@@luispolanco5966 Which doesn't work if you want to play in paper tournaments. I will concede that proxies should be legal for reserve list cards and of course they're fine for EDH and kitchen table magic.
I just found this channel today by pure chance, due to finally getting round to learning about Draft, and now I'm at the end of a 5 hour binge of your content. Well played. You seem like a really chill, wholesome person, but still passionate. And your laid back enthusiasm has convinced me to finally start getting back into MTG :3
When prof mentioned the upgrades. I remember that I have all of these except obosh. I guess my modern-pauper-legacy deck is now convertible to Pioneer now.
Basically. I had most of this already outside of a few pieces (it would actually cost me more to buy into the budget version than the upgraded version) I was sad he wanted me to give up my Skewers till I saw the upgrades segment.
Fun deck tech, Prof! Back when Pioneer events were being held, I remember having fun experimenting brewing with 4-Color Energy (Glint-Sleeve Siphoner is a heck of a card) and Goblins at my local FNM. The format seemed like it has a lot of fun brewing space.
You know, I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw Monastery Swiftspear, Ghitu Lavarunner, and Wizard's Lightning - I played 12 bolt in modern for a while, and those cards were the all stars Viashino Pyromancer also made me smile, as I remember playing burn shortly after Guilds of Ravnica was released
I love Crew3! I listen to every one of their episodes. My deck submission was even featured on one of their episodes. Ricky is a Magic genius and I hope you keep using him for more and more Pioneer deck techs. It’s my favorite format. Thank you for supporting it in this manner, even though I know you prefer Modern and Pauper to it. But for someone like myself that does not have a large card pool prior to Shadows Over Innistrad (the set I started on) Pioneer is the best fit for me. I know you recently asked in your Splinter Twin video “why does Pioneer even exist?” It exists for the ‘Many Magic the Gathering Players’ like me who have not been playing Magic since the 90s. There are a lot of us. We need and want Pioneer. It’s a good thing. As you often say, a diversity of formats is vital to the game.
I've been playing about the same deck since pioneer started. I run Runaway Steamkin and Experimental Frenzy. Fun deck. Look forward to trying the changes. Bonecrusher enables ferocious, something to think about.
I was going to make some snappy remark about how dare you make it $25 and not $10 for the "true budget players" but honestly this looks really well done and fun, very similar to mine, but I never even considered trying to fit Obosh in there. Cheers Prof!
Darn, I've just gotten into Commander, I promised myself that I would ditch the other formats for a little while, but now here I am, checking what of those cards I already have! Funny thing is, I've never quite enjoyed monored decks, but this one looks interesting, time to give it a shot
There's a subtle advantage in playing with identical lands. If your opponent somehow sees your hand with a mountain, they'll never know for sure if the mountain you played is something he's seen or just topdecked.
Waiting on the DOUBLE rant video from you and Vince. Found some info this morning that the VIP EDITION will be 1 PACK at approximately $120 with 35 cards.
From disturbor pages such as Southern Hobby: "The VIP edition will apparently be a single 35-card pack (Wizards is calling that a 'box'), and there will be 4 'boxes' per 'inner-case', and then 4 inner-cases per master-case. This VIP edition may likely be very limited, perhaps even at a lower ratio than (normal collector:draft) boosters. VIP will likely be priced by Wizards in such a way that it equates to a ~$120 EMSRP (i.e. an Equivalent msrp / used for manufacturer's who don't officially use 'MSRPs', but their pricing structures show the info anyway)"
I dunno, I think people are just throwing prices around right now. Not enough information since it was done in a live-stream with no official article. Here's a site that lists the VIP as a 3-pack set for around $35-$40. Around $10-12 a pack. Personally, I think that if the normal packs are priced normally then these are good for their price & a great product; since the VIP packs are essentially collectors boosters.
I would like to see a pioneer flash deck. Dimir got some pieces from ikoria, but I am curious as to what is the best color combo and build for a flash deck in pioneer
Goblin Dark-dwellers is a 4/4 with menace that lets you cast an instant or sorcery with 3 cmc or less from your graveyard. Yeah it's 5 Mana but it's also only .50
2:27 remember that 8-rack deck tech that Prof did all those years ago and how he mentioned Necrogen Mists was only about $0.50... and now it's $3.58, *wink wink, nudge nudge* (buy now if you're planning to in the future, buy now)
Prof is the best person Merfok wizard beast Angel with stamped deathouchlife link an industructible of course. Prof is like the dark magician or Yami yugi
Im surprised you didn't add skewer the critics, that seems to be a perfect fit in this deck, your slippin' proff.....lol Edit: wrote that before the video ended 😣😐😢🤫
I'm trying to get into Pioneer with a homebrew...but I basically build the shell of the deck, look at the 12 empty slots, and give up only to restart from scratch several months later.
The real question is how do you modify your sideboard to fit with Obosh? Which card do you drop? Do you change out the 2 cmc cards for odd cmc cards, or do you just accept that you won't always be able to play Obosh outside of game 1?
Remember that Stomp says that damage can't be prevented. This helps you get past some creatures with protection from red by stomping your opponent's face with it, allowing your creatures to deal damage to those would be blocking creatures with protection. The other upgrade is from Shock to Wild Slash since Bonecrusher has 4 power. It's just a beast of a card and probably my favorite from Eldrain.
But... That doesn't get by protection from red? Protection doesn't care about whether or not damage can be prevented. It cares if the card is the certain color. I agree with you on the other points, good insight!
@@Frostgiantbutsmall Actually, Protection does care about that because it prevents damage from sources of that colour. So in the case of combat damage (Or Anger the Gods), Pro-Red creatures would take damage normally from said sources after Stomp has resolved (Since Protection can no longer prevent it). If you want to verify, check out The Gather page for Stomp.
I might be too late to get into magic but i think I'll try pioneer specially since i bought the 2019 lightning aggro challenger deck that is kind of a perfect starter deck for this format :D since most of the cards you said are in it... Well idk if it will do well still since this video was released some years ago... But at least I'll have fun :D
ah satyr firedancer was a good ol addition to my modern mid range red deck wins to slap tarmogoyfs in the face and especially hilarious fireballing somebody for 10 to face and 10 to an emrakul in my gruul variation of the deck lol
Huh... I just realized that if you bought cavalcade charge and hazoret aggro you could just... you know... build the entire deck (almost) was that intentional?
Prof can i have an opinion? How would.you rank this precon commander decks from lowest to highest Breed Lethality Eternal Bargain Mind Seize Power Hungry Swell the Host Ps: Planning to save up for either one of them😊
@Golden Griffon are you kidding me. I have been playing mono red since KTK and while I have tried a few different decks along the way, I always go back to mono red (or red splash a color).
thank you professor, even if my friends have to much pride to let me play deck found on the internet, i am a fan of this deck and the beyond belief (Rakdos) one. Heck, maybe one day, i am going to get one and play them on there back. Sorry for my english professor, i am a french canadian.
What card are you removing from the sideboard for Obosh since it just a sideboard card if I understand companion correctly, if I wrong thank you to whoever clarifies that for me
