I just bought a Ford F150 Platinum Powerboost. Love the truck, except for the dump truck sound, when I back up. Glad for the information. I just ordered adapter. All the other videos I watched, never mentioned anything about this, but it does make sense. Thank you for the information sir. Stay safe.
Yes. Crazy how quiet these truck actually are without the fake noise coming from the speaker. Glad you like it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please subscribe.
Thank you again for a great video as we just installed our kit over this past weekend and what a difference it made. No more embarrassing sounds when backing up out of our driveway or anywhere else for that matter. Never realize how artificial our electric only sounded until we installed the kit and heard the difference. We are now a little bit more mindful of people not hearing us coming down the street and electric mode and being extra cautious and both in front of us and behind us. Been enjoying all your videos keep up the great work!
Hi Joe. For the cost, this mod is one of the easiest to install and recommend. It really is a night and day difference of how quiet this truck can be. I too am more mindful when backing up or cruising quietly down the road or in a parking lot. Thank you so much for letting me know how much you enjoy my videos. I appreciate your kind words. I have several videos in the works. Stay tuned. Thanks again and take care.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! So annoyed at that stupid noise. I understand the reason, but the quiet will make all my neighbors and the wildlife so much happier.
OMGsh, thank you SO SO SO much for this video! I bought my powerboost because I was in the market for a class B motorhome and couldn’t afford it. I traded in my 2017 XLT Crew a the perfect time, 2021, got 43K for my truck and ZERO percent financing! Now a Travel trailer is a more acceptable option. But, Duuuuuuuuude, that back up beep. So embarrassing! Stresses me. Like, “hey guysI I’m backing up over here! Yeah, YOU.. Way over there! I’m backing up! No, not a delivery driver, just backing up.” Ugh! And the neighbors being aware of when I leave. Not to mention every time I arrive at an RV Park or campground it’s almost always in the middle of the night. I inquired at the dealership and they told me they were not aware of a way to disable it, that it was a new law. 😮😮😮 I ordered the part the DAY I saw this video! Got the part yesterday, and installed today. With an adjustable wrench. Haha! I am so pleased! If you are a woman with ZERO mechanical experience. YOU CAN DO THIS!! Took 10 minutes, just like the video said. No more whining sound when in electric. I’m doing a happy dance and no more stress when backing. I could just hug you for this video. 🙌🏻🙌🏻💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻
I just bought a used 2022 Lightning Pro with a much, much louder backing noise than what yours has. I could easily live with that sound you have; we also have a Mach e which is very similar to your Lightning backup sound, and again no problem. When I simply disconnected the cable on the Lightning, I got an error message right away and the rear camera was deactivated. Sooo, I have ordered the device you are displaying here and for the life of me I hope it works. Thank you.
When I first heard this dump truck noise, I complained to Ford about it, and they said they could not legally turn it off. Evidently, there was a law instituted in 2019 mandating hybrids and electric cars make some kind of noise at the slower speeds so people would not walk out in front of them. The service writer said they had this conversation with other customers before, notifying them that they accept the liability should someone get hit by a vehicle with this noise defeated. My Hybrid RAV 4 makes a spaceship noise as well. I wrapped the speaker with duct tape and plastic trying to muffle the noise, but it is still pretty loud. I just bought one of these and am going to install it. It's the backup beeping that does it for me. Thanks for the video.
I don't understand why these gotta be so loud. ICE isn't that loud and if that's acceptable hybrids and EVs shouldn't emit such loud noise. This is going to suck bad once hybrid and EV adoption rate increases.
I love the product and the video. Ford Maverick is definitely a pain to install but a necessity. I understand the liability but if I’m backing up, I’m going to look around me. Sound does not always make others cars/pedestrians pay attention. If I’m driving at low speeds in all electric mode, I can still brake faster if someone steps out onto the road. But regardless of noise, EV, gas, or hybrid, if you walk around with AirPods in 24/7 this won’t stop anything.
When I bought my first ford edge in 2020, they said it detects other cars passing or coming but does not detect humans if they walk next to you or behind you. Can there be a way to at least lower the loud noise of it if we can’t “legally” disable it? Like for daily driving noise. Not off road
@@Globeguy1 because ice cars make more noise when speeding up. EV have to make some noise when accelerating. But the backup beep is awful! seriously !!!
Thanks for the video. I'm buying one of these when my truck comes in. The backup doesn't bother me so much, but that fake engine noise is obnoxiously loud.
Both drove me crazy after a few months. This truck is so much quieter with the mod. So much happier with it. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
Thank you, this noise was actually gonna be a decoding factor of whether or not I could buy one. Thanks to this I think I might get one of these trucks.
Just like your excellent video on installing your radar detector this video is A lifesaver. Whenever we’re backing up or driving through our subdivision I always find it fairly embarrassing when people look at you strangely as though they’re expecting a totally different vehicle to go by. Just ordered our unit as well and it is on the way and we should have it in several days. Thank you once again for another truly excellent video.
Thanks again Joe. Appreciate your feedback and nice comments. You will love this mod. The truck is SO MUCH quieter. No more fake “engine” noise. It’s super sneaky mode. Thanks again. Please subscribe and share the word about my videos. Take care. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Is there anyway to turn off the sound of the truck beeping loudly if you get out for a second while it is running, and you bring the key fob with you? It starts to violently beep really loud. Anyway to get that off? Or any product you know of to change that?@@mitchcox
Just one comment on tie wrapping the resistor kit to the frame rail. I have run into a couple problems at the dealership with this kit being visible to the technician doing service under my F150. In both cases they wanted to remove the device and replug the connector into the speaker thinking it was the cause for unrelated issues. The last time this happened the tech. ended up breaking the connector lead to the internal resistor in the device and I had to buy another kit from Will to replace it. Bottom line, hide and tie wrap the device so it is less visible.
I was originally worried about this at first but nearly 3 years later and it’s been to the dealer several times for oil changes and recalls. Not once did they mention it or mess with it.
I wasn’t too fond of the back up beeper either. And the truck is much quieter overall which I like. Thanks for watching and please help me out and subscribe.
It works! Go ahead and take the whole radiator support bracket off and get as much room as you can to reach the locking tab on top of the wiring clip. You have to do this by feel but It's closer to the wire side than the speaker. Press down and pull it off. 15 min. max install time. The silence afterwards is beautiful!
Mitch thank you so very much for this mod the only complaint I have was try to release the plug from the horn it was almost impossible to get my finger on top to release the plug but with a couple of tools I manage to release the plug but after was said and done it was well worth it to drive in Peace and quiet I am looking forward to anymore mods you have for the f150 love the content on f150
Yes, the plug on top is a bit difficult to squeeze but once you get it, the rest is easy. I agree, well worth the little effort. So quiet now. Thanks for your support. More videos coming soon.
@@mitchcox yes it was tough to get to I use,a screw driver with a nail puller end but once I got it installed I love this idea that you suggested works great all I heard is my tires on the road what a pleasure not hearing the annoying electric wine thank you so much I really appreciate it
Thanks so much for this idea I hate the whiny noise I order mine today can’t wait to install it love the f-150 videos keep it coming on new ideas to improve your f-150 I have a 2021 f-150 powerboost limited loaded love the truck always try to improve on it thanks for the video I pass on your idea to other powerboost owners
Thank you Charlie!! This is a great mod, makes the truck so much quieter. thanks for sharing with your fellow Powerboost owners. Tell them to come on over and subscribe to my channel. : ) Take care. let me know if there is anything else you want to see on my channel.
From One power boost on it to another here’s a mod you might like since catalytic converter thefts are on the rise from Talon’s garage 2009-2022 F-150 Transmission Skid/Catalytic Converter Anti-Theft Plate i’m getting one for my power boost it’s cheaper to buy this mod have to replace a Catalytic converter
MEGAOHM works great, no warning lights anywhere. It took a little more time to install because of my fat hands. The hardest part was unplugging the factory connection.
Yeah the tab on top is a bit tricky to reach, but like you said, that was the hardest part. Device works great and no issues so far. Thanks for watching. Please consider subscribing. Take care.
Awesome! Happy to hear it! Thanks for watching and commenting. No issues at all either with software updates. I updated my truck last week and no issues.
Hey Mitch, any ideas on using the speaker with a custom sound board of sound clips? I'm thinking themes like Star Wars (droids or vehicle), cartoons, etc.? I wonder how much power it would need/handle. Thank you for a very clear video and for keeping the sound levels similar throughout.
Thanks for the great compliments. I am not sure how difficult it would be to add a sound board. It would be fun, but the work and effort to make it happen may not make it worth it. Maybe someone will make it happen.
I just bought a similar item for my CR-V. Hybrid. I get that the system is there for a reason, it's by law, and I should leave it on and do the responsible thing... but I'm so embarrassed when I come home late at night and announce to the neighbors close by that HE'S BACKING UP HIS NEW HYBRID. WATCH OUT, PEOPLE! HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
If you go that route you have to disconnect the speaker, forscan just turns off the error messages you would see on your dash. Using the module above makes the truck think everything is working and there are no error messages.
Thanks for watching Bob. Really appreciate you letting me know that you liked my video. Please click the like button and subscribe to my channel. It’s free to you but helps my channel grow. Take care.
Yes, just verify with the seller that it will work. I am pretty sure it will but I am not the seller. Just a guy that installed it and liked it so much I made a video. I wish I got commission from every sale that I have sent them!! ha ha..
Thank you for taking the time to do such a thorough and easy to follow video. I found the product to be extremely well-made. Thanks for your instruction. The install took less time than watching the video itself! Well done. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Yes. This product works great and seems to hold us to the elements just fine. Also had zero issues when I took my vehicle in for service. Thanks again for watching. Take care.
Ordered for a 2024 f150 hybrid powerboost keep ya posted on install , thanks Mitch , a lot of comments on safety my truck has cameras everywhere! I use them daily and am aware of my surroundings! Beep or no beep !! Great video Mitch
Tesla noise is so subtle and pleasing , you almost don’t notice it. Maverick is a crappy sound, real annoying after a few minutes of driving it for the first time. Real bad pulling into a garage.
I agree. Something so small and inexpensive makes such a great impact. Truck is so much quieter now. Highly recommend (for off road use only) of course!
So I bought the speaker delete for my 2022 Ford escape. Ill report back here when I install it. My only issue is the location of the front speaker and im hoping it isn't a pain in the ass or almost impossible to get to. But the rear looks easy as pie
Interesting, on the F-150, one speaker in the front does both. Let me know how it goes. It is really night and day how quiet this truck is now without all that fake electric "engine" noise. Please keep me updated, I am interested in hearing how you like it. Thanks. Take care and please subscribe to my channel.
so instead of removing the radiator support I inserted a hook type screw driver to go on top of the connector release and a flat head screw driver at the bottom to push the connector out
Warning Manufacture links this video for the Maverick. It’s an absolute nightmare to install. Absolutely no room to get to it. You almost have to takeoff the front bumper and maybe you can get it from that angle, but after hour and a half trying to get to it, I gave up. Not sure if they’ll even take it back. They have a horrible return policy, basically No, SOL.
Ok , this is fantastic. Now for something no one mentions , but just as annoying, that fargin’ double beep when the engine is on and you shut the door . Any remedy?
After a few months I am tired of hearing it on my 22 powerboost, I also back down a road every morning and do not want to bother the few neighbors that are around.
Thank you very much. Never made any sense. If I’m backing up the horn I’ll be in the back. But I guess that’s one afford greater ideas that I do not agree with her.
Ha ha. Yes. It is annoying. I get that it’s a safety feature but it seems like they could have just applied the fake engine noise or something instead of the bonk, bonk, bonk noise. Thanks for watching and I hope you are enjoying your truck. Take care.
There are many electric and hybrid vehicles that came out before the last couple years when these sound generators start to be installed. I have never had any of them sneak up on me. I can hear the tires on the pavement. What's even more ridiculous, is that high-end internal combustion vehicles actually make less noise now than full electrics, due to this ridiculous law.
I have a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid that makes the fake electric motor noise. However, when I put it in reverse, there is no backup tone like demonstrated here. I am aware that it is only heard on 2022 and newer Escape Hybrids, but is it possible to add the backup beep?
Just placed my order!!. How do I delete all the other annoying alarms like the door open or seatbelt alarms! So frustrating when I’m working on the ranch, opening doors, jumping in and out constantly.
Just got a new 2022 ford escape titanium hybrid and makes this loud noise when accelerating, but calms when it says "electric driving", can this bypass fix that please? @mitch
Email the company that makes this device and ask them. They should be able to let you know if this device will work for you. Thanks for watching and good luck.
I have a new Ford Lightning Pro on order. Do you know how to remove the speaker? I know it's not necessary to remove it but I already know it's going to drive me nuts having it on there still.
You can’t remove it without causing some errors in the system. This is the reason for the speaker bypass. It prevents the speaker from being used while the truck still thinks it’s working as normal. For the cost, it’s worth the purchase. Thanks for watching and I hope my video helped you out in some way. Take care and enjoy your Lightning.
I hate tge backup beep but don't mind the engine noise sound. *I wish there was a kit to just remove the backup beep but leave the engine. I have a few Toyota hybrids with a space sound and im fine with that also. The backup beeping is ridiculous.
Pretty quick delivery from what I remember. You install it and enjoy the piece and quiet. Don’t have to uninstall and reinstall every day. For off road use only is a disclaimer to eliminate any liability.
Well this mod will get rid of both, there are many easy ways to add a backup beeper to a truck, so you could remove both this way, and then add a cheap backup beeper wire to the reverse lights.
Most likely if it uses the same speaker. Send a message off to Megaohm on their website and ask them. They are usually pretty quick to respond. Thanks for watching. Take care. Please consider helping me out and subscribing.
I purchased the Megaohm adapter and have struggled to get it connected to the speaker wiring, it simply won’t lock in. It’s not making a connection as I get the warning on the dash. Any advise? I’ve got everything taped up to keep moisture out.
Did you get it connected, if not reach out the Megaohm support. My Megaohm adapter connected to the wiring with no problems. the connecter snapped into place. the hardest part for me was disconnecting the speaker, the button was on top of the connector and it was a tight space to begin with. Other than that, I had no issues. Sorry you are having troubles. I would email Megaohm.
Hey there Mitch, before I give you a "thumbs-up" for this video, will you please investigate and subsequently put it out if this mod will void the new truck warranty? Thank you and I look forward for you to update this video for that issue. Thanks again.
I am thinking not. You are unplugging one thing to plug another. Similar to swapping headlight bulbs to LED’s. The truck doesn’t know it’s there. It thinks the speaker is still there. This can easily be unplugged and plugged back into the factory speaker. I don’t sell these or get commission so no worries if you don’t buy it. I have had mine installed for a while and had no issues when I took it into ford for recalls or oil changes. Hope this helps.
Magnuson Moss warranty act states that it is illegal to void the warranty due to aftermarket parts unless you can prove that the aftermarket part directly caused the issue in question. I can't come up with any way that this could even theoretically cause any issues with any system that you care about on the truck, therefore I would say from a legal warranty standpoint you are perfectly safe. That said, if you are in a collision at low speed with a pedestrian with this removed, it is possible that some lawyer will find you at fault due to the lack of the pedestrian warning sound. I still plan to install one though.
Thanks for this. I hate that back up noise. I can’t pin point the fake engine noise that Iv seen people on forums talking about. I have a 2022 powerboost and my dad has a 2022 and my brother has a 2022 5.0 he is going to supercharge for our channel. Check us out and you can see upgrades we make. Great channel man Coleculture automotive is the channel
The fake electric “engine” noise is coming from the same speaker that is under the front bumper. You can hear the difference in my video. Night and day difference. This enables “super sneaky mode”. Thanks for watching. I will sub you. Sub me back. Thanks man. Take care.
I knew you were “a Cole” after a few sentences, I was like, “wait a minute, there’s only so many triple F150 family’s on RU-vid, that’s gotta be Cole Culture Brother!” lol
Idk a beep beep beep seems better than a BEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEP🤷♂️ - An off and on feature should be available to turn it off when you get home and turn it on when I'm running errands.
I don’t have a Mach e but I would think so. Just look under the front bumper and see if you see the speaker. Please report back and let others know. Thanks. Take care.
I am not sure. They are based out of Michigan. They have a contact me section on their website and they were pretty quick to respond when I contacted them. Give that a try. Good luck!!
Same for you. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Been driving for 30+ years and so far so good. Plus the truck had a backup camera and sensors if you are about to hit something. It will even brake for you.
It will trigger a bunch of error messages in the system and on your cluster. The module tricks the truck into thinking the speaker is still attached and working as designed.
Not that I am aware of. It’s simple to undo. You just unplug the device and plug the speaker back in. No alerts on the dash, no error codes, etc. the device is configured to make the truck think that the speaker is still there, that nothing changed. I have also taken my truck in for the insulation recall and no one noticed or said anything about this device. No issues at all. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe.
It should work with your vehicle. Visit the link in the description and send them an email to verify. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to my channel.
You can do it that way but if you ever take it to the dealer and they hook the computer up to it. They will see that it is disconnected. And see you modified the settings. At that point they could refuse to do any warranty work. With the mod. There is no alerts or error messages that pop up. No settings to modify.
@@mitchcoxthey could refuse to do the warranty work, but they would legally be in the wrong. The law states that the only way you can void a warranty, is if you can prove in court that the modification the customer made was the direct cause of the problem in question. So unless you bring the truck in and ask them to fix that speaker under warranty, the fact that you've disabled that speaker should not come up.
@@mitchcox Hi Mitch. Absolutely heartbreaking loss last Sunday. I’m from Rochester, NY, and have been a fan since the mid-1960s. My Dad first took me and my 2 brothers to AFL BILLS’ games in War Memorial Stadium (the “Old Rockpile”) in Buffalo. This last loss was much much worse, for me, than the Scott Norwood “wide right” Super Bowl loss to the NY Giants in 1991:((.
Yeah. I have been a fan since the late 80's with Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Cornelius Bennet, etc... those were good times!! I am in KY so I have never made it up to Buffalo for a game. Would love too one day!! Cincinnati is the closest they come to me. I always buy tix when they come to Cincy, but it has been a few years since they played them during the regular season.
When you hit and kill a blind person who steps out in your path because they did not hear a vehicle you will figure out that is the reason for this noise.
It gets very annoying after having it for a while. First few days I wasn’t too bothered by it. After a month, began to get annoyed with it. Worth the money adding the mod. Plus it eliminates the fake “engine” noise and makes the truck so much more quiet overall.
