One cool thing you'll notice as you keep listening to songs from this series is that many songs (especially in the first 2 games) will incorporate what is called the Zako theme, which is the main theme of the series, a simple melody that shows up in many songs throughout the series, this one included.

This one plays in the stage where you fight Margaret (the boss who sings Philistine, the previous NMH2 song). You climb up a huge supermarket killing a bunch of punks while this one blast in the background. Also some contex of the song itself: Most of NMH2 soundtrack is taken from the Dark Side album from the original game, Suda51 (who is a HUGE Punk grunge fan) filled the album with songs which couldnt fit in the game and mixes of NMH1 soundtrack from guest artists. Hell, the title NO MORE HEROES is taken from The Stranglers song of the same name, on of Suda51 favorite bands.

Ayyy was looking forward to this one. Glad you liked it! This song singlehandedly got me into No More Heroes. Didn't know a thing about the game. My friend just played it for me once and I bought it straight away. No More Heroes is a punk & metal lover's haven, but it respects all genres of music in some way or another. Very experimental sometimes too.

that motif with the electric guitar is the main theme of the game and gets used in a LOT of the nmh ost and it's sick for it this game's ost is raw

First off, just came across your channel and I am absolutely loving everything you do! I have loved video game music as long as I've lived video games, so this is all great! Keep rocking and doing what you do, my dude!👍🤘😁 I have to throw a recommendation in here, for a game called Asura's Wrath. The music in general in that game is freaking fantastic, mostly original, also some classical stuff like Dvorak's 9th World Symphony sprinkled here and there. The absolute best song in the game, one I guarantee you'll love, is Orphan Wolf Legend, also called Yasha's Theme. It has 3 parts: a short intro subtitled Wind, which goes right into the second part, subtitled Fang, which starts to fade out before transitioning into the final part, Bonds, which takes some of the established themes and melodies and does different, interesting things with them. All around an awesome piece of music. Cheers!

Of the different songs of the OST, I do love how "No More No" (the ending credits) and "Rank Up" (or whatever the victory music was called, goes by so many names). If I didn't have Bayonetta's "The Heavies" already as my ringtone "Rank Up" would definitely be.

whenever i think of this song, i get this feeling like it's designed to have an air of pure rage and hatred. you first hear this song on your first mission after travis (main character) learns his best friend was killed and beheaded and said head sent to you in a box.
