Great car and the AWD system was really surprisingly good. I got rid of mine at 168,000 miles. However, the rattles when you hit potholes are crazy. Also the steering is insanely soft, too much. There are a LOT of insecure people in the world who think if they aren't driving around in a new car, they won't have the respect of their friends and neighbors. I was talking to a good friend's son who works at a Toyota dealership and he told me you can't tow anything with an all wheel drive hybrid RAV4. If you think you might need to tow something, you must check this out first before you buy it, he said. Ask to see the owner's manual becausse the salesman probably doesn't know either. Also, you can't tow the vehicle itself without putting the car on dollies or on a flatbed (rollback). (I'm not an expert, just saying what he said.)

They ARE good (we had one at my dealership when I worked there) but there is only two discrepancies. The price (they stay around 8-12 grand in this condition) and The shiftablity is not a manumatic style transmission, it's a lockout style so if you put it in second at a light it won't start out there it just won't got past that point. It is useful for passing like if you are doing 70 and need to pass a semi you can slap it into 4 and pass him. All said just about every Toyota is a safe bet you can take Scotty's word on that. My wife drives a 05 Camry V6 with 250k miles. Runs like a top with just regular maintenance.

Sure glad I got my 2009 Venza before Scotty made this video and the prices go up. Got a V6, AWD with 86k miles for $10k, so “they’re not giving them away” (best deal I was able to find in MD/PA).. I don’t know how all these other Venza owners drive their vehicles, but I’m getting about 23-24mpg with about 85-90% highway driving averaging ~65mph. I do drive conservative, but not like a grandpa! I calculate the mileage when I fill up and it’s usually close to what the mpg display reads, so I’m pretty confident the mpg ratings for the old Venzas are pretty close. Kinda wish Toyota would have called the new Venza something else because now it looks like any other SUV. The original has a body shape that is close to the new Subaru Outback, i.e. kinda looks like a wagon a bit.

ChrisRoseberry, can I make the assumption that you work at the Georgetown KY plant? I just bought a 2015 Venza about a month ago…2.7L i4, FWD, produced in KY. 100K miles, and still driving nicely. With the mileage, doing some maintenance items to it (filter changes, trans. drain & fill, spark plugs) but overall pretty happy with it! 😊👍🏼

Me with my 99 Dodge Durango V8 SLT 4x4 pushing 400K miles and not slowing down. Only payed 600, only put in $900. Gas mileage might me crappy, but it’s dependable, safe, tows everything I need, parts are cheap. It’s amazing what immaculate care dose in a car, truck, SUV. Pennzoil platinum, motorkote, seafoam, and driving like a sane person and oil changes ever 5 K miles. Is what I’ve used. I suggest all of it.

I love my 2010 it has almost 185k now and it's been great. I replaced a few batteries, 2 alternators, the shocks twice, and front wheel bearings. Tires are a pain, 20 inch tires are very expensive. For a good set, $1100.

Never heard of them?? Now I'll be keeping my eyes open for them. My van and truck are both 99s and the van with a V-6 gets 21mpg. Olds made a good one back then! The head casting on the V-6 was designed a bit too narrow on the back but that was the only problem I found in 20 years. OH, my Ford F-250, 14mpg. Not the worst I have ever seen.

They didn't sell in high enough numbers because of its bloated, wide size. It was also never redesigned during its first run. They did face-lift the grill and headlights before discontinuing it.

I have a 2010 same color, mine's AWD, panoramic sunroof 13 speaker ( yes 13) JVC sound system, GPS etc... I have 120K and runs like the day I got it, engine perfect, transmission perfect...I fully expect to run this until at least 200K. if not more. Comfortable for 4 people to go cross country with plenty of storage. Great car, and, take a good look at this vs the new Lexus SUV's, Nissan Murano and other... almost can't tell them apart. Never had a problem... just tires, brakes, oil etc Great car!

So you do like 60's English sportscars then Scotty. Oh the happy times I've had setting the points, adjusting valve clearances and tuning the twin carbs with a length of pipe and a trusty screwdriver. Happy days. I'm English and had my first Spitty when I turned nineteen. My love affair for MG's, Triumph's, Jags, Jenson's et al never wavered. Ironically my bigboy toy now is a Mark1 MX-5 (which combines English elegance with Japanese reliability) You can't get more smiles per mile has I belt around the country lanes of the Derbyshire Dales. Love the channel old fruit, and keep on bringing 'we the masses'' your wonderful incites.

The only thing Toyota fails now is excitement. Dependable yes if maintained properly. I just recently drove an AWD Kia Sorento V6 with a hole I'm the exhaust and damn that was exciting and the sound sounds a lot better than a GET exhaust note BUT the AC wasn't working and I swear there's an oil leak. So excitement or dependable? It's your choice. In the mean time, I think Scotty is a part time tester for BMW moiton sensors

Scotty, when you are pricing cars, I think you need to look outside of Texas. Texas seems to be in it's only little world when it comes to car prices. I've looked at 1st gen Venzas online, and they're not giving them away anywhere (other than perhaps TX). Even those with over 100K miles on them are selling for $10-15K.

I shopped for used cars but the Venza gas mileage was too low for doing Uber. Taxi drivers preferred the Prius-V, a very spacious car with much better mileage (and tank range). I ended up with a Ford C-Max and love it, it has better pickup speed than a Prius.
