do it all the time to go with soups, for garlic bread, or even a quick pizza to kill a craving. I do find adding a bit garlic and onion powder along with the salt to the mix drastically improves the flavor.. :)

@@Meandsushiroll Yep, Use 1 tsp or 1 1/2tsp per cup of flour. Whatever the amount for biscuits is. It usually says on the can. Milk is much better then water. You want a fairy thick batter so the gas produced by the baking powder doesn't escape...

Hi Heather! Thank you so much for your sweet feedback! I truly appreciate it. The measurements of the container don't really matter but you want something large enough to hold at least 4 cups in volume. Make sure it's microwave-safe and you should be good to go! @AhSustainableLife

☺️ yes - the microwave cooks it through completely and it's ready to eat. The convection oven afterwards is really just for a crust, since that cannot be done in the microwave.
@maxscott3349
@maxscott3349 4 года назад
@@AhSustainableLife You can sort of brown stuff in a microwave if you know what you're doing. You have to use non microwave safe cookware (because microwave safe stuff is invisible to microwaves) so it'll pick up the heat and transfer it to whatever you're cooking from the outside. Of course, the problem is that glass cookware tends to explode when rapidly heated, hence being "not microwave safe". So really, what we're looking for is a magical super material with good heat conductance, while simultaneously low electrical conductance to prevent sparking, that is visible to microwaves, ductile or strong enough to stand up to rapid heating, as well as having a high melting point, and probably most importantly, cheap enough to buy a lot of. Until then, making use of an oven is probably the simplest solution.

@dr.shukdevpandey3564
@dr.shukdevpandey3564 3 года назад
@@maxscott3349 Haven't tried it yet cause I just got the idea reading your comment but how about covering the baking bowl with an inverted lid and pouring some cooking oil into it. The oil will heat up and should assist grilling of the food down below in the bowl? The heat insulation capability of the lid might be the deciding factor though 😅
@maxscott3349
@maxscott3349 3 года назад
@@dr.shukdevpandey3564 That's an interesting idea, but you may need a lot to absorb a significant enough portion of the microwaves to do a whole lot. It may do the trick, though. Or maybe we could just submerge the cookware containing the bread in a large bowl of water, which would recieve most of the heat... Then again, if something besides the food is absorbing all the heat and conducting it to the food, we lose the advantage of microwaves altogether, because everything would take most of normal oven speeds, or close to it. It's hard to say without some actual research.

fyi, this is how you make the perfect panko at home. it is being cooked from the inside out like actual panko which is electrocuted when cooked. try it. dry this bread from the video out but dont make it crust just dry it after microwaving it naturally. then crumble it up and it is more like panko than bread crumbs. fyi, bread crumbs from de-crusted white bread is not panko or close to it, this bread is. imo, anyone who thumbed down this video is just being pretentious

Kinda true, but not really. My first thought was like what's really the point of making it in the microwave and putting it into the oven later to crisp up. I've looked at this because I have no oven in my new place and I want to bake some bread. But actually, this way of making bread is good because bread is A LOT puffier because there is no crust holding the dough from rising more.
@_stealth_y
@_stealth_y 3 года назад
No, no, this is not how this works lmao Also, it’s pretty normal to put extra steam into the oven to slow down crust development and therefore letting it rise more.
@neongooroo
@neongooroo 3 года назад
@@_stealth_y it is how it works. And steam isn't used to prevent crust development, it's exactly the opposite. Dude, check your facts. When extra steam is in the oven it makes the environment much more humid which transfers heat fasters which dries out the dough faster. This is why steaming is used when cooking Baguettes, for example. They are extremely small and thin and without steam, they cook so fast that they can't brown nicely enough. If you say such a wrong statement about the steam, no wonder you don't understand how the microwaved bread works
